[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] "Offline Mode" feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.
The 'iface eth1000 inet dhcp' trick didn't quite wok for me, but I'm not entirely sure I have the same issue. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with a wireless connection (Intel 3945), and I use Opera rather than firefox, and what I've been experiencing is when I boot Ubuntu, the network manager applet shows "Networking Disabled" - I can't view SSIDs, it doesn't give me the option to create a network or manually configure a network, nothing. I run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager" and it starts behaving normally. So, it almost seems that whenever I shut down the laptop, something isn't getting cleared up, and when I boot it back up, whatever didn't get reset is jacking up the configuration so that it thinks networking is disabled. -- [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] "Offline Mode" feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I decided to attempt to launch Evolution and it launched correctly. It even showed the folder subscription that I had selected that seemed to be the initial source of the problems. -- thumbnailer disabled in 1.1.1-0ubuntu3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 1517] Re: thumbnailer disabled in 1.1.1-0ubuntu3
Another observation here, indicating that things are messed up, is after you've played with this for a bit, you can stop and restart evolution, and sometimes the calendar looks much different. [Bug 251995] [NEW] Editing reccurrence for "This Instance Only" locks out recurrence editing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Create a new Friday appointment that recurs weekly, forever. Go back in and change the recurrence from Friday to Saturday. Click "Save" on the appointment, and it'll ask if you want to save it for "This Instance Only" or "All Instances". Alright, this is the first problem. It makes no sense to edit the occurrence for a single instance. Select "This Instance Only", and save it. Now, when you go back in, the recurrence information is grayed out, and you can't change it. This is true of both the instance you changed or any other instance. You can see that the instance you changed has no recurrence info, but all others have the original recurrence info. But you can't change any of them. Also, nothing actually changes day. Not even the one you told to. You can regain access to the recurrence settings by changing the time for all appointments. But the state of the series never seems quite right again, and it seems to lead to cascading badness, possibly including crashes. This was produced using a local calendar. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Ok, quite a long summary. Anyway this is what happens on Intrepid Alpha 3: 1. I plug in my USB hard disk (I tried with several different USB hard disks of different makes - they all show the same behaviour) 2. [Bug 251993] [NEW] Firefox 3.0.1 upgrade fails on Hardy 8.04 i386
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libpango1.0-0 I just ran into, and eventually fixed a problem with Ubuntu Hardy automatic updates that hinged on the available version of libpango. The Firefox 3.0.1 release that just came out depends on xulrunner-1.9.0.1, which in turn depends on libpango 1.20.5. On my AMD64 system, all dependencies were pulled down and the upgrade worked as advertised. On my i386 laptop, however, the latest version of libpango was stuck at 1.20.1-1, and the installation of xulrunner, and in turn Firefox-3 was blocked. I manually installed libpango and libpango-common 1.20.5.0 from http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy-updates/i386/libpango1.0-0/download, and this cleared the logjam and allowed Firefox 3.0.1 to be installed. I click on 'write' (to *read* and *copy* the CD that is in the drive, an open bug elsewhere). After I click on 'write' to go forward one of two things happen; either the process goes forward correctly or the dialogue just disappears. A second attempt usually works fine. [Bug 251947] [NEW] gnome panel incorrect text orientation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel This seems similar to bug #118483 but does not involve compiz. When I move the main panel to the right edge of the screen either by dragging with the mouse or by changing Properties/Orientation, the text "Applications Places System" and the clock's date and time text are incorrectly oriented (the characters are rotated 90 degrees clockwise) - see screenshot attached. [Bug 251934] [NEW] right clicking selected calendar event acts like clicking on open space
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution This only happens in "Week" and "Month" view. It is reproducible. Possibly related to bug 251930. If you have selected a calendar event, then right click it, you get a context menu that looks like you clicked in an open area of the calendar. There are no options for open, move, delete, etc. Only new this, new that, etc. If you have nothing selected, or some other appointment selected, before right-clicking, you get the correct menu. If you have something else selected, right-click, and delete, it deletes the correct item (the one you right clicked). So it's only a problem when you right click what's already selected. I'm using an exchange calendar to test this. I'm running the latest hardy packages: evolution 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 evolution-common 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 evolution-data-server 2.22.3-0ubuntu1 evolution-data-server-common 2.22.3-0ubuntu1 evolution-data-server-dbg 2.22.3-0ubuntu1 evolution-dbg 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 evolution-exchange 2.22.3-0ubuntu2 evolution-exchange-dbg 2.22.3-0ubuntu2 evolution-plugins 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 evolution-webcal 2.21.92-0ubuntu1 evolution-webcal-dbgsym 2.21.92-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- right clicking selected calendar event acts like clicking on open space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251934 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 251930] [NEW] right clicking calendar event partially uses other event
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution This only happens in "Day" and "Work Week" view. It is reproducible. If you have selected a calendar event, then right click a different one, it gives you the context menu of the selected item, not the one you right clicked. You can tell because the menus for recurring meetings are different than those for single-instance meetings. So, if you select a recurring meeting, and right click a single-instance meeting, you see "Delete this Occurrence" and "Delete All Occurrences" in the menu, when you should see only "Delete". The reverse is also true. If you then select "Delete this Occurence" for a single-instance meeting, it fails with the error "The event could not be deleted due to an error". If you select "Delete All Occurrences" on a single-instance meeting, it deletes fine. If you select "Delete" on a recurring meeting, it deletes all occurrences. I'm using an exchange calendar to test this.
