Unsetting modules does not solve this bug. It has to be considered a big
usability issue.
Could you please try some applications like taskcoach or cryptkeeper by
terminal to see if your solution is working?

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-03-22 Thread Jochen Fahrner
Can someone please test if this problem also exists when using PCManFM?
I'm having similar problems on Debian Wheezy/Xfce when copying large files via
davfs to my webserver. Even if I do the copy with cp in terminal, Thunar is not
responding until file transfer is finished. PCManFM does not suffer from this
problem.

[Bug 969513] Re: Nautilus bookmarks are not updated after username change

2013-03-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1020770] Re: gdm install prompts about dm when debconf value set

2013-03-22 Thread Emmanuel Thomé
Hi,

Pardon me if I'm misunderstanding, but it very much seems to me that the
gdm/lightdm configuration scripts are unconditionally setting the
default value of the debconf choice to gdm, irrespective of the previous
value of the setting.

Is that normal behaviour ?

In the transcript below I would have found more logical to see a GET
just after the two METAGET's.

Best,

E.

ok, from IRC discussion, the same happens when doing a direct dbus call:

dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.Nautilus /org/gnome/Nautilus

the problem also is that a nautilus view is opened when it shouldn't

the issue has been fixed in raring:

nautilus (1:3.6.3-0ubuntu8) raring; urgency=low

  * debian/control.in:
- Build-Depends on dh-migrations
  * debian/nautilus.migrations, debian/nautilus-unity-launcher-icon.py:
- script to migration the nautilus' unity launcher entry
  * debian/rules:
- use dh_migrations
  * debian/nautilus-home.desktop, debian/nautilus-home.desktop.in:

[Bug 922968] Re: computer suspends again after resume

2013-03-22 Thread Brent Fox
@jsalisbury: You are correct in that the system is simply doing what it
is told, but it's still a bug in the user experience.

The question is what the user is intending to do. Is the user
intentionally telling the system to suspend twice? There's no use case
in which that's useful.

Then we have to consider the user experience. When the user opens the
lid, they are telling the system to wake up because they intend to use
it. They aren't expecting the system to put itself back to sleep, so
this violates the principle of least surprise.

[Bug 922968] Re: shouldn't queue a second suspend if the machine is already suspending

2013-03-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Could somebody upstream the GNOME bug against gnome-settings-daemon:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=gnome-settings-daemon ?

Unassigning the desktop team, we don't have currently anyone with spare
cycles to look at that, and it seems really a minor issue: it's not easy
to trigger the second suspend before the first one kicks in, and there
is no breakage, just an annoyance that you need to resume a second time

If that's a real issue for oems please ping me to discuss it

2013-03-22 Thread Gerald Wolczanski
Ditto for me, problems as described above

Worse yet, it's crashing evolution. When this retrieving POP Summary is
grinding away, I am totally locked out of Evolution.
I try to cancel the operation - no dice.
Also, I log into a terminal and try to kill evolution - no dice as well, except
that, after about 5 - 10 minutes the kill command
takes effect.

[Bug 1159036] [NEW] gedit 3.7 doesn't display application menu

2013-03-22 Thread Adam Dingle
Public bug reported:

Starting with version 3.7.3, gedit has an application menu with menu
items such as New Window, Preferences, About and Quit. Unfortunately
this menu does not display under Unity, which makes gedit nearly
unusable. You can see this if you install gedit 3.7 on Raring from the
GNOME 3 PPA (https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3), or
build it yourself on Raring (you'll need components from the GNOME 3 PPA
in order to do so).

Unity *does* display the application menu in other applications
including Nautilus and Epiphany. Perhaps it's failing to display the
menu in gedit because gedit has other top-level menus as well (unlike
those other applications). Or perhaps there's a deeper explanation.

Also see some discussion (but no fix) at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=696425 .

[Bug 880657] Re: stuck retrieving emails from IMAP

2013-03-22 Thread apinunt
I've had to stop retrieving email automatically, and manually request
the retrieval of each account one at a time to avoid locking up the
email retrieval, but evolution still crashes randomly and requires
restarting.
