[Bug 261411] [NEW] sending mail+server problem = mail lost

2008-08-26 Thread Alexander Bürger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I tried to send a mail just a minute ago, and there was some problem
with the mail server (probably).

Evolution showed a warning in the status bar, and when I clicked it
showed a message box saying something like RCPT TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED] temporary
failure (I have clicked away the dialog to look in the Drafts
folder). So far so good. But: the mail was neither sent nor saved.

This is very annoying! Mail should not disappear, it should either go to
the sent or to the drafts folder.

Best wishes,

Alexander

[Bug 242208] Re: deskbar applet doesn't use default program to open documents

2008-08-26 Thread Kornel Jahn
I also can confirm this bug. Nautilus opens all my pdfs in evince.
Deskbar-applet + tracker search tool fail to open them (they do nothing). When
starting from console, the following message appears:
Error showing url: There is no default action associated with this location.

POSSIBLE CAUSE:
gnome-open gives exactly the same message as above when trying to open a pdf
with it. gnome-open binds to gnome-vfs, which is going to be succeeded by gvfs.
(gvfs-open works)
Apparently, deskbar-applet, tracker search tool, etc still bind to gnome-vfs
instead of the new gvfs. Nautilus already binds to gvfs, so when trying to
modify the file association (open with...), the change is made for gvfs but
not for gnome-vfs apps.

Ubuntu 8.04 took Gnome 2.22 in the middle of a major transition (gnome-
vfs -- gvfs), which is probably reflected in these bugs. Please provide
some method to adjust the file associations for gnome-vfs, too, until
the transition is finished!

Personally, i have to search many pdfs with tracker for my work, and it
is irritating that they don't open in evince because of this bug.

[Bug 242208] Re: deskbar applet doesn't use default program to open documents

2008-08-26 Thread Kornel Jahn
i suggest to increase the importance of the bug since it probably
affects all software, which still use libgnome-vfs. and although Gnome
is gradually changing to gvfs, many programs haven't done it yet, for
-as far as I know- gvfs API isn't even declared stable.

[Bug 81961] Re: gnome-power-manager should report a reason when HAL failed to hibernate

2008-08-26 Thread Vincenzo Ciancia
There is no way I can reproduce the bug as my current laptop does not
fail to hibernate anymore, but if the developers know their code they
will know if they fixed or not this bug. What happens when there is an
hibernation failure? What error is reported? Is it still a generic error
or does it contain a button to view the log? If it should just stay that
way then close the bug, but this can't be closed just because I don't
have any hibernation errors, the bug is related to how errors are
handled and can be closed only if developers or upstream agrees on that.
If I let this bug closed, then this can affect other people even if it
won't happen anymore to me.

[Bug 261166] Re: nautilus-sendto is build without Gajim support

2008-08-26 Thread Florian Zeitz
In that case I'd beg you to just remove the check for gajim.png from the
configure script in a patch. Which would remove the need to build-depend on
gajim, but still enable building the plugin.
The file is not needed during build time and as the plugin will only load when
gajim is running (therefore probably installed), it shouldn't cause problems
during runtime (after all debian builds the plugin and doesn't have a
dependency on gajim so that should work)

[Bug 222852] Re: Mystery power button events on resume

2008-08-26 Thread Peter Wagner
I have the same problem, unable to work in Ubuntu. Possibly it was
caused after a TAR installation of an ica Client from their download
site. In the Czech wiki, this is recommended even if Citrix offers only
SuSe and redhat solutions (as Linux). But maybe I've overseen
something, because finally it didn't work. The problems arised from the
next (?) reboot.

No matter. Now I've no idea how to get back into. I've tried to remove user
related settings (.gconf, .gconfd, .config, .gnome2), no improvement.
I've entered gconftool-2 --set /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/power --type
string nothing, no change. Even the gnome-power-manager directory didn't
appear.
I've tried also to generate the XML file at this location, no change.

I have a Celeron 1.7 GHz desktop, 1.25 GB DDR-2, 2 SATA disks

[Bug 33212] Re: deleting files across file systems

2008-08-26 Thread David Tangye
I have a similar problem. I always keep all my data on a separate
partition, mounted to say /mnt/sdaN. I have a directory there for each
user and the user can build whatever subdirectories from there he wants,
each with links to his home, eg

ln -s /mnt/sda6/fred/workStuff /home/fred
ln -s /mnt/sda6/fred/playStuff /home/fred
ln -s /mnt/sda6/fred/yetMoreStuff /home/fred, etc

I should be able to use the nautilus Trash facility. I tried creating
/mnt/sda6/.Trash-fred but that did not work, and I think it ought to.

[Bug 261461] [NEW] F-Spot Slideshow unusable

2008-08-26 Thread direx
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Starting a slideshow in F-Spot (only ~100 pictures) does not work correctly.
The pictures (2 megapixels) take forever to load (about 30 seconds) and the
transitions are extremely slow and nasty. The worst thing is, that the
slideshow cannot be quit. When I move the mouse around nothing happens.
There should be a little bar where I can quit fullscreen mode and pause the
slideshow, but the bar does not appear at all. Instead the screen flickers when
I move the mouse and as soon as I click somewhere F-Spot freezes. It is still

I also confirm this error:
Dbus Error

whenever I try to mount any of the available win shares in my local network.

I have the icon in the left panel of Nautilus, but still unable to access the

Really annoing.. :(

[Bug 261463] [NEW] Setting background from F-Spot does not apply rotation setting

2008-08-26 Thread direx
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Steps to reproduce:
1. Import picture from digital camera into F-Spot
2. Rotate the image with F-Spot
3. Click Edit - Set as desktop background
4. The GNOME background changes, but the image still has the original rotation
setting (aka: not rotated)
5. Click Change Desktop Background on the desktop: the image in the preview
window is being rotated correctly (as set in F-Spot), but the actual background
still is not rotated correctly.

Also, the GNOME picture viewer shows the image the correct way (like
F-Spot).

Expected behaviour:
Set the background image with the same rotation as the F-Spot image.

[Bug 261484] [NEW] Error while copying mounts

2008-08-26 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

1) Go to Computer
2) Right click on a data CD (or any mount) and select Copy
3) Go to Home Folder
4) Right click and select Paste

Up comes an error that says Error while copying XXX: Can't open
mountable file

I would expect either that nautilus wouldn't let me select Copy from the
mount's context menu or that nautilus would try to copy all the contents
of the mount, treating it like any old folder. The current behavior
seems bad.

[Bug 261499] Re: gnome terminal crashes when changing profile

2008-08-26 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 261461] Re: F-Spot Slideshow unusable

2008-08-26 Thread direx
OK, after rebooting again I figured out the following things:

1. Fullscreen slideshow sort of works, still it takes forever (~30 seconds)
until the next image is being shown and there is no setting to change that.
2. There is no option to pause the slideshow. There is also no option to skip a
picture - neither with the keyboard nor with the mouse.
3. There is no way to change the transition. Between the different images the
screen becomes white.
4. And now the worst thing: there is no way to quit the slideshow. Moving the
mouse around does not bring up any bar or something (like in plain fullscreen
mode). Pressing Esc, q, e and a couple of other keys does not help
either.

To quit the slideshow I have to Alt+Tab to the F-Spot main window
close it and click Force quit.

In my opinion the severity of this problem is at least medium, because
F-Spot is a pre-installed GNOME application.
