[Bug 153502] Re: rhythmbox fails to import files with spaces.

2007-10-17 Thread John Clemens
for completeness's sake, the above file does exist:

~/Music$ ls 311/From\ Chaos/32\ Amber.mp3
311/From Chaos/32 Amber.mp3

And the 6 files that did import successfully happen to not have any
spaces anywhere in the path or the file name.

[Bug 153502] rhythmbox fails to import files with spaces.

2007-10-17 Thread John Clemens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Gutsy, Rhythmbox 0.11.2, Gnome desktop, fresh install, all updates.

I went to reinstall my wifes computer (got rid of windows partition), so
I backed up her old home directory including her music collection,
tarred it up, and copied it a different server. She had been running
feisty and using amarok to copy music to her ipod. I proceeded to
install gutsy on her computer from scratch.

I untarred her music collection into her new home 'Music' directory
under gutsy, and I fired up rhythmbox to see if it would import the
files fine (and thus she can stop using amarok), and after I checked the
'Watch for new files' option, I was greeted with only 6 songs, and 6178
import errors. Every file and directory that has a space in the name
(or directory) produced a line like this:

Couldn't access :
file:///home/katy/Music/311/From%20Chaos/32%20Amber.mp3: File not found.

Obviously, it seems it's taken the %20 a little too seriously :) A
regular 'ls' on the directory seems to show spaces, and Rhythmbox
appearently got it right at least at some point because it saw the file
was there to begin with.

This is kindav a big bug, as it makes rhythmbox completely useless for
me at least, and I suspect quite a few others if you really can't import
an existing directory tree with spaces in the filenames.

Okay, I'm new at this debugging stuff. Here is one more dump, this time
I installed the debugging symbols for libwnck and libglib. I think this
dump provides a lot better info than the other ones. Please let me know

[Bug 117896] Re: Loses e-mails when moving accross IMAP folders

2007-10-17 Thread Simon Hepburn
I experienced the bug with moving mails ending up in the trash folder
with my webmail.us account for the first time this morning. Previously I
had only experienced that bug with my blueyonder account and was
suspicious this was caused by a blueyonder server problem; I can rule
this out now. log file attached.

I have been running Evo in debugging mode for several weeks now and have
not experienced a repeat of the issue with copies of sent mails going
missing. Very frustrating, particularly as another member of my family
has experienced the exact same problem with Evolution and webmail.us on
3 occasions.

Will send log file to upstream bug report as well. Is someone going to
link this bug report with either/both of the upstream bug reports I
referred to in Comment #14?

[Bug 153533] Volume Applet: Rename PCM to Master or simply Volume or something

2007-10-17 Thread Kristoffer Lundén
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

In the quest of being a desktop for human beings, with a human-friendly
interface:

What is PCM? Does any regular user know? Does it make sense that the
volume applet displays PCM: 100% when hovering over it, or that PCM is
the main control to adjust in the mixer? Google search for PCM leads to
technical explanations on Pulse-code modulation which is very unhelpful.

Is the PCM control meant to be a Master control? Could it be called
Master instead? Or could the applet display Volume: 100% instead
perhaps, for the master volume?

A small detail perhaps, but you don't see these kind of wordings in the
other mainstream OS:es and for good reason.

gnome-system-monitor won't remember if I turn on the CPU % column in
my preferences for the Processes tab. It does remember all other
information fields (that I have tried), and it does remember the

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open gnome-system-monitor

You're absolutely right, I should have said :

And I've seen many new versions since this report and the patch in gnome was
send nearly one month ago by Brian Cameron.
But it's probably my mistake to think it was easy.

[Bug 151145] Re: Evince print fails with Postscript driver

2007-10-17 Thread Thom Pischke
Seeing something very similar here. Have three ubuntu laptops, one
running as a print server with feisty, and two clients running gutsy.
After upgrade to gutsy, printing PDFs works very poorly. I've only
manage to print one PDF since upgrading, and I managed that only by
sending the job from the server itself running feisty.

When sending jobs from a laptop running gutsy, the job just hangs in the
Queue. Sometimes the printer light blinks to show it's processing a
document, sometimes not. Either way, nothing seems to ever come out.

I have managed to print non-pdf data.

I tried acrobat reader, more or less the same problem. Certainly the
same result: Can't print PDFs.

I have an HP Laserjet 1320 and use the PostScript driver.

[Bug 152927] Re: Rhythmbox fails to start from Coherence segmentation fault

2007-10-17 Thread Henrik Brink
Oh, I managed to resolve the problem.

Aparently this behaviour came from the fact that I had installed the
Elisa media center from Fluendo's Ubuntu archives, and the elisa-extra
package installed the python-coherence package as well. With this
package installed, Rhythmbox aparently would not start. I just removed
this package, and I can now hear my music again.

So I guess the bug is not in Ubuntu, but rather the Fluendo packages.

[Bug 153588] user switcher does not switch

2007-10-17 Thread steve
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Repro step:

-2 users are logged in, both of them have a running skype
-if i'd switch between the 2 users with user switcher, then it does not
switch but it logs me out :(
(Sometimes it was impossible to log in again, a restart helped.)

If i switch user with the red button at the top of the screen, and
choose switch user, it works correctly.

It was painful when i realize this bug: many applications (vpn terminal
etc) were running and were not correctly closed...

[Bug 68403] Re: Gnome-panel freezes regularly during use

2007-10-17 Thread Erik Chakravarty
When I see this freezing in Gutsy, one can still click on the applets
and buttons (e.g. the menu), but the icons are not updated with the
mouseover highlight. This is the case for all buttons and applets. The
most annoying part is that the clock doesn't update.

hiding the panel with the hide arrows and showing it again appears to
refresh it enough to get everything working again. It is quite hard to
notice when this happens, as the panel is still functional.

[Bug 151221] Re: OOo freezes after trying to insert a picture

2007-10-17 Thread Chris Cheney
It appears that the crux theme is causing this problem and it also
causes firefox to hang when switched to crux theme, so it doesn't seem
to be isolated to just OOo.

** Changed in: gnome-themes (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: openoffice.org = gnome-themes
