[Bug 1159390] Re: Ok

2013-04-04 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After installing yesterday's Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 daily image, I had a

nothing I would expect to interfere. All extensions have been disabled.
No change whether I'm on battery on AC power.

1. As shown in the second screenshot, the substitutions also occur with
various fonts on Web pages. So it isn't related to how the font is
chosen.

[Bug 1163323] Re: Ubuntu 15px T rendered as bold S

2013-04-04 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Description changed:

  Ubuntu 12.10

- On one particular machine running Ubuntu 12.10, almost every normal-
- weight T in Ubuntu 15px at normal weight is rendered as a bold S.
- For example, Text is rendered as Sext.
+ On one particular machine running Ubuntu 12.10, some text characters are
+ substituted for different characters.

- The problem does not occur with any other font, size, weight, or
- character. Only the T in Ubuntu 15px at normal weight.
+ On April 2, almost every normal-weight T in Ubuntu 15px at normal weight
was rendered as a bold S. For example, Text was rendered as Sext.

- This problem occurs in multiple applications, including Thunderbird,
- Tomboy, XChat, and Nautilus. It does not occur in LibreOffice (perhaps
- because it does not use GTK?), or in Ubuntu's menu bar (perhaps because
- it applies a bevel to the text?).
+ On April 3, that Ubuntu T returned to normal, but k in the font used
+ by Firefox when displaying Facebook wall posts was rendered as d. For
+ example, Mark was rendered as Mard.
+
+ On April 4, the k returned to normal, but p in a particular sans-serif
bold size was rendered as non-bold ƒʹ, while 0 in a different sans-serif
size was rendered as bold g.
+
+ The machine was restarted between April 2nd and 3rd, but only suspended
+ between 3rd and 4th.
+
+ This problem occurs in multiple applications, including Firefox,
+ Thunderbird, Tomboy, XChat, and Nautilus. It does not occur in
+ LibreOffice (perhaps because it does not use GTK?), or in Ubuntu's menu
+ bar (perhaps because it applies an inset to the text?).

  [Originally reported by Nick Tait.]

** Summary changed:

- Ubuntu 15px T rendered as bold S
+ Some glyphs temporarily rendered as others

[Bug 762918] Re: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity

2013-04-04 Thread Pritschet, Andreas
Hi there,

two days ago I started a new job and was allowed to install a Linux
distribution of my liking on a Fujitsu machine with Core i3. I chose the
64bit Xubuntu 12.04 LTS version and tweaked it by running compiz and
avant-window-navigator.

The software setup is basically identical to the setup on my desktop
machine at home and my notebook, which are working perfectly.

I experienced my work machine to occasionally (once a day) freeze the X
server, i.e. no response to keyboard input or mouse clicks, but the
mouse cursor is still movable. In my case this has always happened while
I was working on the local desktop of the machine.

As mentioned in the duplicate bug #760769 remote access is working fine;
I can even restart lightdm without getting rid of the problem. The log
file /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows no hard evidence.

[Bug 937822] Re: [precise] F10 always opens the menu, cannot be overriden (after xkeyboard-config update)

2013-04-04 Thread thom
More than a year later this bug is still very prominent in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Half a year ago a fix was committed but hasn't reached the repositories yet ???
(not even in proposed or backports)

If this turns out to be a won't fix/can't fix for 12.04 situation it might
be wise to adopt the following workaround officially
(since it is better than nothing at all):

#-
mkdir -p ~/.config/gtk-3.0
catEOF ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css

@binding-set NoKeyboardNavigation {
 unbind shiftF10
}

* {
 gtk-key-bindings: NoKeyboardNavigation

[Bug 934288] Re: Nautilus Does not Display Menus

2013-04-04 Thread Jim J
I can' consistently make this happen, but I notice it most often when I
have a Nautilus file browsing window open and then insert a USB device
(my Sansa Fuze Clip MP3 player) and then try to open it from the Unity
dock.

If I do this, my original Nautilus window, that was open before, still
functions normally AND has drop down menus. However, the Nautilus file
browsing window that I launched for the USB device still funtions
normally, but DOES NOT have drop down menus.

