If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 817049] Re: gs renders images as black boxes when generating PDF files
The problem appears to be caused by pdftops writing tiling pattern images as Type 3 fonts. I am assuming this was done to support level 1 PS. The PLRM section 4.9 (Patterns) states The ability to paint with patterns is a feature of LanguageLevels 2 (tiling patterns) and 3 (shading patterns). With some effort, it is possible to achieve a limited form of tiling patterns in LanguageLevel 1 by defining them as character glyphs in a special font and painting them repeatedly with the show operator. But section 5.7 (Type 3 fonts) states: Normally, it is unnecessary and undesirable to initialize the current color parameter, because show is defined to paint glyphs with the current color.. The PDF specification also contains the same text. The best solution would be to fix pdftops to use patterns for level 2 or higher output. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817049 Title: gs renders images as black boxes when generating PDF files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gs-gpl/+bug/817049/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 814703] Re: empathy icon looks bigger than usual
Yours actually renders better than on my systems. On mine, I can see the whole icon... but with a big gray background - and it covers up other items on the notifications panel. Other white-listed apps show the same behavior... though their icons tend to be the proper size. I hadn't opened a bug on it, since it renders exactly the same on both of my very dissimilar systems (i980x desktop with nVidia graphics, and CR-48 with intel chipset) - so I figured it was a known bug from the gtk3 conversion that just hadn't been worked out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/814703 Title: empathy icon looks bigger than usual To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/814703/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 820895] [NEW] Log File Viewer does not log Process Name
Public bug reported: The gnome Log File Viewer does not log the Process Name (or Application Name) that generated the log item. For example, if an outbound internet connection is blocked and this event is logged, only the ID (i.e., PID) is shown in the report. But the PID is useless because it is ephemeral and does not live past the session. Users are left with no way to learn what Application or Process was responsible for generating the log item. [Bug 820898] [NEW] Log File Viewer is difficult to interpret - needs different layout
Public bug reported: The Log File Viewer displays cryptic abbreviations followed by an equals sign to present items in the log. People find this layout difficult to read and interpret. It's not an efficient way to present the information. A more human friendly layout is possible. For example, a Nautilus like List or Details view with headers. [Bug 817049] Re: gs renders images as black boxes when generating PDF files
I don't have Oneiric installed. However I did try: pdf2ps firefox.pdf ps2pdf firefox.ps output.pdf and while it looks correct the text has been converted to bitmaps and as a result is not selectable. I also tried printing to PostScript from firefox and running ps2pdf. The result appears to be as good as the native PDF from firefox. Images worked and all text is selectable. So it should be possible to fix this by improving pdftops to use patterns instead of Type 3 fonts and use the correct glyph names so that gs can correctly encode the fonts.

[Bug 820980] [NEW] a part of the bottom panel missing after a context menu is launched
Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 11.04. The version of gnome-panel is 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5. [Bug 821024] [NEW] Last.fm applet is skipping songs or failing
Public bug reported: Hi all. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and I always open the Banshee music player to listen to songs on Last.FM.. What happens is that whenever I use it to go to a station, this applet always skips the first song of the list or ignore the existence of it. Also, the ability to skip songs one do not want to hear ( which is present in, say, amarok or the windows version of the player ) makes the whole thing stop playing and then loading other songs and playing the first song from the new list with the name of the song that was previously playing... [Bug 820372] Re: default session set to GNOME and fails. Should be Unity
IRC log: 17:24 stgraber hello, not sure if someone mentioned it here already but ISO testing found bug 820372 17:24 ubot2 Launchpad bug 820372 in ltsp default session set to GNOME and fails. Should be Unity [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/820372 17:24 stgraber which isn't an LTSP bug but a gnome-session one 17:24 stgraber LTSP calls /etc/X11/Xsession to start whatever is the default session (no parameter) 17:24 stgraber Xsession then starts gnome-session but without a --session= parameter which makes it fail 17:24 stgraber I think we had a fix in Natty to make it use a the right default session but that apparently got lost somewhere 17:25 stgraber was wondering what source package I should move that bug to? 17:25 cyphermox stgraber: what I would see was aside from the Ubuntu and Ubuntu 2D entries there was an extra GNOME one that shouldn't be there 17:26 cyphermox (outside of ltsp) 17:27 stgraber with Edubuntu we have gnome-session-fallback installed so apparently gnome-session starts the fallback session then (instead of unity-3d = unity-2d = gnome-session-fallback) but on regular Ubuntu, it just fails 17:28 cyphermox mmkay, so which case is failing now? 17:29 stgraber calling /etc/X11/Xsession with no parameter doesn't start the default session on regular Ubuntu 17:29 stgraber the same thing on Edubuntu works but starts the session fallback instead of unity (which is wrong too) 17:31 stgraber simply calling /etc/X11/Xsession from a terminal on your system should reproduce the issue 17:32 seb128 stgraber, can you check with didrocks when he's around? 17:32 seb128 stgraber, or better assigned the bug to canonical desktop team 17:32 seb128 we will sort it 17:41 stgraber seb128: ok, will do ** Changed in: ltsp (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) ** Package changed: ltsp (Ubuntu) = gnome-session (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Assignee: Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820372 Title: default session set to GNOME and fails. [Bug 745780] Re: multiple prompts from gnome-keyring
I've been dealing with this problem for some time, now in 11.04. Somethings I tried seemed to effect but not eliminate it. A password set called login would be created even though I already had a default by a different name. Keeping user.keystore I deleted all .keyring files except login.keyring. Having only one set of passwords called login set as default in the file default seemed to fix the problem of three prompts but not consistently. After noticing that I only got one prompt if I responded immediately I experimented and indeed delaying responding to the prompt will consistently yield three to be responded to. This behavior is consistent with that reported by steros but I thought my additional insight might be of value. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745780 Title: multiple prompts from gnome-keyring To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/745780/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
