[Bug 437489] Re: main window deformed by cover art

This happens with other removable media as well. Insert a FAT-formatted flashdrive without a volume label; the side pane and desktop icons read "1.0 GB Filesystem" or suchlike, while nautilus pulls the name from /media as it's window title (eg "330B-5F85 File Browser"). [Bug 417491] Re: Rhythmbox fails to stop suspend process in karmic
Upstream gnome has a patch for this, but they seem unsure about applying it. Maybe Ubuntu can help here, either by refining the patch so that it satisfies upstream, or by servicing the ubuntu user base by applying the patch to the ubuntu packages, so that there are no "bad surprises" when Karmic final is released. [Bug 437415] [NEW] cdrom0 and floppy0 not physically present
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I am running Karmic UNR Alpha 5 on an Asus EEE PC 701. When I ran update manager yesterday a distribution update occurred. After rebooting I clicked on files and folders in the UNR menu. Volumes cdrom0 and floppy0 appeared. Who put these into the linux kernel? Dell, for example, obsoleted floppy drives in 2004. Why has ubuntu 5 years later resurrected them? Obviously they are not present on my system because when I click on them nothing happens. It is unacceptable to rely solely on a closed source BIOS for information about connected devices. Linux needs to probe the devices to see that their registers etc are active and that the devices can be viewed by the user before making icons for them. My EEE PC can potentially have a lot of storage devices and phantom devices make the situation unmanageable. My current system has sda, the SILICONMOTION 4GB internal flash with Xandros on it, a 320GB Western Digital passport sdb with karmic on it, sdc which is an SD card reader and sdd when I plug in a USB flash key as well as the external Samsung USB CD burner which I use to make Linux live CDs. [Bug 437405] [NEW] gnome panel and nautilus crash after Hibernate/Suspend during connection through sftp
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Gnome panel, nautilus, and gedit crash when Nautilus and Gedit are browsing text files through sftp connection and computer is hibernated or suspended. Not much else to report. This is a consistent problem for me. My system information should be attached because I used the "Report a bug" feature in Nautilus. This is a serious problem that makes it rather pointless for me to utilize suspend or hibernate. Suspend and hibernate are supposed to save time, but when I encounter this problem I end up wasting about 15 minutes and losing all my settings, which defeats the purpose of suspend or hibernate. I'd be glad to report more info, just tell me what. Hi Sebastien! This bug is fixed for Ubuntu 9.10 karmic alpha 6 :D Thanks very much for your work!! We're very happy! I find 2 littles bugs: 1. We must have installed the Asturian & Spanish language in Ubuntu. By example: a. Asturian & Spanish & English languages installed: If I choose the Asturian language in GDM, Ubuntu appears in Asturian. b. Asturian & English languages installed: I can choose the Asturian language in the GDM, but Ubuntu appears in english. This is a little bug, because it isn't normal has installed only English & Asturian. Do you know something about this issue? :) 2. Never appears the Asturian keyboard variant in the GDM. If the Asturian keyboard variant is choosed in System/Administration/Keyboard, in the GDM appears "Spain" variant, not "Spain (Asturian variant with bottom-dot H and bottom-dot L)" variant. Do you like that we create another bug for this littles issues? You can close as solved this bug! THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!! Cheers! [Bug 305428] Re: evolution-data-server eats memory like crazy
I'm not sure if this helps anyone, but I landed here after running out of RAM and swap space. I'm not using Evolution at all, but I am using Pidgin. The gang of three, made up by Pidgin, Notify-OSD, and Evolution- Data-Server, were eating all my RAM. Now, I see that Notify-OSD has been fixed in Karmic. I can blame myself for Pidgin's memory, since I use it for IRC without closing the windows for weeks in a row. The only thing left is explain EDS's memory usage without me using any Evolution. When I boot the computer, and start Pidgin, EDS uses a bit less than 10 MB of RAM. When I ran out of memory, it was using 169 MB.
