[Bug 1035843] Re: Trash doesn't work on NFS mounted partitions

2012-09-22 Thread l0b0
The user does not have access to write to the root of the partition, but
it does have read access to the root (obviously) and write access to
$HOME/.local/share/Trash and
$HOME/.local/share/Trash/info/[filename].number.trashinfo, as
mentioned. But why should this matter? A normal user doesn't need access
to the root directory of the local root partition to use trash properly.

[Bug 482597] Re: Empathy dialpad tones don't work

2012-09-22 Thread Dawid Wróbel
David,
I am sorry for such a late reply, I must have missed your message. I just tried
to call the same number under 12.10 and still no reaction whatsoever. Do you
actually _hear_ the DTMF tone when pressing the button? Because I do not,
however I assumed this is by design.
My speech quality is quite good. My SIP provider does not have a mailbox option
so unfortunately I can't test it this way.
There must be something specific with this particular provider that DTMF does
not work in empathy. Twinkle, however, works just fine.

Because it may be that my provider accepts only the standard, audible
signalling.

/usr/bin/perl -T -w /usr/sbin/spamd --socketpath /home/mdeslaur/.cache
/spamd-socket-path-7AOLKW --max-children=1 --pidfile
/home/mdeslaur/.cache/spamd-pid-file-ALNLKW

I can connect to it and it successfully filters email:

spamc -U /home/mdeslaur/.cache/spamd-socket-path-7AOLKW -R test.mbox
31.9/5.0
Spam detection software, running on the system mdlinux, has
identified this incoming email as possible spam. The original message
has been attached to this so you can view it (if it isn't spam) or label
similar future email. If you have any questions, see
the administrator of that system for details.

But evolution isn't marking any email as spam.

[Bug 1054414] Re: Quantal Attempts To Mount Non-Existent Floppy Drive

I'm experiencing the same problem on a quantal installation on a
physical system without floppy drive (it has never had one). Since some
recent update, I think, because the launcher icon was there only after
me booting my machine this morning. (European time).

[Bug 952636] Re: No GUI-based group management feature beginning 12.04.

2012-09-22 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Sorry, but this is a GNOME feature and the Ubuntu Desktop Team is
currently not interested in trying to hack something else together.

* Home or small business users will generally be ok with just setting some
accounts as Standard and others as Administrator. This is far easier with
System Settings (gnome-control-center) in Ubuntu 11.10 and higher.
* Those that want more fine-grained control should look into tools that offer
that, such as useradd -G, /etc/sudoers.d/ or policykit.
* users-admin, the tool available in earlier versions of Ubuntu is still
available for install. Honestly, it's not really being maintained but it
probably still mostly works.

[Bug 1054615] [NEW] Gnome-power-statistics will not refresh unless a button is clicked in the window

2012-09-22 Thread Rafael P.
Public bug reported:

Graphs and data will not refresh automatically in the window. To display new
collected power data, an action must be taken
e.g. in the Laptop BatteryHistory tab, one must click the Show data points
checkbox in order to display all the data points taken since the previous
refresh (data points taken every 30 seconds)

This is a regression. It first appeared with Oneiric, if I remember
well.

To reproduce:
- Open gnome-power-statistics through gnome panel barbattery iconbattery
- Go to laptop battery from the left list
- Go to History tab: the graph will not refresh when new data points are taken
- Click on Show data points or Use smoothed line: the graph (and info in
the Details tab) is updated with the last data points

[Bug 873191] Re: Ubuntu starts with lowest brightness on HP G62[regression]

2012-09-22 Thread markba
My hardware:

Intel: $ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)

ATI: $ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Manhattan [Mobility
Radeon HD 5000 Series]

Strange thing is that the model with ATI reports 2 different cards, and
that in a laptop, how curious. The ATI-model differs slightly from the
one smola has in #14.

I have both installed with 10.04 and they work just fine. My hope is
that there is a solution before 10.04 gets obsolete (2013).

[Bug 25695] Re: evolution message text appears backwards when replying to html mail

2012-09-22 Thread Flavelle
Actually, I have just encountered this bug for the first time in Ubuntu
12.04.1. I have Evolution 3.2.3 installed from the repositories. Happens
exactly as described - if I reply to a message using HTML, then when I
type each character, the cursor moves to the left instead of moving to
the right.

Does not happen in any other application, does not happen if I reply to
a Plain Text message - only happens if I am replying to an HTML message.

I hope this helps, and I do hope that there is a fix identified.

