[Bug 410604] [NEW] Power Manager reports incorrect battery charge
Public bug reported: I have a second-gen MacBook, 15 inch white version with original battery. Latest battery firmware (1.4) applied in OS X. The battery still holds charge and works as it ought to. I have external lights that show me how much charge there is and whether the battery is charging. I took my laptop off power about 2 hours ago, and allowed it to slowly discharge. I then plugged it back into power about 1 hour ago. I am attaching screenshots to show what power manager is reporting. It correctly identified that the power slowly drained, but when I plugged the AC power back in, it declared that there is 2.8% charge remaining and has done so for the last hour. I can confirm using my external lights that my battery discharged no lower than 80% and then was charging betwen 80 and 100% for the last hour. Also, looking at the power statistics, it seems as though something is SNAFU. It appears as though one of the numbers is miscalculated. Also, my laptop reported 2.8% full for an hour when the rate was 2.8 Watts. Is it confusing the percentage-full with the wattage? [Bug 31037] Re: Vino-server takes 90% of cpu when only listening for incoming connections
Disabling remote desktop worked for me in Jaunty; thanks, Mr. Mike, for the tip about the command line. Can I make a plea to get this fixed? I came to Hardy from Windows almost exactly a year ago, and I have loved the experience. Compared to XP, my 5-year-old Dell soared. Then yesterday (2009-08-07) I upgraded to Jaunty, and found my machine almost unusable, with the load on the processor running at 300 - 600%. I lost a night's sleep but finally found this fix. If this had been my experience a year ago, as someone thinking of switching to Linux, I probably would not have stuck around. [Bug 309778] Re: KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type
Actually for me, xdg-mime query filetype returns application/x-jar, which does not exist, instead of application/x-java-archive. kmimetypefinder returns the following results: $ kmimetypefinder -f JDownloader.jar application/x-java-archive (accuracy 20) $ kmimetypefinder -c JDownloader.jar application/zip (accuracy 40) I do not see how the score of the filename-based result can be so low. At least it returns x-java-archive. Actually, I have an idea: the mime database also contains an application/java-archive key, which associates jar files with the Sun Java Runtime. I have completely reinstalled my system with 9.04. However, at first I installed Ubuntu (with Gnome), so maybe that also has to do something with it? [Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation
Right, ok, the .pc/ folder will exist during build time when the translations are stripped from the package, as the patches will be applied for the build. There's not anything we can do about that. This folder contains the original version of any source files touched by a patch so that the original versions can be restored when the patch is removed. If a patch updates a pot file then the original pot file will appear solmewhere in the .pc/ folder - that's just the nature of how the Quilt patch system works. -- Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hello Yannick, I cannot answer your question as I have not tried ekiga again, mainly because I [eventually] tracked down the likely cause of ekiga not working to a hardware issue with the modem/router from my isp, which I have been unable to port forward ??? locked by isp ??? Previously I could connect to another ekiga user via an IM connection, but had no audio, due to having a 'symmetric' router issue. Now all the settings seem to be right, ie the 'sip:5...@ekiga.net' connects, I have a registered account and I have what I believe is a correct static IP address (sorry not great at network stuff) going to a STUN server - I get no IM any longer, and still have no audio to another ekiga account - The problem seems to be no connection, but if all the settings are working as attested to by the setup wizard/druid, what is the issue? [Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'
Glyph, the change New - Fix Released happened in the project PulseAudio (have a look at the top of this bug for that). Next to it there is a bug number. If you follow the link you get to the bug in the upstream bug tracker (upstream is where the developers of the software are and fix the bugs, we then pull the new package version). This helps us keeping track of the progress. If you read through the comments in the upstream bug you'll see that it says: * status changed from new to closed * resolution set to fixed * milestone set to 0.9.16 This was a problem with dlunloading modules if I remember. Which has been fixed a while back in PA. Closing In this case they actually provid a version number the bug fix will be present in: 0.9.16 Then, we (the bug triagers) will have a look at the version that is currently in ubuntu (rmadison is a great tool for that): *snip* pulseaudio | 1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.2 | jaunty-updates | source, amd64, i386 pulseaudio | 1:0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu4 |karmic | source, amd64, i386 You can see that the development version karmic already ships with a test-version of 0.9.16 so this bug might already be fixed. [Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation
The problem is that those files get stuck in the translations import queue, 'cause they don't have a POT template files. But even if they had one they will probably get stuck since the source path is not know to Launchapd. If those files are there only as a backup thing, we can block them from being imported into Rosetta (I'm talking about only .po files), and they won't be imported anymore. If a completely new translation is added and patched, it will show up since it will be new to Rosetta, though. That's why it should be better to remove that directory from the translations traballs. [Bug 410604] Re: Power Manager reports incorrect battery charge
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. We need to test this in Karmic because there has been significant changes in how batteries are handled since Jaunty. [Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation
Milo - it's not possible to remove this folder, as it doesn't exist in the source tarball. It is created dynamically at build time by the quilt patch system, when the patch-set is applied.
