[Bug 290543] Re: Can't toggle audio recording for devices in Volume Control applet to 'on' state

This bug affects me as well. I cannot see from the above descriptions
how it would be fixed. Which gnome-media package version do I need so it
is fixed in Intrepid?

[Bug 410604] [NEW] Power Manager reports incorrect battery charge

2009-08-08 Thread Richard Cavell
Public bug reported:

I have a second-gen MacBook, 15 inch white version with original
battery. Latest battery firmware (1.4) applied in OS X. The battery
still holds charge and works as it ought to. I have external lights
that show me how much charge there is and whether the battery is
charging.

I took my laptop off power about 2 hours ago, and allowed it to slowly
discharge. I then plugged it back into power about 1 hour ago. I am
attaching screenshots to show what power manager is reporting. It
correctly identified that the power slowly drained, but when I plugged
the AC power back in, it declared that there is 2.8% charge remaining
and has done so for the last hour. I can confirm using my external
lights that my battery discharged no lower than 80% and then was
charging betwen 80 and 100% for the last hour.

Also, looking at the power statistics, it seems as though something is
SNAFU. It appears as though one of the numbers is miscalculated. Also,
my laptop reported 2.8% full for an hour when the rate was 2.8 Watts.
Is it confusing the percentage-full with the wattage?

Richard

[Bug 31037] Re: Vino-server takes 90% of cpu when only listening for incoming connections

2009-08-08 Thread Kevin Safford
Disabling remote desktop worked for me in Jaunty; thanks, Mr. Mike, for
the tip about the command line.

Can I make a plea to get this fixed? I came to Hardy from Windows almost
exactly a year ago, and I have loved the experience. Compared to XP, my
5-year-old Dell soared. Then yesterday (2009-08-07) I upgraded to
Jaunty, and found my machine almost unusable, with the load on the
processor running at 300 - 600%. I lost a night's sleep but finally
found this fix.

If this had been my experience a year ago, as someone thinking of
switching to Linux, I probably would not have stuck around. Windows
users thinking of switching today are directed to Jaunty, and this bug
could be the killer.

[Bug 309778] Re: KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type

2009-08-08 Thread David Nemeskey
Actually for me, xdg-mime query filetype returns application/x-jar,
which does not exist, instead of application/x-java-archive.

kmimetypefinder returns the following results:
$ kmimetypefinder -f JDownloader.jar
application/x-java-archive
(accuracy 20)
$ kmimetypefinder -c JDownloader.jar
application/zip
(accuracy 40)

I do not see how the score of the filename-based result can be so low.
At least it returns x-java-archive. Actually, I have an idea: the mime
database also contains an application/java-archive key, which associates
jar files with the Sun Java Runtime.

I have completely reinstalled my system with 9.04. However, at first I
installed Ubuntu (with Gnome), so maybe that also has to do something
with it? It is not on my system anymore, though.

[Bug 410617] [NEW] Update F-Spot to 0.6.0

2009-08-08 Thread b3n87
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Before Feature Freeze kicks in, can we have F-Spot updated to 0.6.0?
Here is the NEWS file:

f-spot 0.6.0.0 - Aug 07 2009 - Sliced

no longer depends on libeog
fighting against deprecation, on the path to gnome3
new viewer widget
new widget showing folders organisation
new Preference dialog
db and config moved to .config (or whatever is pointed by xdg config)
tons of bugs fixed (really)
updated translations

Nothing massive on the UI front, but apparently lots of bugs have been fixed

Cleaned up the patch significantly, re-enabled the grouping and
horizontal panels, and as an added bonus added multiple column support

[Bug 391239] Re: Totem sets the GNOME global volume when changing volume and mutes volume between videos

2009-08-08 Thread Rocko
The upstream bug status is marked 'resolved/not a bug', so I don't think
anyone there will be looking at it.

totem is muting audio on my Karmic when I first start it. I vote that
the importance should be marked higher than 'low', since Ubuntu is a
multi-media o/s and this bug makes it look like audio doesn't work in
its default media player.

[Bug 410658] [NEW] Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation

2009-08-08 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

The current version of the package has a hidden directory with po files
in it. The tree is like this:

.pc/05-fix_locales.patch
.pc/06-add_keybinding_DoNotSave.patch

A quick look at a couple of those files (done with diff), looks like the
.pc files are older than the one in the normal po/ directory.

As discussed in the ubuntu-translations-list [1], this might be
confusing to translators, and we agreed on merging all translations in
one single template as most of the other packages do.

Seb mentioned this rule in the debian/rules file:

include /usr/share/gnome-pkg-tools/1/rules/patch-translations.mk

so the fix might be as simple as removing it.

[Bug 410674] [NEW] Translations: Remove po.saved/ directory in the translations tarball

2009-08-08 Thread Milo Casagrande
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

When scanning the import queue in Launchpad Rosetta for issues that need
manual intervention, I found the following issue with the mesa package
which prevents a smooth import into Launchpad Rosetta and causes the
Ubuntu Translation Coordinators to manually adjust or remove .po files.