The workaround is to type my reply in LibreOffice, then copy and paste
into the reply - kudgey to say the least.

one during configuring nautilus… Anyway Nautilus-Window was open at the moment,
but only in the background. (And the problem in the already reported bugs is
with two windows of nautilus at the same time)
+ The Getting information, please wait… didn't disappears, but I could click
Next. That was what I did. I selected the folders on my Computer which I wish
to sync, and clicked Finish. Now, no folder I wished to sync is synced with
Ubuntu One.

- Please choose a folder inside your /home/robin directory, and not
- overlapping with any existing cloud folder.

- ???
+ ## Now I know that's because of the opened Nautilus window. I retried to
configure Ubuntu One without any opend Nautilus window and I had succes!

[Bug 1027676] Re: gnome-control-center brightness bar has no effect on laptop

2012-09-22 Thread melchiaros
Chis,

I have just done some investigations. We are propably wrong here.

Backlight problems should be reported following this guide:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight#Report_Minimum_Requirements

There is a list of bugs that are related for this on Quantal:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=backlightorderby=-importancesearch=Searchfield.status%3Alist=NEWfield.status%3Alist=CONFIRMEDfield.status%3Alist=TRIAGEDfield.status%3Alist=INPROGRESSfield.status%3Alist=FIXCOMMITTEDfield.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITH_RESPONSEfield.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITHOUT_RESPONSEassignee_option=anyfield.assignee=field.bug_reporter=field.bug_commenter=field.subscriber=field.structural_subscriber=field

I have done so, which is elaborious work. My report for my laptop can be found
at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1054647

With respect to this I close this here as invalid, because it missed the cause
of the problem completely. Following the guide I have fould we must file
separate bugs anyway.

Hi,

I don't know if it can help somebody, but in my case, I was lacking the
gvfs-backends package. So nautilus wasn't able to connect using sftp
protocol.

Reinstallation of this package solved the problem.

bug #1033275 is for a different problem.

[Bug 1054708] [NEW] Unmaximized windows snap to bottom when dragged offscreen

2012-09-22 Thread Istvan Chung
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Drag an unmaximized window partially off the bottom of the screen.
2. Mouse over the Window List applet.

Expected behavior:
Nothing should happen.

Actual behavior:
The window snaps up to the bottom of the screen. Furthermore:

3. Drag the window such that it is entirely within the screen.
4. Mouse over the Window List applet again.

Expected behavior:
Nothing should happen.

Actual behavior:
The window snaps _down_ to the bottom of the screen.

[Bug 1053670] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()

2012-09-22 Thread Edward Donovan
Iain, thanks so much for making this public. Private master bugs are an
'orrible shackle, hopefully that won't happen, soon.

So, I added glib2.0 and libdbusmenu to the bug, and updated the
description. It looks like the problem is in one of those, and probably
not in nautilus, which didn't change the day the bug appeared in
quantal. So it might be most accurate to mark the nautilus component
'Invalid', but I'm afraid that could confuse people and perhaps lead
them to think this is not the bug they're looking for. So I left that
alone. Thanks.

[Bug 1054394] Re: Shotwell never finishes writing metadata

2012-09-22 Thread Adam Dingle
This sounds like this bug known upstream:

http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/5843

We're planning to investigate for 0.13.1.

** Description changed:

After upgrading from 0.12.9 to 0.13 shotwell starts rewriting metadata
on every launch, going through the progress with the ever-slowing pace
(i.e., each next % passes longer than the previous one). Upon reaching
99% it never completes the operation, I left it working through the
  night on my 5526 photos.

- I'm aware of the similarly looking #984553 that was fixed in 0.13 but I

started to see this behaviour only after upgrading so I thought it safer

[Bug 1054765] [NEW] Firefox totem plugin has no option to turn off audio visualisations

2012-09-22 Thread Sparhawk
Public bug reported:

1) Open Firefox.
2) Click on a link to play an audio file. (e.g.
http://www.i18nwithvb.com/understand.wav )
3) Watch a psychedelic, pixelated, resource-hungry visualisation.

The totem plugin should have an option to disable this visualisation.
This option exists in the standalone totem application, but not the
Firefox plugin.

This has been previously reported as bug #273490, but was incorrectly
closed as fixed. (The fix was to disable the visualisation if the
widget size was under 150 pixels, which is quite different.)

Totem 3.0.1-0ubuntu21.1
Firefox 15.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

** Affects: totem (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1054770] [NEW] Full disk shows 0bytes used (and free) in properties

2012-09-22 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

Usually in Nautilus if you right-click on a disk or filesystem and
select properties, a circular pie chart is shown indicating used space
in yellow and free space in blue, and next to it the used and free
spaces in bytes/kB/MB/GB are shown. Total capacity is also shown.

When the disk gets conpletely full, the properties wrongly show:
