I replaced the Nvidia video card in my system and the problem seems to have gone with it. I had seen an improvement with the Nvidia card after switching from the digital video output to the on-card VGA output, but over a period of a couple of weeks or so, the video degraded again. [Bug 1875038] Re: Lock screen not really functioning - Gnome Shell extensions visible and active even in lock screen
I know getting bugs fixed or even recognised as bugs can be very time consuming and frustrating. In the case of gnome-shell extensions we only have the choice between: * Allow extensions, and allow them to do anything including breaking the shell; or * Disallow extensions. [Bug 1875730] [NEW] Gnome Shell wallpaper corruption
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Last week-end, after restarting my T470s running Ubuntu 19.10, I experienced a lot of visual glitches that didn't occur before. However, I had already noticed that some applications were unexpectedly freezing for about 5-10 seconds. I have already tried reinstalling xorg, without success. Then, I tried running Ubuntu 20.04 from a USB stick, and the problem doesn't occur. Today, I have upgraded Ubuntu to version 20.04 to see if it would fix it, but without success again. Note that when I restart the display server (Alt-F2 -> r -> Enter), it fixes the problem (sometimes I have to restart it several times). I would be happy to give you more information if you need. [Bug 1875445] Re: Volume slider doesn't produce sound
Hello, I tried to narrow down the possible triggers of the above-described bug. I think the bug is triggered by KeePassXC - it's reproducible and happens every time ONLY when I use Keepass to enter my credential on certain webpages in Firefox (perhaps it has something to do with Firefox, too). As requested I attach journalctl (only the part when the bug happens) - it really a few lines of logs. I also attach screenshot of Settings->Sound window before the bug and after to show additional entries of dummy adapters. Let me know I can do anything else. ** Attachment added: "syctemctl after bug" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1875445/+attachment/5362843/+files/log2.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875445 Title: Volume slider doesn't produce sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1875445/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1875729] Re: Fractional Scaling crashes gnome-control-center
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875729 Title: Fractional Scaling crashes gnome-control-center To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1875729/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1875733] [NEW] GNOME Software Installed List Missing Apps
Public bug reported: Installed Ubuntu Studio 20.04LTS 4 days ago. GNOME Software's installed list is missing a lot of programs that I have installed. [Bug 1875729] [NEW] Fractional Scaling crashes gnome-control-center
Public bug reported: Overview: When applying "Fractional Scaling" of 150% or 175%, the screen goes black for a while, then after a little while it comes back unscaled and gnome-control-center has crashed. Found in: Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Release:20.04 gnome-control-center: Installed: 1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5 Candidate: 1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5 Version table: *** 1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Steps to reproduce: 1. Go into "Screen Display" in Settings. 2. Enable "Fractional Scaling". 3. Select "150%" or "175%". 4. Observe that the screen goes blank for about 5 seconds. 5. Observe that upon the screen coming back, the Settings application has crashed. Additional details: If instead of selecting "150%" or "175%" I select "125%", then the screen will scale to 200% instead, but if I select and apply "125%" again, then suddenly only just over of a quarter of the screen is recognised as display and the rest just displays my background and top bar extended. I am using a 4k display over a display port cable. I am using a GTX 1070 TI with the Nvidia 440.64 driver. [Bug 1874217] Re: Dual monitor setup with secondary monitor in portrait-right mode cause tiled windows to occupy 1.5 monitors
I also have the same issue with two monitors connected, one of which in portrait mode. When selecting the second monitor to switch to portrait mode, it extends the rotated monitor about halfway into the second screen and they are shown as overlapping in the display settings. It is not possible to rotate the monitor. A temporary workaround is to set the rotation with xrandr or with the NVIDIA X Server. However, once the machine is rebooted or the screen lock turned on, the settings are "forgotten" as if one made no changes to the screen orientation at all, back to zero. [Bug 1852183]
(In reply to larrybradley from comment #25) > Interesting attitude. If you buy a Toyota and the engine goes bad, do you > expect Toyota to say, "Sorry, not our problem, they sold us bad engines." Interesting approach. I hate car allegories, but the broken part is not even part of the car. So if the bridge you want to ride over is broken you go to the car manufacturer and tell him to make your car fly. > Your name is on the product. The product is broken. No, the clipboard manager of the compositor of your window manager of your operating system is broken. That's why there is the Mutter bug linked and this bug here is flagged as notourbug. Additional findings from the linked Mutter bug are that the problem seems to be (also) related to the Clipboard Indicator GNOME Shell Extension, see already comment 7 here, so you may want to remove that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852183 Title: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1852183/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
