[Bug 306702] Re: gcalctool 5.24.1, won't switch to rad

2009-01-20 Thread Martin Pitt
This is the debdiff with autoconf and po updates removed, thus the
actually important bits.

Which of those fixes already meet the SRU criteria, i. e. fix
regressions from hardy? The other need to be trivial.

The changes generally look good to me, and incorrect calculations are
indeed a nuisance, so this looks acceptable to me. However, we should
clarify the regression status.

2009-01-20 Thread Marlin Forbes
I do not believe this should be assigned to tracker, this bug is in
evolution. I've just experienced the exact same error opening
attachments in a mail sent to me:

Gtk:ERROR:/build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.14.4/gtk/gtklayout.c:394:gtk_layout_move_internal:

This is with GNOME evolution 2.24.3, and Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid.

It crashed when trying to view an attachment below the message by
clicking the generated thumbnail with the dropdown next to it.

This is what I get:

 use_http_proxy = true
 use_authentication = false
 host =
 authentication_user =
 ignore_hosts = [localhost,127.0.0.0/8,*.local]

[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)

2009-01-20 Thread Ernst
I also got this problem (internal mic doesn't work) with my soundcard.
As I do not have an external mic, I don't know if that works.

 Info:
- Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid, all repositories enabled
- laptop: Asus A8Jc H023H
- Soundcard:
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
Codec: Analog Devices AD1986A
Codec: Motorola Si3054
lspci|grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 02)
- Both with PulseAudio and Alsa
- Adding 'options snd-hda-intel fix_position=1 model=3stack' to
/etc/modprobes.d/alsa-base enabled mic, but all output didn't work

- I use the Sound Recorder (Applications Sound Video Sound Recorder) to
see if the mic works
- I use the 'Test' sound from System Preferences Sound

Hopefully, this bug can be fixed!

[Bug 43589] Re: [totem-gstreamer] wont play vcd for unknown reason

2009-01-20 Thread Walter Cheuk
I fixed the problem this way (I am using Xubuntu 8.10 upgraded from
8.04):

1. Remove 'totem-gstreamer' and install 'totem-xine'
2. Go to Menu - Applications - Settings Manager - File Manager - Advanced
- Volume Management - Configuire - Multimedia, under 'Video CDs/DVDs, change
'totem dvd:/' to 'totem vcd:/' (without the quote. I tried the gconf-editor but
can't find the volume_management tag)
3. Now insert a VCD, totem launches automatically and starts playing! The bad
news is that totem will complain when inserting DVD now. The two media type
should have different handler.

[Bug 319188] [NEW] When reading an Opendisc audio CD, I must eject twice

2009-01-20 Thread Eric BREHAULT
Public bug reported:

When I insert an audio CD which uses the Opendisc standard (
http://www.opendisc.net/ ), it is properly recognized, and 2 volumes are
mounted (see screenshot1): the CD itself (as any CDROM), and the
Opendisc volume.

It makes no problem, but when I want to eject the disc, if I right-click
the CDROM volume on my desktop, and select Eject, the Opendisc volume
is unmounted, but not the CDROM volume, so I have to right-click it and
select Eject again and then the disc is really ejected.

I can see I have the mime type set as application/octet-stream.

~/.local/share/mime/globs contains a reference just about lst files.

/usr/share/mime/globs does not contain any reference to lzma (string

I think this IS a configuration bug (as almost 50% of bugs here on
launchpad); it should work out of the box.

[Bug 319093] Re: VIP mail gone from server and nonimportant remained

2009-01-20 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 318949] Re: Difficulties opening remote files (vfs)

2009-01-20 Thread Chris Coulson
That is because Gedit in Hardy isn't using GIO. It was ported to GIO for
Intrepid, and this works correctly now. In the meantime on Hardy, you
can use the GVFS fuse mount-point for your sftp locations, by navigating
to ~/.gvfs

[Bug 319221] [NEW] Option+key combos in USA Macintosh keyboard layout don't work

2009-01-20 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Ubuntu 8.10 (all updates installed), MacBook early 2008 model

1. Open the Keyboard settings window.
2. If USA Macintosh is not already in the list of available layouts, add it
(+, By language, Language: English, Variants: USA Macintosh, Add).
3. Select USA Macintosh as the default layout.
4. Ensure that Separate layout for each window is unchecked.
5. In any text field, using either the left or right Option key, try to type
any of the combos specific to the USA Macintosh layout that use the Option key:
for example Option 8 for a • bullet, Option [ for a “ quote mark, or Option
; for an … ellipsis.

What should happen: The characters are printed.
What actually happens: Nothing.

I don't know whether the keyboard layout is not working at all, or
whether just the Option keys are not being recognized. The keyboard
layout is printed mostly correctly from the Print Layout Diagram
button, with the exception that the Option keys are incorrectly labelled
as Alt_L and Compose. In a Web browser, Left Option + Left Arrow
navigates Back while Right Option+ Left Arrow does not, suggesting that
at least the left Option key is at least recognized for some things.

you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 318248] Re: [Jaunty].xsession-errors filled up with OKs

2009-01-20 Thread Tobias Stegmann
Now I'm sure gdm isn't filling up my .xsession-errors.

Instead this is a screenlets issue. When a screenlet is configured to
start automatically after login, no logfile is specified and its log
messages are added to the .xsession-errors file and not to their
destinated ones.

I'm not a Pyhton man but perhaps autostarted screenlets should log into
/dev/null since some of them are producing many log messages in a short
period of time.

[Bug 318238] Re: gdmflexiserver crash using Gimp 2.6 in xnest modality

2009-01-20 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
