[Bug 784574] Re: gedit instance not used by nautilus when auto-started
The principle text editor in ubuntu is nearly unusable for me. Can we bump the priority on this? Related:whatever instance (either the unity instance or the nautilus instance for lack of a better description) has numerous UI bugs. For example, you can't click on the overlay scroll bar -- it appears but then disappears as you mouse over it to move it. Between having two instances of my single instance editor app depending on whether i open a text file from nautlius or from the principle app launcher is bad enough, but when one of them is crippled .. arggh! Also please mark the other bug (or this one) a dupe .. I think it's clearly the same issue (and cross posting this follow up): seems similar to bug #777292 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/784574 Title: gedit instance not used by nautilus when auto-started To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/784574/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 813911] [NEW] Nautilus crashes while opening /usr/bin
Public bug reported: Nautilus crashes almost instantaneously when opening /usr/bin. I have not noticed this with any other folder that may contain a large number of files (it does not happen when opening /usr/lib or /usr/share). I have looked at a couple of other similar bugs and I can confirm that Assistive Technologies is disabled and so are file previews and I also made sure that it would open the folder in list view. Default zoom for list view is 50%. Nautilus appears to spike to 100% CPU usage upon navigating to /usr/bin (its hard to be certain as it crashes as soon as the information is displayed in system monitor), but I dont think it is consuming much more than 30MiB of memory before it crashes (once again, it is hard for me to be certain of this). [Bug 803992] Re: Natty update introduced crasher in xorg
no source code analysis. Otherwise I would have probably come up with a fix. At some point I suspected that my session type was wrong, but since I used autologon I could not change it to test it. Therefore I turned autologon off and noticed that things started to work. Sometimes it is just that simple. BTW I still sometimes get "Oh no something has gone wrong"; although ubuntu does not have auto logon, gnome still has this. If I get that clicking on logout will give me the gnome login screen again, it will still autologin and then things go ok. I suspect this is a startup timing related issue, probalby between gnome and X11. If it matters, I have an i7-2600 with a hard disk (no ssd). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803992 Title: Natty update introduced crasher in xorg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/803992/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 585472] Re: File System Properties reports 128 TB of use
Same issue on both of my systems (11.04 64 bit). /proc/kcore is 128TB. A quick search says that the file is just a virtual file for how much RAM the system can allocate. On a 64-bit OS, that size is 128TB (wow, imagine that much ram). Perhaps a simple fix would just be to tell nautilus to ignore all virtual files or at least ignore that specific file. I don't know if virtual files have some sort of signature that it could recognize and ignore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585472 Title: File System Properties reports 128 TB of use To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/585472/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 743265] Re: When using unity, the diplomacy and cities menus are not shown.
Thanks for the verification, Jacob. I've tagged the bug as verified. > who is we? if its ubuntu, why are you deliberately trying to carry a > delta on this package; will it break freeciv on other systems? I did mean Ubuntu, but no, I hate deltas! I love nothing better than running 'requestsync'. :) I just wasn't sure if you/Debian were interested in adding an Ubuntu- specific workaround. So I was saying that if the patch wasn't in Debian, we would add it. It shouldn't break freeciv on other systems, because Jacob's patch (http://gna.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=13612) checks whether 'ubuntu- local' is a supported property before using it. If you're willing to add that to the freeciv packaging next time you update it in Debian, I can sync us back to your version. I do not use focus follows mouse since a long while now but use the keyboard mostly anyway to not have to lift the hand :) mouse jumping when alt pressed would be annoying for most users - i think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/615859 Title: "Select windows when the mouse moves over them" is incompatible with global menu bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/615859/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I tried installing freeciv-client-gtk 2.2.4-1ubuntu0.1 on my Natty live CD and (a) the global menu was correctly suppressed (launched from menus or command line, (b) I didn't see any regressions as far as I tested it (only a few minutes). [Bug 742516] Re: gimp-2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke() (with oxygen GTK theme)