The only way I can get them to come back is to close all open Nautilus
Windows, open a terminal and type killall nautilus. Then when I open a
new nautilus window, it functions normally AND has drop down menus
again.

This is a VERY annoying bug.

Thanks for looking into it.

Jim

Re: [Bug 934288] Re: Nautilus Does not Display Menus

2013-04-04 Thread Karl Johnson
On 04/04/2013 10:54 AM, Jim J wrote:
I can' consistently make this happen, but I notice it most often when I

If I do this, my original Nautilus window, that was open before, still
functions normally AND has drop down menus. However, the Nautilus file
browsing window that I launched for the USB device still funtions
normally, but DOES NOT have drop down menus.

The only way I can get them to come back is to close all open Nautilus
Windows, open a terminal and type killall nautilus. Then when I open a
new nautilus window, it functions normally AND has drop down menus
 again.

This is a VERY annoying bug.

 Thanks for looking into it.
I'm not looking just reporting hoping somebody might look.

 Jim

Thanks for the work around.
Your USB device cause could be likely, as I transfer to my MP3 player
nearly every day.
Your kill, restart nautilus window probably better then my work around.
I just shut every thing and restart.
I only encounter this issue about once a month now, was more common, I
suppose I changed my usage.
Oh I know, when I had this issue a lot I was listening to books while
recovering from an operation.
I was on the computer with the MP3 player probably five times normal.
Good catch on the USB plug in.
Maybe somebody will find it.

[Bug 1164672] [NEW] Rhythmbox Times out when adding songs from smb:// sources as the collection.

2013-04-04 Thread Rob Tongue
Public bug reported:

I am trying to have Rhythmbox utilize a smb share for it's main
collection, via shares mounted with Nautilus. The location is able to
be selected to be used as a source, but 90% of the tracks it tries to
add, show up under Import Errors because of a Timeout.

On that same note, if I do the same thing with sftp://, they add
perfectly, just VERY slowly because even on Wireless N, I only get about
200KB/s when using that service for file transfers, but get about 5MB/s
over smb://.

To duplicate the bug, map to a samba share containing music files in
nautilus, then in rhythmbox, go to preferences, and the Music Tab. In
the textbox where you would select the location of your music library,
select Browse, and point it at the mounted smb share containing music,
and exit out of preferences. After some time, it will start trying to
import the music, but mostly timeout under Import Errors. Thanks in
advance for looking into this.

I should also mention, this happens in 12.10 and 13.04 but I haven't
tried in 12.04.

[Bug 1164702] [NEW] Can not create SIP account in raring ringtail

2013-04-04 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Public bug reported:

I installed account-plugin-sip, and tried to create a new SIP account.
First, the dialog is empty, but for Cancel and Done buttons; no configuration
field.
Then, whether I click on Cancel or Done, credentials-preferences stops with a
segmentation fault.

NB: I'm using gnome-shell rather than unity, not sure if that makes a
difference.

[Bug 1068668] Re: Contact photos icons are too big

2013-04-04 Thread Valentin Lab
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1071345 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071345

To get a more compact list, I have published a new deb package that
simply reduces the size of the avatar from 48 pixel high to 24, which
seems to work flawlessly on my computer.

My blog post at http://vaab.blog.kal.fr/2013/04/04/fixing-empathy-in-
ubuntu-12-10 will give you the 64bit debian package and a lengthy way to
get your own package with your own pixel size if you want.

[Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2013-04-04 Thread Valentin Lab
This is not a fix but a work-around to get compact contact list in
empathy from 12.10 and fix some other random bugs...

http://vaab.blog.kal.fr/2013/04/04/fixing-empathy-in-ubuntu-12-10

It could also give ideas to others on how to make yourself the
modifications you need.

Please note that it doesn't address the issue of this bug report as it
do not bring back the option to get compact list but installs a version
of empathy that has built-in compact list.

[Bug 1164743] [NEW] theoraenc fails with SIGSEV in multipass mode

2013-04-04 Thread Nyjk Kyjn
Public bug reported:

Trying to convert a FLV video file with a H264 stream through gst-launch to an
