Re: [Bug 946095] Re: font not visible in terminal plugin

2012-07-20 Thread Jan Groenewald
Hi

If you edit a file belonging to a package, it will be overwritten when
you receive an update for that package.

However creating a custom file here,

0 jan@tunis:~$grep -A1 gnome.gedit.plugins.terminal
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/00_aims_settings.gschema.override
[org.gnome.gedit.plugins.terminal]
use-theme-colors=false

And running

sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

will set this for your system (system-wide, for all users, as a default,
they can change it again).

Regards,
Jan

 I replace with

 fg = Gdk.RGBA(0, 0, 0, 1)
 bg = Gdk.RGBA(1, 1, 1, 1)

[Bug 986399] Re: Help links don't work in several games

2012-07-20 Thread Michael Nagel
I seem to have problems installing this upgrade.
With the Software Update GUI I cannot select the packages to be upgraded.
With apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade I see them marked as kept
back as cited below, but see no way to install them.

The following packages have been kept back:
  gnome-sudoku gnomine

The situation has been like that for some weeks now.
In desperation I tried synaptic, and the upgrade is possible using synaptic,
but the attached warning/info is displayed.

Best Regards
Michael

[Bug 1026994] [NEW] Sort by CPU time is wrong

2012-07-20 Thread Mathieu Sivade
Public bug reported:

The sort is happenning, but it looks like the processes were split into two
groups (arbitrarily, as far as I can tell), each group being sorted
independently. See the attached screenshot which is quite explicit.
NB:
  - Sorting by increasing order still kept them grouped, with the 3-items group
put at the end.
  - This grouping didn't affect sorting by any of the other columns I had set
up.

This is certainly not a major issue, it is just puzzling and could be an
inconvenience if the first group was larger.

[Bug 878993] Re: x.org lockup after dragging archived file to desktop (lxde)

2012-07-20 Thread Corentin SCHREIBER
I confirm the fix works after reboot. I do not have the issue described by
Marco Chiapetta.
However, if you try to drop the files on another file (and not a folder or
empty space), then you get the same message but without the mouse block.
Expected behavior is to extract the files in the current folder, as if they
were dropped on empty space (this is particularly annoying in detailed view,
where you have no empty space to drag files to). Maybe this is a pcmanfm
problem now ?

[Bug 878993] Re: x.org lockup after dragging archived file to desktop (lxde)

2012-07-20 Thread Marco Chiappetta
Sorry guys I didn't realize I installed i386 packages on a x86_64
installation of Lubuntu. Anyway I've just reinstalled them on a 32bit
system and now everything works fine. I'm not experiencing any kind of
errors and I'm free to move the dragged file wherever I want without
causing anything weird (even on files, of course without dropping it,
otherwise a simple Extraction not performed error appears but I can
close it and drag the file again).

Thank you very much :) Sorry for the initial mistake!

[Bug 1004515] Re: segfault in accounts-daemon when logging in

2012-07-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 314408] [NEW] Please separate automatically discovered remote printers from locally configured printers

2012-07-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The main reason why Debian/Ubuntu does not enable automatic use of
network printers broadcasted by remote CUPS servers by default is that
there is no way to tell apart locally configured (and thus trusted)
printers from those which got advertized by remote CUPS servers (and
thus open the possibility of luring someone into printing confidential
material onto a rogue network printer).

E. g. I have a locally configured local_ps printer, and an ML-1610
configured on a remote server which appears through cups browsing
detection. The print dialog currently looks like this:

  http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/screenshots/print_dialog_gtk.png

the printers look exactly the same, I have no way to tell which ones can
be considered trusted. It would be great to separate the locally
configured from the remotely detected ones:

  |_| Print to file |
  Locally configured printers:
  |=| HP DeskJet 123| room 10 |
  |=| Samsung Foo Color | |
  Automatically detected remote printers:
  |=| ML-1610 | dagobert |

Locally configured and automatically discovered remote printers can be
told apart with the CUPS_PRINTER_DISCOVERED flag (see cups/cups.h).

[Bug 1026810] Re: Empathy doesn't show any ICQ contacts

2012-07-20 Thread František Zatloukal
I've followed https://live.gnome.org/Empathy/Debugging .
New way (GUI way) can't be done because i don't have help == debug menu in my
empathy. I've duble checked empathy-dbg package presence(it wasn't installed,
so I've installed it and than launched empathy). Still i can't see debug menu
but something has changed after empathy launch it shows me a red error
toolbar at the top of empathy windows. There is ,,icq(icq_number) status set
to logged out(i don't know exact english term, i am using czech version).
After, i tried old debug way from https://live.gnome.org/Empathy/Debugging ,
but logs are empty (both).
Gdb package is present too.

[Bug 1027338] [NEW] striking almost any key while focus is on Desktop crashes nautilus

2012-07-20 Thread Luke
Public bug reported:

Using nautilus_1%3a3.5.4-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb in Ubuntu Quantal, striking
any key that does not have a binding to another program attempts to
invoke the search function of Nautilus, as it used to do when Nautilus
is managing the desktop. Beginning with this update (which fixed a lot
of other crashes and warnings), this has caused Nautilus to momentarily
draw borders around the edge of the desktop, then crash.

Tthe Desktop is essentially a nonchangable directory always displayed in
fullsceen with a separate background, so I figured the search code is
attempting to invoke functions not available to the Desktop display. I
can fullscreen a normal Nautilus window and then strike a key, and the
search box comes up normally, and the window remains fullscreened .
These fullscreen windows still include menus and other elements not
present on the desktop, so my guess is the Desktop can't find the
appropriate GUI element for the search bar, drops OUT of fullscreen,
then immediatley crashes, taking down all other Nautius windows that may
be open but unfocussed in the process.

Running Nautilus from a terminal, then striking a key while the focus in
on the Desktop yields these error messages:

nautilus

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2012-07-20 Thread Lucy O'Neill
In my case - uninstalling all proprietary NVidia drivers solved the problem
(Dell XPS M1530) but have to put up with rather crappy graphic; SMPlayer
doesn't work and launcher icons pretty big (it can be fixed though) - but at
least system shuts down no problem and it was the aim.
We just have to be patiens i suppose and wait for a final solution.

[Bug 594674] Re: Trash is not shown on --bind mounted filesystems

2012-07-20 Thread Luke
A file in one partition, wherever mounted, cannot be moved to any
location in another partition, as to place it on a different physical
device or a partition of one means copying the file to that location,
then deleting it from the original, not just attacking a new path to an
existing physical location. If trash is a directory in any location,
files can only be moved to and from it on the same device or partition
as a direct result of this limitation.

A fix for this would require code in a trash manager to copy to trash
anything from a different device, deleting it on that device, then copy
back to that device and delete from the trash to restore it. This is
how one trash can, many devices would have to work. Needless to say,
trashing any large file would require waiting for copying to complete,
as would restoring it. Much of that and many users, especially on slow
machines, may prefer separate trash cans for each device.

Consider this result of using such code as proof of what I have just
said: : Two empty devices, a file on one, trash on the other. If you
could move the file to the trash on the other device, then empty
trash, a file recovery utility would find TWO copies of the file, one on
each device. Since partitions are effectively physical devices as well,
that also applies to bind mounts from other partitions.

I don't use the trash at all, instead creating a secure trash
directory on each magnetic disk that is empted using nautilus-wipe,
which does not work from the trash can. Flash drives are worse: they
require normal deletion (can use trash) but have to be filled usinng dd
to overwrite old files-still won't get everything if a block picks that
moment to die and go read-only!
