[Bug 509509] Re: non-default color theme corrupted after gnome-settings-daemon restart
Similar things happen here with gnome-terminal 2.29.1-0ubuntu3 when switching themes. Only the the terminals background color seems affected though. Switching from Human to DarkRoom gives a DarkRoom-brown background color #4C4039, switching back to Human makes it an unreadable (white text on) light-grey #E6DDD5. Apparently gnome-terminal applies the themes window color for the background despite being told not to, i.e. having Use colors from system theme unchecked. -- non-default color theme corrupted after gnome-settings-daemon restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509509 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 518719] [NEW] Spaces and special characters in filenames
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gthumb Hi, When the filename contains a space, the code %20 is printed instead. I think we will have the same issues for accentuated and national characters. This is not very pretty and meaningful, specially for non IT users... Also, I think that the file:// protocal prefix is useless. May be, all this this was done to allow opening the file in a document url, but I think that it should be only an option, if really useful. In my mind, the most efficient would be to print only the filename, not the directory names. Most people simply identify their images like this, and would be happy to see only this printed. In fact, the path relative to the directory entered would be the best. Do not forget dummies ! [Bug 518751] [NEW] netinstall and package dependencies problem
Public bug reported: I'm having problem getting clean netinstall of Ubuntu 8.04 or 9.10 Server. I'm doing PXE boot and it is working fine. Everything goes ok until tasksel. I can't do any offline boot method on this particular machine - no floppy, no cd, no usb booting possible. After selecting nothing or OpenSSH server I can't get mostly- minimal install because language-pack-gnome-en is being installed at some point causing a lot of unnecessary packages being installed as dependencies (like openoffice.org, parts of x.org, whole bunch of gnome related stuff and multimediamedia related stuff too - over 120 MB of packages, 120-130 pieces). What I have tried: - different apt mirror - different http proxy - different Ubuntu versions (8.04 and 9.10) - messing around with aptitude (Manual package selection) during tasksel and forcibly deselecting language-pack-gnome-* packages, which doesn't do anything, they are installed anyway. Steps required to reproduce: - do a PXE boot netinstall of 8.04 or 9.10 - use pl.archive.ubuntu.com or de.archive.ubuntu.com as repositories, and use any kind of http proxy to connect to them. - during tasksel phase select nothing or OpenSSH Server - wait - note the moment where language-pack-gnome-en being installed and how much dependencies it will cause. I tried offline (usb,cd) installs of both editions on different machine and those are working as expected. [Bug 197537] Re: [MASTER] Can't read PDF file with CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) text
hi again, after playing with ubuntu-ja-setup-helper (which is quite dangerous by the way, it uninstalled me thunderbird and other things), I managed to read the documents with Evince. By looking in my Synaptics history, I uninstalled the packages one by one, and it seems that the package poppler-data (Karmic version: 0.2.1-5) allows me to read the documents. I then uninstalled all the fonts-related packages (the 3 above, and ttf-kochi-gothic, ttf-kochi-mincho, otf-ipafonts, gsfonts-x11, opfc-..., ttf-ipamonafont), and I still can read the docs. If I uninstall poppler-data, I can't read the docs any more. In conclusion: it looks like poppler-data was not installed by default on Karmic, and that it allows me to read the docs. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. [Bug 489977] Re: Inaccessible directory has same emblem as read-only directory
Hm, do your user2's directories have the same permissions as mine? Or are your directories of user2 group writeable? It would be OK for them not to have a lock emblem then, if you are browsing as user1 and member in the user2 group. Further details on the issue I observe: * The theme used in ubuntu is just called Human not humanity. * In the *symbol view*, I see the Desktop/ with lock emblem in the upper right corner (correct with the above mentioned perms) *and* private/ with the lock-emblem (not correct). The private/ directory has a X emblem in the lower right corner (correct). * In the *list view*, the X-emblem for private/ is not shown (but wrongly a lock emblem). Second, right clicking adjust date time, or left clicking Time Settings and changing the time only lasts for the session. As soon as you reboot, the time setting goes back to the old time zone data. The only way to actually fix the hour is to follow these directions: Try to change your timezone using the command line: 1. Open a terminal window by going to Applications = Accessories = Terminal 2. dpkg-reconfigure tzdata 3. Follow the directions in the terminal. The GUI should provide the ability to change your timezone, or better still, just adjust your time. The user should not have to think about timezones to adjust his clock. Moreover, when adjusting timezones you can't give the CLI tool your timezone, your first to pick a city in your timezone from an alphabetical list. [Bug 432631] Re: sudo only preserves some, but not all proxy env vars
This was just discussed in #ubuntu-devel. That was the plan: * Drop the gconfery from apt's daily cron job * Move the gconfery to apt's postinst, to set the proxy during upgrade to lucid, once. This means that we can entirely drop all hacks from lucid+1 on. * Drop the hack from sudo, so that it's back to upstream behaviour. * Change the wording in control-center to also point out that Apply system wide is necessary for package installation, if the proxy makes sense in a system wide context. ** Also affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = In Progress ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Martin Pitt (pitti) ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Martin Pitt (pitti) ** Also affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) = Michael Vogt (mvo) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) ** Summary changed: - sudo only preserves some, but not all proxy env vars + clean up system/per-user proxy handling ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Triaged ** Also affects: apt (Ubuntu Lucid) Importance: High Assignee: Michael Vogt (mvo) Status: Triaged ** Also affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Lucid) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) Status: Triaged ** Also affects: sudo (Ubuntu Lucid) Importance: Medium Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu Lucid) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.04-beta-1 ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Lucid) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.04-beta-1 ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu Lucid) Milestone: None = ubuntu-10.04-beta-1 ** Changed in: sudo Importance: Unknown = Undecided ** Changed in: sudo Status: Unknown = New ** Changed in: sudo Remote watch: Gratisoft Bugzilla #378 = None ** Project changed: sudo = null ** Changed in: null Status: New = Invalid -- clean up system/per-user proxy handling https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
