[Bug 526898] [NEW] Slow to release wireless lock in auto-login sessions

2010-02-24 Thread Vish
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

Since the latest git updates:
In an auto-login session, gnome-keyring is being slower to release the
nm-wireless lock .
If web apps are in the startup items [ex:
liferea/firefox/thunderbird/evolution] they try to connect at session start and
fail

_All_ the apps throw errors mentioning no connectivity. Whereas nm-
applet shows the connected towers.

After a few mins I have to refresh each of the _apps_ and then they are
connected and work.

[My guess is , since the gnome-keyring has not released the lock for the
nm-applet wireless connection. or is this an nm-applet bug?]

@Om26er , loubserp-mxit to mxit renaming is a separate bug. This bug was
about the icons not being present , which are present in empathy now.
Are you sure the upstream devs wanted the deal the renaming in this same bug ?
I just commented my discussion on #empathy in the bgo bug. IMO , You need to
open a separate bug upstream.

[Bug 526841] Re: Rhythmbox crashes while it should download a podcast in the Play Queue

2010-02-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

bash (but not dash or csh as far as I recall) contains code which is

The code in bash has been the subject of occasional bug reports for
some time.

The bug does not show when running in a tty, so it *is* X-related.

gnome-terminal, konsole and xterm all are independent - it's likely that
there is a common cause for this issue which is unrelated to any of these.

You may get some insight on the problem by using script to capture the
output of the shell (to see which characters are sent to the terminal).

That may be different between the Linux console and the X applications.

[Bug 526925] [NEW] delete does not work

2010-02-24 Thread arQon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

(no apport - it failed to ever complete after over a minute, and btw,
the cancel button on it doesn't work)

not a dupe of #42571, since that's supposedly fixed - despite reports to
the contrary since the claimed fix...

also not a dupe of #192629, since that says can't move to trash and
then offers delete.

eog in current 9.10 does neither. file on ntfs partition cannot be moved
to trash in eog, and can't be deleted outright because eog is also
ignoring the preferences specified in nautilus to allow real deletes,
and has no such option of its own.

file is 777, and can be rm'd from a terminal. *nautilus* exhibits the
(correct) behavior of 192629. eog is simply broken.

Error on deleting image foo bar.tga
 Couldn't access trash.

as an aside, eog also whines for confirmation of move to TRASH, which
is about as redundant and user-time-wasteful as you can get. how many
prompts do you need for a RECOVERABLE action?

[Bug 526747] [NEW] battery applet popup is empty

2010-02-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

Just upgrade to latest lucid here and the battery icon now moved from
systray (notification area) to the indicator applet. The problem is that
when I click the applet, the popup menu opens with no entries, just a
small empty widget. The problems happens in my netbook Aspire One

with the same package version.

[Bug 526898] Re: Slow to release wireless lock in auto-login sessions

2010-02-24 Thread Vish
The wireless network uses wep key[saved] for which the gnome-keyring has
a master keyring over , By lock , i meant this one.

Usually the keyring asks for user permissions to unlock the keyring and
connect to the network at every session start.

But I'v set the wireless connection as Available to all users so the
nm-applet is able to connect earlier itself, before the session...
I dont have to enter the password for the wireless access.

Now the problem that started recently is , i can see the nm applet being
connected with the signal bars , but all the apps throw errors of no
connectivity.

Yes, I noticed on update today that bug effects me too.
All was well with small improvements in power/battery indicator happening over

charge value or select power management from this applet.

Hover over applet and no info either.

Dell D420 with all updates.

[Bug 527014] [NEW] Themes with ampersands do not show up in appearance preferences

2010-02-24 Thread Oziriz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Themes with ampersands (the sign) do not show up in the Theme tab of
Appearance Preferences.

Using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click your desktop, click on Change Desktop Background.
2. Go to the Theme tab.
3. Modify a theme so you can save it.
4. Save it with a name like TestTheme (without quotes).
5. There's no new entry in the list of themes, but the file and folder were
created in the ~/.themes/ directory.

I also closed and re-opened the Appearance Preferences dialog, to make sure it
didn't need to be restarted, I copied the folder and renamed both the folder
and file to Test (without quotes) and it showed up in the theme list when I
re-opened the Appearance Preferences dialog.
After this I attempted to create a new theme without ampersands, and everything
worked as expected; the theme showed up in the list after entering a name and
no description and clicking Save.

[Bug 346083] Re: gnome-about-me misses fprintd for fingerprint authentication support

2010-02-24 Thread jedioetzi
thanks for the help, it works!

I still have the problem that if I start synaptic I don't see the credential
dialog. After swiping finger synaptic starts.
This happens with several admin apps, not all.

for gnome could be an idea to use an hash derived from the original fingerprint
as password for the keyring?

So the gdu monitor is running, and the strace shows that it did get the

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When opening rhythmbox for the first time through applications menu, it
doesn't open but goes directly to the systray. As you mentionned close
button should close, open button should open the program.

Let's say I want to listen to music, I need to open rhythmbox and then go to
the systray to clic show
and then select a song (as it is now focused) before putting it back to the
systray.

A normal behavior should be : open the program, choose your song to play
and throw it to the systray.

not likely, karmic is not a lts and focus now is on lucid, users didn't
have real issues with that in months it can probably wait until lucid
now and the workaround is easy enough, just restart the applet if needed

[Bug 527157] [NEW] Brightness controls create triple brightness changes on Dell Mini 1012

2010-02-24 Thread Mark Smith
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

When I use the brightness control keys from a fresh install, the brightness
jumps THREE increments.
By creating /etc/modprobe.d/video.conf and setting
options video brightness_switch_enabled = 0
I reduce this to consistently TWO brightness events, but this is still double
the normal events. If I kill gnome-power-manager, it returns to single
brightness events.

when hitting brightness up/down with gnome-power-manager, udevmonitor shows
UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
KERNEL - the kernel uevent

with gnome-power-manager not running, it shows no events.

[Bug 527088] Re: crash segfault libglib-2.0

[Bug 524816] Re: gnome-screensaver never activated after inhibiting

I confirmed this on Karmic. Once the inhibit is removed, if no

comes back up.

Uninhibiting should probably reset the idle timer.

[Bug 523631] Re: Softlink arrow icons too large on small images' thumbnails

2010-02-24 Thread malev
I'm sorry, I dind't mean about that image.
I need the small image you use to create the symbolic link.
So I can create a symbolic link here and check if the arrow that nautilus draw
cover the thumbnail of the original image. (is that your problem?)
