[Bug 348225] Re: Jaunty *.desktop files doesn't honour X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain option

2009-03-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Indeed it's not sufficient any more to clean the translations in cdbs,
we need to do it in pkgstriptranslations. I'll move the code there.

Then we need to rebuild a couple of packages which still have their
translations in the .desktop.

2009-03-25 Thread Wei Liang
Hi Pedro,

I don't have 0.12 installed on my machine. I'll try to download it sometime
next week if you're ok with the wait. I've tested it on 0.11.6 on my Ubuntu
8.10, same problem. Just remembered that this is a plugin problem, probably
nothing to do with Rhythmbox.

Thanks for the prompt response!

Two different song of the same name in the same album are not able to store

[Bug 348202] [NEW] Impossible to print to custom page size in Evince

2009-03-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: evince

Hi,

Printing anything on non-standard paper sizes is impossible. The
Custom paper size in system-config-printer does not allow you to
actually set anything. And the custom paper sizes setting in Evince does
not actually stick. After setting it and hitting apply, it reverts
back to A4. This is the case at least with the cups-pdf and hpijs
drivers.

Thanks.

[Bug 348202] Re: Impossible to print to custom page size in Evince

2009-03-25 Thread Till Kamppeter
CUPS itself treats custom paper sizes correctly. You can do it via the
command line

lpr -o PageSize=Custom.10x20cm file

The problem is the GUI implementation (most probably in GTK) for setting
a custom size from the printing dialog.

Moving to GTK ...

[Bug 348428] [NEW] Swithing to another user and then to anything else, freezes laptop. Jaunty

2009-03-25 Thread ichudov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I am using Jaunty Jackalope.

If I log on, then switch user to another user, and do anything to get
out of that second session, laptop freezes up. It does not respond to
any keyboard or mouse movement.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Log on as myself
2) Open a Guest session (but this will work with ANY second session)
3) Do anything to get out of the guest session, for example Ctrl-Alt-F1 or
Switch user

The laptop freezes up and becomes unusable. However, linux kernel
continues to run and I can SSH to the machine.

If I ssh, su to root, and do /etc/init.d/gdm restart, all sessions
disappear and things return to normal as if no one was logged on.

This is a very obnoxious bug, as the laptop is used by my entire family
and is almost unusable due to this bug.

This does NOT in any way depend on whether I run compositing window
manager.

Searches in Xorg.*.log yield messages in the last session's log (which I
am not sure have much to do with behavior):

[Bug 301174] Re: Annoying system beep plays instead of alert sound

2009-03-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Fwiw, I see exactly what Scoot sees (err... hears) on Jaunty. A very harsh,
loud beep instead of the pleasant sound from the theme:
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=b93fbbb2e5dcf9271d4b078ca1b4abd99b6b854d

However, I can use System/Preferences/Sound and uncheck 'Play alert
sound' on the Sounds tab to completely silence it.

[Bug 116503] Re: Inconsistency between Copy and Move while Drag and Droping

2009-03-25 Thread Jack Wasey
This is very much still a bug in Jaunty, post alpha 6

Drag on it's own copies (which I think is incorrect - it should MOVE by
default - who wants to duplicate menu items?)

Drag-ctrl removes the +, indicating it is going to copy, but this is not
allowed.

(The focus moves to the destination folder after a copy. I think it
should stay in the source folder. this is another wishlist item I
guess.)

I don't know about the Gnome usability requirements, but I strongly
expect that we don't match up.

[Bug 164296] Re: [gutsy] Nautilus Places lists mounted RAID mirrors twice

2009-03-25 Thread David Morgado
Hello I think this problem is not related to gnome-vfs or gvfs or anything of
gnome.
The issue here might be related with hal and lvm. Dmraid volumes are not known
to hal or lvm so they freak out when they scan your hard disks. In case of raid
1 (mirrors) it makes sense to apear in duplicate, same thing happens to me with
Debian Lenny, you basicly have 2 hard disks with the very same layout /
partitions, see the pattern here? With raid0 those volume don't even show up
but the boot process complains a lot about seek past the end of the drive and
stuff.

Until hal and lvm start looking at the dmraid metadata we have to make them
ignore those hard disks part of the dmraid volume, see this:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/ataraid-list/2005-December/msg00011.html
Haven't tested it yet, just looking around and all this occurred to me.

Unless someone has a better idea where to fix this, good luck to us all
;)

[Bug 348468] [NEW] Intermitent sound in OpenOffice.org Impress extracted audio

2009-03-25 Thread gudwin
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu version of OpenOffice.org Impress uses gstreamer to play
audio files embedded in presentations. In most of these audio files (but
not all), the sound is intermittent, something like the insertion of
about 500ms bits of silence at each 1s of playing audio. The result is
an awful sound being played. Uninstalling the gst-plugins-ugly and
installing the gst-plugins-ugly-multiverse apparently solves the
problem, but it implies in the missing of some functionality (some
codecs not being played). This is happening for the 0.10.9 and 0.10.9-1
versions of gst-plugins-ugly in an updated intrepid machine.

[Bug 310353] Re: Default font size too large if using native DPI

I am seeing different behavior on two different systems. On my system

opinion).

How can I go about diagnosing the problem?

[Bug 347024] [NEW] [Jaunty] gnome-volume-control not displaying device mixers correctly

2009-03-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Issue is with gnome-volume-control not displaying proper window contents
after switching devices.

Test case:
1) Start gnome-volume-control via either panel or command line
2) Note window contents and number of tabs for initial device displayed
3) Select another device (any device) from drop down menu
4) Note change of window contents to show only Sound Theme tab
5) Switch device back to initial device and note no change of window contents.

Cycling through the devices will change window contents with no
determinable pattern
