[Bug 147683] Re: totem crashed with SIGSEGV in __nptl_deallocate_tsd()

2007-10-03 Thread Alex Mauer
My crash for this bug was to play an AVI from a flash drive using the
default player (totem). After it was done playing, it hung for a bit
and then disappeared; apport launched shortly thereafter.

[Bug 10669] Re: Filters are not applied to new mail on Exchange

2007-10-03 Thread gsiwakumar
I did have the same problem. All filters where working when i apply it
manually and i did not work when a new mail comes in.

i was able to fix it when i enable Apply filters to new messagesin
inbox on this server available in the following path Edit-
Preferences- Edit(Account Editor)- Receiving options.

IMHO, this option needs to be enabled by default which is not the
current case.

Iam using
Evolution 2.10.1
Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn - released in April 2007)

Siva.

[Bug 148413] gnome-panel is invisible after gnome starts

2007-10-03 Thread Evgeny Remizov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When gnome starts, the panel is invisible - i.e., only desktop wallpaper
with icons on it is shown. However, menu appears after any click on the
desktop. If you click on the place where the menu should be, it
correctly handles the click - appears with the menu item open.

This happens every time since one of the latest gutsy updates.
P.S. Might have something to do with the fact that I'm using compiz/emerald -
some redraw issue.

[Bug 148432] gnome-panel freezes randomly if restarted

2007-10-03 Thread Juho Vuori
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

If you run 'killall gnome-panel' the panel normally gets restartsed.
Sometimes, though the restart happens as should, and a new gnome-panel
process gets created, no new panel gets drawn on screen. The process
just seems to get stuck on something. After entering this state, not
much is doable. Running 'killall gnome-panel' starts a new process, but
from this point on no new processes will ever draw the panel. This makes
me guess, it could be a metacity bug or something alike, but I'm
submitting this as gnome-panel bug as I don't know better.

Although this is quite random, it happens to me say once every ten
restarts, so it should be reproduceable.

[Bug 141160] Re: When remote desktop access is disabled, vino-session will still run

2007-10-03 Thread Loïc Minier
I agree that the cleanest way is to watch the GConf key and start a
process based on its changes: it's how other GConf settings work, for
example all gnome-settings-daemon settings.

Perhaps it would be clearer to simply name the watcher vino-watcher or
vino-launcher so that users could easily guess what the process is
about? This could also be made a more generic service such as gconf-
launcher as other apps might need the feature.

Alternatively, dbus could start such a program, so replacing GConf via
DBus would save us a gconf-launcher process.

[Bug 148460] bottom gnome panel doesn't show automatically

2007-10-03 Thread FredrikS
Public bug reported:

[the package could be gnome-panel, but I'm not sure]

When logging in to GNOME in Gutsy, the bottom gnome panel is not showing
unless I click once somewhere on the desktop, then it pops up like it
was already loaded but just hidden.

I have Extra desktop effects enabled so it could have something to do
with that. Other than that I have a fairly standard Gutsy desktop with
not so many non-ubuntu-desktop packages.

[Bug 141226] Re: Pushing Backspace moves to parent directory but also beeps

2007-10-03 Thread Joachim Sauer
Is there any work on fixing this?

The problem also occurs when deleting files using the Del key. While
it is not a functional bug, I think it should really be fixed before the
Gutsy relase (if possible):

1.) It is a definite regression to Feisty Fawn
2.) A User will not understand why the computer beeps in a way that's normally
used for error conditions only
3.) It reduces the trust put into Nautilus (and thus into Gnome and thus into
Ubuntu and thus into Linux) by making it feel not perfect.

I know that last item sounds strange but isn't quality a lot about
perception? When navigating around a file system and doing some work
those two actions, moving to the parent directory (backspace) and
deleting a file (del), are rather common and if each time this action is
invoked produces an audible beep then I personally tend to avoid using
nautilus for these actions.

There's a workaround in unchecking Enable System Beep in the Audio
preferences, but obviously this also disables valid beeps.

There is no work on this due to limited ressources in the desktop team,
thousand of bugs are open and only a couple of people are working on
them, the code is open source though and you are welcome to investigate
on the issue and work on a patch. We might fix it if we manage to tackle
important issues first, that one is a low importance one, it's an
annoyance but not a real blocker for the new version

[Bug 37671] Re: rhythmbox need support for easy-codec-installation

2007-10-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
What argument that users will only browse with nautilus and double-
click music? Where did you read that? The issue is only a lack of
manpower to fix the thousand of desktop bugs open immediatly, it's
likely to be fixed next cycle though

Thanks for your comments. This does not appear to be a bug report as
such. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make
more sense to raise your question in the support tracker.
