I have this problem since 2 weeks. The Gnome startup is very slow, its

I am having the same problem,
I updated from feisty to gusty and had a 30 sec load time from login to
desktop. I disabled bluetooth and that did nothing. I also was using compiz.
I then did a clean install and have the same problem. still using compiz.
am running:

scrolling fast gives back and forward action in firefox.
It is now a fire-fox bug:

stopped sending information about song name in the ogg stream, because
it was crashing the rhythmbox player.

Comparing xpdf with Evince for the last

shows indeed that Evince is missing some parts.

I tried the fancy new visual effects briefly, but then disabled it that
same day because it seemed to be unstable on my laptop's video card.
Since then, I have been running plain Jane GNOME with no advanced visual
effects.

workspace switcher: name OR preview, but not both
A couple of notes:
(1) At work, I use Kubuntu. It has a similar applet called pager
which allows the names and the previews to be viewed at the same time.
Nicely done there. A little bit on the busy looking side, but very
usable.
(2) Back to GNOME workspace switcher, if you have the workspace
I can confirm this in Gutsy. However, this has happened almost every
time, not just once.

that Evolution was missing a few of its header
I don't really know how to determine the exact package, i think the
improvement must be done in the logout screen.

same problem here using an old compaq armada with gutsy.
home folders become inaccessible after some hours and then desktop freezes.
i didn't face any problems at all with 7.04 but now its more and more often.
also nautilus from one point and on starts to use more and more memory till
100%...
By the way, I should have made it clear that they are located within the
shell/ sub-directory

Since upgrading to 7.10, Keyring goes into endless loop prompting for password.
I have exactly the same situation. This bug is really annoying, as it
slows down the process of getting a working system.
