[Bug 651801] [NEW] Strings not translated (Organize by Name and Organize Desktop by Name)

2010-09-30 Thread Jean-Philippe Fleury
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I updated from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10, and now there are strings
that are not translated in Nautilus. In the right click pop-up, the
strings Organize by Name or Organize Desktop by Name are not
translated in my French system, but they should be because Nautilus 2.32
is 100% translated in French. See:

[Bug 565630] Re: empathy accounts right-hand information box has a light background but white text when using a dark theme

2010-09-30 Thread Eemil Lagerspetz
Sorry, It seems that it's not fixed.
I forgot to mention that the one that is unreadable is when you look at an
Available account. The red and orange backgrounds are OK. So, to reproduce
this:
0. Use a dark theme (Darklooks, darkroom, murrine wise dark, ... ) with white
foreground text
1. Open empathy accounts
2. Create an IRC account for example on irc.freenode.net
3. Login with it so that it becomes available
4. Notice the light yellow background and that the text on the right hand side
is unreadable.

[Bug 230797] Re: Totem crashes after using sleep mode

2010-09-30 Thread Sazhen86
Totem also crashes for me when I resume from sleep mode on my Dell D630.
Activating apport does not catch the error, but running totem in debug
mode from a terminal reports the following after resuming from standby
mode:

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 1959 error_code 11 request_code 133 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Following the instructions for debugging leads to the following stack
trace:

You can close the u-m task if you wish. I've added it because the upgrade
failed so badly.
Since the error is in a preinst, the package is half-installed, and at the end
of the upgrade, update-manager just stops saying it can't continue because of
the error, no rollback, no cleanup, leaving the system in an inconsistent state.

[Bug 484429] Re: Plugging in a LUKS device causes the following error: Error unlocking device: cryptsetup exited with exit code 239: Command failed: Device already exists

2010-09-30 Thread Martin Pitt
komputes,

this sounds like a more general problem, though -- I bet you can also
reproduce this with normal unencrypted USB sticks. Anyway, I think it's
worth filing a new bug about it. I guess what happens is that nothing
checks the state of USB devices after resuming, and thus there is never
a remove event for the device. This requires some more thorough
discussion what the right solution is.

[Bug 643118] Re: [RV350] Desktop corruption – Screen only shows vertical bands

2010-09-30 Thread Tormod Volden
It seems like similar issues have been discovered in bug 640807 so more
people are looking at it. When you have the possibility, try booting
with the boot option (added to the grub kernel line) radeon.modeset=0 to
check if this is a bug in the kernel video driver only.

Also try this, suggested in the other bug report: you can run sudo
touch /var/lib/gdm/gsd-debug-randr and restart gdm and you will get a
debug log /var/lib/gdm/gsd-debug-randr.log with details on what g-s-d is
doing

Best wishes for your surgery!

[Bug 640807] Re: Forces low refresh rate on CRT monitor

2010-09-30 Thread Tormod Volden
In bug 643118 the consequences are more serious, because g-s-d picks an
unsupported mode instead of the preferred one, and the display is messed
up. I understand the driver should not suggest broken modes, but what is
g-s-d trying to do anyway? Should it not just keep the preferred mode
that the X server set up?

Package libclutter-eglx-es20-1.0-0 is installed. Should I install some other

[Bug 651868] [NEW] nautilus exits during drive removal, no apport reporter comes up

to occur if you work with editors and enter a lot of text.
ADD2: When it happens, you can-not change or launch anything through popdown
kb-menu (but you can see it with no lags). I.e. keyboard preferences get also
blocked.

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes

2010-09-30 Thread Karl Lattimer
shoo what version of gnome-settings-daemon do you have?

I reproduced this once, fixed what I thought was the bug and released
the fix.

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes

2010-09-30 Thread divan
Yes, not only indicator text/flags does switch, but also layouts are
switching, so if you have, for example two layouts - English and
Russian, with letters 'q' and 'й' on the same key - and want to enter
'qq', the output will be 'qйqййqqййqйqq`. The indicator image(I
use country flags images) also change it's image about 10-30 times per
second, sometimes faster, sometimes slower - I guess it depends on
system CPU usage.

When the option 'Separate layout for each window' is disabled, the bug
doesn't occur. (I tested it on two machines with latest Maverick beta).

Karl, I can provide any info that will help to find the source of the
problem, just tell me what info is needed.