@iLugo I cannot speak for Martin Pitt, nor for Canonical, but I believe I can explain why this bug is (and should be) of Medium rather than High importance. Importance for bugs in Ubuntu is assigned according to the priority in the Ubuntu project as a whole, and the effect of the bugs on Ubuntu users generally. This bug affects only a minority of Ubuntu users using GIMP, and GIMP is itself not nearly as heavily used a package as many other packages. If you search Launchpad to see what bugs *are* marked High, you'll see that they tend to be much broader in scope or have much more serious and unmitigable effects. The more bugs are marked High, the less meaningful it is for a bug to be marked High. This bug simply does not warrant that label. There is no parallel between GIMP in Ubuntu and Adobe Photoshop running on Windows and Mac OS X, and that topic is irrelevant to what this bug's importance should be. Those operating systems do not provide Photoshop (nor hardly any applications) as a component of the system, and they take no responsibility at all for whether or not Photoshop works. Photoshop could break for *all* users of Mac OS X or Windows and it is unlikely that Apple or Microsoft would be considered responsible in the slightest. Adobe is considered to be fully responsible for whether or not Photoshop works in any particular situation. However, if Microsoft or Apple provided support for Photoshop and it stopped working for a minority of users, and the OS vendor provided information about how to easily work around the problem, it seems unlikely that anyone would criticize the OS vendor for failing to prioritize fixing the problem. Actually, it seems unlikely that anyone would expect the OS vendor to make any effort at all to fix a problem with an easy workaround that affected so few users. (Fortunately, the standard to which Ubuntu's user community holds Canonical and the Ubuntu project is much higher than the standard to which most desktop OS vendors' customers hold them.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/742516 Title: gimp-2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke() (with oxygen GTK theme) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/742516/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 813821] [NEW] Empathy fails to answer a SIP call, blocks normal call forwarding.
Public bug reported: I have set up empathy with its SIP plugin to answer calls to my SIP VOIP account. It used to work, and I have done nothing but updates to change its settings. Incoming calls still work if linphone-3 is up and running. But if empathy is running, calls to my SIP phone number (through freephoneline.ca) don't answer AND, worst of all possible failures, do not even ring properly or give a busy or etc signal. Under proper functioning, if I don't answer after several seconds on SIP, my phone number will forward on to my office phone and cell phone and voicemail. But empathy is blocking that, so that people ringing my phone number get just silence -- no connection, no forwarding, no voicemail. But under the new code, the function will do nothing when set shape_region as NULL. - Søren Holm [reporter] 2011-06-16 06:38:24 UTC That is interresting news. I where just naive and trusted the commit message. Thanks for that additional research. Maybe now the commit could be reverted? - Søren Holm [reporter] 2011-07-10 20:14:15 UTC Is Wen Long Feng right about his thoughts? I can also see in the coe this : * If @shape_region is %NULL, the shape will be unset, so the whole * window will be opaque again. @offset_x and @offset_y are ignored * if @shape_region is %NULL. [Bug 813772] [NEW] Evolution - "Error while Refreshing folder" - IMAP password issue
Public bug reported: After booting my computer I encounter, for more than half the time, a message from Evolution that a single IMAP+ account cannot be read with: Error while storing folder 'INBOX' Error while Refreshing folder 'INBOX' This seems to be an issue with Evolution reading my password properly. It reads like Bug #183136 but the workaround in that report - message #40 - about deleting folders.db didn't help. If I check my passwords in: System / Preferences / Passwords and Encryption keys (Seahorse) they are fine. I've found as a workaround I can: - Delete the single password in Seahorse - In Evolution use menu: File / Forget Passwords - but this forgets everything which I find time consuming to re-instate However, Evolution can take hours to ask you for your password again. I can't force it to do this sooner. Eventually a dialog box pops up asking you. After that IMAP folders start working again. Anyone know a better workaround or a fix?
