[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use
Might I suggest this: Create a ~/Templates folder by default (by placing it in /etc/skel), and populate it with symbolic links to new template files located at /usr/share/default-templates (this is a new directory, and files in here do not show up as templates by default, unlike /usr/share/templates). This can be done entirely with a separate package (default-templates) and shouldn't bother upstream. It will allow the user to remove a template (by deleting the symbolic link), and allow us to update a template (by updating the package). The downside is that we can't add any new templates to an existing user's folder when they upgrade, but that's also the situation today. I don't see an easy way of allowing users to delete templates while also shipping a default set, not without upstream code changes. -- Create Document Templates difficult to use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 396459] Re: auto-login settings not migrated
Hello Dave, Dave Stroud [2009-07-13 11:19 -]: I used the login window utility from system/administration/login window. This is not here anymore. Indeed, there's a separate bug for that. Robert Ancell wants to look into writing a replacement. I have now gone into all of gdm conf. AutomaticLoginEnable=true AutomaticLogin=bigdavesr files # Timed login, useful for kiosks. Log in a certain user after a certain amount # of time. TimedLoginEnable=true TimedLogin=bigdavesr TimedLoginDelay=10 They all look like above now. They still dont work. thanks They need to be in custom.conf now (which is what above migration code does). -- auto-login settings not migrated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396459 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use
we discussed the topic on IRC again yesterday, some notes: * where to ship the templates? - in each application? in which case you can easily have duplicate office templates for openoffice and abiword for example - in a template package? it's easy to install but lack granularity, what to do if the corresponding application is not installed? - in a extra binary for each application, texteditor-template? * in what directory to install those? using a cross desktop one or a GNOME specific dir? some people use non GNOME applications on GNOME * do we need a way for users to mask system templates they are not using? how do we do that? do we need a template editor? -- Create Document Templates difficult to use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 397980] Re: evolution deletes all e-mails in a folder after renaming
Thanks for your quick response. The problem is reproducible: Steps: -create a new main folder with name 'test1' -in folder 'test1' create subfolder 'test2' -move some messages e.g. from the 'removed messages' folder into folder 'test1' -move a message from folder 'test1' into folder 'test2' -rename folder 'test1' to 'test3'. -move one message from folder 'test3' into subfolder 'test2'. after completion of this action folder 'test3' contains no messages. only the subfolder 'test2' is present. -subfolder 'test2' contains only the message that was moved into this subfolder in the previous step.the message move earlier into this subfolder has disappeared. I repeated this test as follows: -create a new main folder with name 'test1'. -in folder 'test1' create subfolder 'test2'. -in subfolder 'test2' create subsubfolder 'testx'. -move messages into 'test1', 'test2' and testx'. -rename 'test1' to 'test3'. -move a message from 'test1' into 'testx'. : 'test3' lost all messages, the messages in 'test2' survived, 'testx' contained only the message moved just into this subsubfolder. Hope this helps to solve the problem. [Bug 343219] Re: Adding Fast User Switcher applet causes shut down options to disappear from System menu
I hate to have to decide between shutdown entries in the system menu and using the FUSA. It just had to be be done again as I installed Jaunty for a friend. She expected to be able to shutdown by menu and couldn't figure out how to do it on her own. She does switch accounts for the family occasionally but values shutting down by keyboard more. In the end we deleted FUSA. Why on earth does one have to choose one or the other?