[Bug 636329] Re: Gimp won't print preview

2010-09-30 Thread frankie
I downloaded and installed older libcairo2 and libdirectfb from here:

  http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/i386/libcairo2/download
  http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/i386/libdirectfb-1.2-0/download

It keeps printing a blank page and I have broken some dependencies. My
big issues are for evince ,and f-spot. So I'll upgrade again to the
10.10 release of libcairo2.

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes

2010-09-30 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
As I've reported in bug #636619

It happens for me too. It's still there, I've just checked. It's
triggered by switching layout. After that, it goes crazy and layouts are
switched cycling between my previously configured ones rapidly. Scroll
lock led flashes as well (it's configured to show the non-primary
layout). I can't even type since pressing the same key generates random
character based on the fact which layout was active at the moment when I
pressed the key. xev reports things like this without stopping (even
without toucing the keyboard or the mouse after I managed to launch xev
in a terminal window):

My system was upgraded from the previous version of Ubuntu (lucid lynx)
I am wondering if it can cause the problem and it works with a 'clean'
install (ie: new home directory with gnome/etc settings created by the
current development version of ubuntu). I have four layouts configured,
one of them (USA) is the primary, the others are configured to be
signaled by the scoll lock led, and I switch layouts by key scroll
lock.

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes

2010-09-30 Thread shoo_ash
I have version 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 installed.
I found how to reproduce the bug. You should have several layouts and any open
window with text-input (eg gedit).
So try to minimize and restore the window, at the same time change the layout
with a key combination (several times) - il will reproduce the same bug, the
layout change will come to infinite loop.
I can make a video for you, if it is needed, with this bug reproduced.

The program 'rhythmbox' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 19016 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Some update:

I can run nautilus from console, so it's a problem with launcher.

When I press right mouse button on this icon I get a menu with 4 items:
Show copy dialog, File manager, Keep in Launcher and Quit.

Keep in Launcher is selected and using Quit do nothing.

Re: [Bug 649912] Re: SD Card Reader shows Incomplete / Corrupt Files

2010-09-30 Thread martin
Not sure if this is what you're after.

How do I report the crash with apport?

Also, Nautilus auto opens when the SD card is inserted and immediately
closes. You then have to restart it, before looking at the file
structure and going into the problems I described in the bug report.

On 29 September 2010 20:35, Pedro Villavicencio pe...@ubuntu.com wrote:

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: nautilus

 10.10 Beta
 Nautilus 2.32.0
HP 6700 Series Laptop with built-in SD (and multi-) card reader.

SD card reader displays incomplete or corrupted files. Eg, jpgs shown as
random coloured thumbnail or random characters. Some files are not displayed
at all. Some files are correctly displayed.

Opening an affected file (if you can see it) does not work. Different error
messages occur - 'could not open file' or 'type not supported' 'could not
display' etc. Some correctly displayed files also yield these messages.

Ejecting the card usually results in Nautilus closing/crashing. In some cases
browsing the file structure or attempting to open some files also crashes
Nautilus. When it closes there is no prompt for bug report.

The card reader was a problem a couple of years ago (8? Series of Ubuntu) on
my HP Laptop - simply didn't work at all but since Karmic/Lucid it's worked
 flawlessly.

Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at

[Bug 652018] [NEW] Eye of Gnome Save as different image type only works if you manually change the extension of the file before saving

2010-09-30 Thread joopbraak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

For instance, I have a BMP file, open it, do Save as, choose something
other then BMP. Eog doesn't change the extension automatically, and if
you don't change it manually before saving, the extension stays BMP and
the file itself is also still a BMP file !

If I for instance change the extension to JPG before saving as JPG, it
works like it should.

[Bug 651934] Re: The program 'rhythmbox' received an X Window System error

2010-09-30 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thanks for the report, could you run the program inside gdb? please run
it as:

gdb rhythmbox
(gdb) set logging on debug.txt
(gdb) break gdk_x_error
(gdb) run --sync
reproduce the crash and:
(gdb) thread apply all bt

Then please attach that resulting log file (debug.txt) to the report,
thanks in advance.

[Bug 651099] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in cairo_set_source_surface()

2010-09-30 Thread Jacob Litewski
After thinking it was a problem with Gnomecc, I reverted everything back
to normal, and then the desktop freaked out, going from a gray color
without icons to a black desktop with icons. It did this about 20 times
until the desktop, I assume, crashed. I have a picture attached.

I also branched off the current RGBA-GTK Nautilus and built it thinking
that was the problem. It didn't work.
