[Bug 919603] [NEW] Indexed document opens unwanted multiple windows
Public bug reported: Hi, I just got a huge technical documentation from work, it weights 600MB and is divided into many chapters and sections. But instead of being a single huge PDF file, it is split in many individual (1,075) smaller PDF files, one for each section and sub-section. In the index when you click on a chapter, it automatically loads the appropriate PDF file and displays it in the same window. So, to the user, it is completely transparent and behaves as though it were a single huge PDF file rather than a multitude of smaller PDF's. Along side the PDF files, there is a special folder named index, which contains 9 sub-folders, around 35 files in all, weighting around 10MB. I assume it contains all the data to help the PDF viewer organise everything as required. The problem I have with Evince is that every time I click in the index to jump to a different section, it opens the corresponding PDF file in a new window instead of loading it in the original window. This makes navigating very painful, and breaks the intended integrity of the document. I am hoping it is fairly easy to fix ? If not, you may contact the developers of Okular, it is KDE's document viewver, Evince's KDE counterpart. I tried to open my document with half a dozen different PDF viewer, and Okular was the only one that behaved as expected/intended. I would rather use Evince though (being a long time Gnome addict)... Please note, that the default is to have the buttons-have-icons setting set to false, you have to override it manually (install dconf- tools, open dconf-editor, navigate to org-gnome=desktop-interface, and check the buttons-have-icons checkbox) to see this problem. Public bug reported: Basero 3.2.0 as it installs from the ISO. Synaptic says installed version is 3.2.0-0ubuntu6 Using either ubuntu studio 10.04 or 12.04(alpha dec19) if brasero is started by a right click on a toc file (or maybe a cue file) it opens a dialogue to burn a cd from. I can cancel or burn a cd, but in either case ps x still shows brasero running after the dialogue has gone when the application has completed it's task successfully. trying to burn a cd from a second toc file or even open brasero from the main menu then fails until brasero has been killed (kill pid). This is not a problem when opening an audio file (wav, ogg etc.) as the main brasero window is opened. I think that because the burn dialogue normally would not exit brasero it doesn't exit here either, however, the main window is not shown to exit from. This is important to UbuntuStudio because the main DAW (Ardour) puts out toc files as a finished product and brasero is needed (since the loss of gcdmaster) to actually print the file to CD. [Bug 919860] [NEW] Rhythmbox freezes sporadically when new song starts
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10 Rhythmbox 2.90.1 There is no clear pattern or cause to the problem but when a new song starts, for example when you click next song, Rhythmbox sometimes freezes and I have to Alt+F4 before a popup tells me it is not responding and I must 'force quit' the program. This also occurs sometimes when it goes onto the next song when previous finishes. If it also helps I use 'shuffle' for my songs so maybe this is making it have a brain spasm deciding which song to play out of the many in library. This is a shame! Windows apps do gapless playback for ten years now, and still the framework that is supposed to be the model implementation miserably fails at playing gapless audio. Please, fix it *now*. This may be well be one of the reasons why people prefer windows over linux. Any modern operationg system *must* play music as the user expects it to. GStreamer does not. This will drive users into the arms of microsoft.
