[Bug 693337] Re: Menus for choosing language should have one option per available translation
Hi David, The idea is about _refraining_ from showing all the locales, both in GDM and in language-selector's Language tab. (The tab in language-selector for other locale settings is the place for showing all the locales.) At the same time, the variants should be added to the GDM options as per bug 408474. Right now I have four installed languages: English, Swedish, German and Catalan. While 'locale -a | grep \.utf8' lists 29 locales, running the lang-list.pl script gives me: caCatalan ca...@valenciaCatalan (Spain - Valencia) enEnglish en_AU English (Australia) en_CA English (Canada) en_NZ English (New Zealand) en_GB English (United Kingdom) en_US English (United States) deGerman svSwedish These are some of my questions for the time being: * Would this be a suitable approach for determining available languages for message translation? * Is listing the /usr/share/locale-langpack directory a safe way to find available translations, or is there more into it? * As regards languages with more than one translation: When the country is not specified, does it matter which of the locales that is assigned to the LC_MESSAGES environment variable? If it does, how do we determine the main dialect of respective language? / Gunnar ** Changed in: ubuntu-translations Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/693337 Title: Menus for choosing language should have one option per available translation -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

unsound, you are my hero! Now user administration and Empathy are working. First I tried it my own, installed glib2.0 source version 26.0 and applied the patch. Otherwise we'd need to special case this application in at least 3 window managers. ** Package changed: compiz (Ubuntu) = gnome-utils (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609893 Title: If user hold PrintScreen button few seconds there is a hundreds of screeshot application windows -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 609893] Re: If user hold PrintScreen button few seconds there is a hundreds of screeshot application windows
Yes, it's reproducible, but we need to be sure in which ubuntu component is the problem. This is complex problem. Please read description: 1. If user press PrintScreen button call screenshot application. 2. If user still hold PrintScreen button and screenshot application already launched just do nothing. 3. If user press PrintScreen button when screenshot appliation minimized - say to screenshot application create new screenshot, but don't launch one more screenshot appliation. You see - for provide easy for understanding behavior screenshot applications should be fixed too. And well, it could be also solved by correctly spacing the repetition of the print screen hotkey What about item 3? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609893 Title: If user hold PrintScreen button few seconds there is a hundreds of screeshot application windows -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 549184] Re: brasero dialog please eject the CD yourself has a Cancel button instead of OK.
I'm getting the same dialog as Joonas. I don't understand why this dialog appears in the first place. It says The disc could not be ejected though it needs to be removed for the current operation to continue. - this is untrue. There is no reason why the disc even needs to be ejected. I was about to reboot and boot off it, so it's fine where it is. Why does brasero care? A better dialog would perhaps be along the lines of The disc could not be ejected automatically. Please eject it if needed. --- OK or simply The disc could not be ejected automatically. --- OK Or even how about NOT using a dialog, and just putting a message in the main window: Image successfully burned to CD. Please try to answer the following questions here: 1) If it is clicking on desktop, why is the package gnome-panel? 2) Does a restart let it work again? or is the only way to make it work again to remount the drive. 3) What does the unmount mean if it does not mean unmount the drive? [Bug 694862] [NEW] moving cursor over inactive window tabs changes their color to that of the active window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel If I have multiple windows active at the same time, rectangular tabs will appear across the bottom panel. The tab I have open/expanded will be highlighted a different color than the other (inactive) tabs. But when I move the cursor onto an inactive tab it will change to a color that is almost identical to the active tab. As a consequence I am constantly selecting the wrong tab when trying to switch between windows. This problem would be easily solved if inactive tabs in the bottom panel did not change color when the cursor is moved over them. ONLY the active tab should be highlighted or shaded a different color. Then the user can easily figure out which tabs are inactive even when the cursor moves over one of the inactive tabs. http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/26799/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gnome-panel 1:2.30.2-0ubuntu0.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-26.48-generic 2.6.32.24+drm33.11 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-26-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Dec 27 16:59:37 2010 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-panel InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100816.1) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-panel XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:1105): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1336): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1105): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1105): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1105): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694862 Title: moving cursor over inactive window tabs changes their color to that of the active window -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 553162] Re: Set $LANGUAGE if the user picks a different locale in gdm, so that language-selector and gdm stop disagreeing
Hi all, As you may have seen, fixes to this bug report were released in Natty on December 14, and yesterday Martin Pitt approved the last 'follow-up fix'. The issues were introduced in Lucid (Ubuntu 10.04), so I have prepared gdm and language-selector packages for Lucid and Maverick with similar changes. For the time being they are available at https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/locale-test Your feedback on the fixes would be much appreciated. For the case you would find buggy behavior that was discussed here, but has not been properly dealt with, please submit new, specific bugs. I for one picked up one such issue, and reported it as bug 693337. / Gunnar -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553162 Title: Set $LANGUAGE if the user picks a different locale in gdm, so that language-selector and gdm stop disagreeing -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
