[Bug 366235] Re: system monitor uses incorrect network speed (throughput) units

2012-01-25 Thread Robert Roth
Closing this issue, as there is a preference available to set the
network speed units, so this issue has been fixed. Compliance with the
Ubuntu Units Policy[1] is another issue, and should be treated
separately, if required.

reproducible 100% of the time. After I've replaced the squashfs image

[Bug 921528] Re: package python-gmenu 2.30.5-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 139

2012-01-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
application being used by the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Thanks CoolKoon, I missed that. So anyway, the problem doesn't seem like it was

[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.

2012-01-25 Thread David Scott
After reading this entire post, and finding nothing useful. The only
useful posting was the one about updating (searching for the poster,
crashed my FireFox) so I am not sure if this will help anyone.

[My System]
Ubuntu 10.04.3 (server) - updated to generic-pae - running Xubuntu-Desktop
Linux acer 2.6.32-38-generic-pae #83-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 4 12:11:13 UTC 2012
i686 GNU/Linux

The steps I took to fix the problem
Applications-Accessories-Terminal
$ sudo su -
$ aptitude search network
I looked for all that was installed, and what I thought would be needed to
maintain the network through apps instead of directly through the
/etc/network/interfaces file
I found and installed the below apps
$ sudo apt-get install network-manager network-config network-manager-gnome
gnome-network-admin --reinstall

The gui informed me after this install I needed to reboot, so I rebooted.
Once I rebooted, the notification icon didn't appear, and FireFox along with
other applications did start correctly, (ie NOT in Offline Mode)

[Bug 921071] Re: daap served files sometimes stop playing

2012-01-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I am still tracking this down, but I now have a local reproducer. If via
mt-daapd I go from this file:
redacted.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.3.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer
III, v1, 192 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo

to this file:
redacted.ogg: Ogg data, Vorbis audio, stereo, 44100 Hz, ~128000 bps, created
by: Xiph.Org libVorbis I (1.1.0 RC1)

Then rhythmbox will not play the second song. After some time, it will proceed
to a third song and play it fine:

[Bug 921610] [NEW] playback halts, refuses to play subsequent tracks

2012-01-25 Thread teledyn
Public bug reported:

The player is going along fine, stepping through the play list, and then
the playback on a subsequent track does not begin, the toolbar icon is
still in play-mode, but the progress needle does not move and the track
does not play; other apps are able to play sound (using aoss for
example); even if I select other tracks that have recently been played
(to show that it is not the fault of the mp3 itself) the player will not
play them. The only solution is to exit the program and start it up
again.

[Bug 921071] Re: daap served files sometimes stop playing

2012-01-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Ok, attaching rhythbox --debug output (trimmed and redacted). This skips the
loading of all the songs and playlists, but includes changing to a playlist I
created with only the above 3 songs. It seems that it stalls after ging from an
mp3 (2834.mp3) to an ogg file (3854.ogg). I have rhythmbox start with the mp3
and then advance to one of the oggs (in this case, the 'libVorbis I (1.0)' ogg.
Notice this in the debug output (ie, the time doesn't advance):
(09:03:12) [0xde5210] [tick_cb] rb-shell-player.c:3589: tick:

Indicator is still confused.
After latest updates of Precise the indicator allowed to turn on-off again. But
again after a reboot the indicator indicates 'on' and can't be turned off,

[Bug 737758] Re: Desktop icons move after login

2012-01-25 Thread Philipp
I have a similar problem. It does not depend on opening a window and i have
only seen it in Unity, because i do not use Unity2D.
Sometimes after the login, my Desktop Icons are tightened.
On my Screenshots you can see what i mean.
This does not occur in one step, but with every new bootup the Icons are more
and more pulled towards each other.

However I recall seeying double login not related to suspend in the

[Bug 832303] Re: Option “Display incoming events in the notification area” is unclear

2012-01-25 Thread Alex Mauer
I don’t expect the events displayed to change, I expect the description
to match what it does. Renaming it to “automatically open incoming
events” and reversing its sense would be one way to do this

[Bug 889278] Re: Screen is locked again after unsuspend and successful authentication

2012-01-25 Thread Florian Burger
I'm quite sure I found the reason for this behavior - A closer look at
my settings showed following:

[Screen:]
Turn off after: 10 minutes
Lock Screen after: Screen turns off

[Power]
Suspend when inactive for: 10 minutes

Therefore, what most probably happens is: Both Suspend and Screen Lock
are in this setting initiated at the same instant, however the Suspend
mode preempts the Screen Lock and so after the systems is resumed, the
Screen Lock is subsequently initiated.

The steps I took to fix the problem
 Applications-Accessories-Terminal
 $ sudo su -
 $ aptitude search network
I looked for all that was installed, and what I thought would be needed
to maintain the network through apps instead of directly through the
 /etc/network/interfaces file
I found and installed the below apps
 $ sudo apt-get install network-manager network-config
 network-manager-gnome gnome-network-admin --reinstall

The gui informed me after this install I needed to reboot, so I rebooted.
Once I rebooted, the notification icon didn't appear, and FireFox along
with other applications did start correctly, (ie NOT in Offline Mode)

2012-01-25 Thread Captain Chaos
My bug #921689 was just automatically marked as a duplicate of this one
by the apport retracing service. I just wanted to check whether that
is actually correct, as my crash has a different stack trace:

StacktraceTop:
 raise () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6
 abort () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6
 __assert_fail () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6
 _XAllocID () from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6
 XRenderCreateCursor () from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXrender.so.1

It occurred in XRenderCreateCursor(), not in XCreatePixmap(). Should I
leave it as a duplicate?