There is a po.saved/ directory with po files in it. Looking at the those
files, looks like those they are outdated compared with the ones in po/.

Should that directory be removed?

2009-08-08 Thread Chris Coulson
Right, ok, the .pc/ folder will exist during build time when the
translations are stripped from the package, as the patches will be
applied for the build. There's not anything we can do about that. This
folder contains the original version of any source files touched by a
patch so that the original versions can be restored when the patch is
removed. If a patch updates a pot file then the original pot file will
appear solmewhere in the .pc/ folder - that's just the nature of how the
Quilt patch system works.

 Bug description:
I have gone to considerable difficulty getting ekiga to a point where it
connects to the ekiga '500' address and I can successfully do the audio
test where I can hear what I have said return through the earphones
during the druid setup phase. My account is recognized as being
registered, but it won't connect to another ekiga user. It is stuck in
'standby' mode and does nothing, other than immediately disconnect.
Previously I could connect to another ekiga user via an IM connection,
but had no audio, due to having a 'symmetric' router issue. Now all the
settings seem to be right, ie the 'sip:5...@ekiga.net' connects, I have a
registered account and I have what I believe is a correct static IP
address (sorry not great at network stuff) going to a STUN server - I
get no IM any longer, and still have no audio to another ekiga account -
The problem seems to be no connection, but if all the settings are
working as attested to by the setup wizard/druid, what is the issue?
Does the setup wizard work correctly or is it in error? I am happy to
 supply logs and anything requested.
The computer has a gigabyte ma770-ds3 motherboard, 4800+ amd dual core
cpu, 2gb of 800mhz ram, nvidia 8600 gpu. Headphones are logitech and

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'

2009-08-08 Thread Martin Mai
Glyph, the change New - Fix Released happened in the project
PulseAudio (have a look at the top of this bug for that). Next to it
there is a bug number. If you follow the link you get to the bug in the
upstream bug tracker (upstream is where the developers of the software
are and fix the bugs, we then pull the new package version). This helps
us keeping track of the progress.

If you read through the comments in the upstream bug you'll see that it
says:

* status changed from new to closed
* resolution set to fixed
* milestone set to 0.9.16

This was a problem with dlunloading modules if I remember. Which has been fixed
a while back in PA. Closing

In this case they actually provid a version number the bug fix will be
present in: 0.9.16

Then, we (the bug triagers) will have a look at the version that is currently
in ubuntu (rmadison is a great tool for that):
*snip*
pulseaudio | 1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.2 | jaunty-updates | source, amd64, i386
pulseaudio | 1:0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu4 |karmic | source, amd64, i386

You can see that the development version karmic already ships with a
test-version of 0.9.16 so this bug might already be fixed. After some
testing feedback (best from the bug reporter, because he had the
problem) the bug can be closed :).

[Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation

2009-08-08 Thread Milo Casagrande
The problem is that those files get stuck in the translations import
queue, 'cause they don't have a POT template files. But even if they had
one they will probably get stuck since the source path is not know to
Launchapd.

If those files are there only as a backup thing, we can block them
from being imported into Rosetta (I'm talking about only .po files), and
they won't be imported anymore. If a completely new translation is added
and patched, it will show up since it will be new to Rosetta, though.
That's why it should be better to remove that directory from the
translations traballs.

Do you assure me it's not possible to remove that directory?

[Bug 410604] Re: Power Manager reports incorrect battery charge

2009-08-08 Thread Scott Howard
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next
release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release
at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. We need to test this in Karmic
because there has been significant changes in how batteries are handled
since Jaunty.

If it does exist in Karmic, could you run the following command into the

[Bug 410658] Re: Merge/Remove .pc/ files into the main translation

2009-08-08 Thread Chris Coulson
Milo - it's not possible to remove this folder, as it doesn't exist in
the source tarball. It is created dynamically at build time by the quilt
patch system, when the patch-set is applied. I really don't think
there's anything that can be done in gthumb to stop that.

However, pkgstriptranslations could possibly be modified to ignore this
folder, and not copy the translations from there. Assigning this to
pkgbinarymangler for now.

[Bug 410767] [NEW] Fullscreen gedit

2009-08-08 Thread Jim Bauwens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Hello,
When I am in gedit and enter fullscreen, switch to another workspace and move
my mouse to the top of the screen I get the gedit fullscreen control bar (Save,
quit, etc).
Normally this only should popup in the workspace of gedit.
I guess this is a bug.

I reported this bug using the 'report a problem' button.
I saw that it reports my computer as Linux Mint, but its not. I just have
mintsystem installed on Ubuntu 9.04.

 Hi,

We need a debug output to understand the issue.

Start Ekiga using this command in a terminal:
 $ ekiga -d 4 2output.txt
Wait for the registration to succeed, call and wait until the call fails.
Close Ekiga. Attach the file ouput.txt here.

 Best regards,
 Yannick

labeled.

Related to Bug 408054 at all?

file-roller does have a lot of broken drag/drop. I think the drag and
drop facilities should be redone.
