[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-04-08 Thread Joseph A
Thinkpad T520 w NVS 4200M
Ubuntu 12.10

Fails to work as well.

Fixed it by patching thinkpad_acpi and recompiling (don't know if it's
necessary). Someone posted http://askubuntu.com/questions/125367
/enabling-mic-mute-button-and-light-on-lenovo-thinkpads/279135#279135
before I actually managed to get this to work.

The first answer gets the idea of it but there were some minor problems
when I tired to use it... ie nothing happened. There was a minor
problem with the bash script variables but works with some tweeking. I
tested while running with sudo but won't know until I restart.

[Bug 1166090] [NEW] Metacity paths don't appear in gconf-editor

2013-04-08 Thread Cefn
Public bug reported:

I've been trying to find out how to put the window buttons to the left.

All the guides I've seen refer to the use of a path in gconf-editor
apps/metacity but that path to properties settings is non-existent. Does
that mean that some kind of configuration hasn't happened, yet. Where
are the properties set, now.

I'm using this metacity configuration only in the context of using gtk-
window-decorator in Compiz, though, rather than using metacity as a
window manager, so it may be the bug/feature should be reported
elsewhere.

I'm running Lubuntu 13.04 Beta 2.

[Bug 899755] Re: gnome terminal does not save session

2013-04-08 Thread ixtos
Affects me and bothers me. Session saving didn't work for gnome-terminal
when using Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) and still doesn't work now with Linux
Mint 13 Cinnamon based on Ubuntu Precise (12.04).

In Lucid, my workaround was to use KDE's konsole instead. However,
temporary kde files are not deleted by default in gnome. They were
piling up to several GB in '/home/myusername/.kde/tmp-mycomputername' so
I had to write my own script to occasionally delete the older ones.
That's why I prefer not to bring KDE into my system again. The inability
to save a session in gnome, however, is very inconvenient.

gnome-session-properties now only launch the startup applications, but
no option to save the sessions.

I installed dconf-editor and went to org gnome gnome-sessions and
checked auto-save-session. This config is remembered over several
sessions. However, the session is not saved - or at least not restored
at the next startup.

[Bug 1162849] Re: change dependency on gdm

2013-04-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thanks, that does sound like a way to split the package. I'm going to go
ahead and re-open this bug so that if anyone wants to work on that idea,
they can.

** Also affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Summary changed:

- change dependency on gdm
+ Split GDM packages

** Description changed:

+ The problem is that when someone using Ubuntu with Unity installs gnome-
+ shell, they are prompted to choose a display manager but there isn't
+ enough information about which one to choose.
+
+ Original bug report
+ ---
  gnome-shell depends on gdm;
however, it is possible to use gnome-shell with another session manager (esp.
lightdm which is the default on ubuntu).

So this dependency seems too strong. It should either
  * be changed to a recommend
  * be a dependency on gdm | lightdm (possibly adding other session managers?)

The quantal debdiff you posted is against an older version as well, as
is the precise version. Also, if the proposed debdiffs were pushed out
as updates on those platforms, it would break upgrades to the newer

pushed out as updates on those platforms, it would break upgrades
to the newer Ubuntu versions, as the changes are incompatible.

Ok ill fix it, Thanks!

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-04-08 Thread Rodney Dawes
Looks like you are pulling the gnome-keyring from the release pocket,
and not from -proposed, as should be. So you now just applied my changes
to the release packages, rather than the updated versions that were
released on Quantal/Precise. See the Quantal backport patch I attached
for the appropriate changes to the latest version on Quantal.

[Bug 1166390] [NEW] Invisible Files in Nautilus

2013-04-08 Thread Michael Murphy
Public bug reported:

I am running a batch file that is encoding every video in each
subdirectory, yet the files do not appear in Nautilus after creation.
Nautilus reports that there are x amount of files in the directory, but
only displays the files that were not created from the terminal. The
files are, of course, not hidden. They can be seen from a terminal using
ls, and even browsed if you implicity use the search feature in
Nautilus, but will not display in directories by default.

[Bug 1162124] Re: package gconf2 3.2.5-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2013-04-08 Thread njdove
Same error here, same botched upgrade.

I was able to boot to a recovery kernel - I told it to continue the boot
process as normal, at which point I was able to get a prompt and run
apt-get dist-upgrade -f. The upgrade continued and my host is now
fully upgraded.

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-04-08 Thread Tomas
Workaround (until display configuration is changed):

xsetwacom --set Serial Wacom Tablet stylus ResetArea
xsetwacom --set Serial Wacom Tablet eraser ResetArea

Keen to hear about permanent workaround: how to access/reset the
values stored by the Wacom calibration tool.

Hi,

I am also meeting with this issue on Ubuntu Precise. This is very
difficult to deal with and it would be nice if it could be fixed.

Regards,

[Bug 1166584] [NEW] Changing view to icons/list/compact causes search results to reset, and the search to start over again.

2013-04-08 Thread Akiva
Public bug reported:

Definitely annoying and unneccessary

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
- About Ubuntu

12.10 32 bit
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.2
  Candidate: 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.2
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4.2 0

Packages

 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages

3) What you expected to happen
a) Open Nautilus
b) Search for file
c) Wait for results
d) Goto menu view Icons or List or Compact, choose one
e) Results are redisplayed appropriately in the selected view

4) What happened instead
a) Open Nautilus
b) Search for file
c) Wait for results
d) Goto menu view Icons or List or Compact, choose one
e) Nautilus restarts search
f) Wait for results again
e) Results are redisplayed appropriately in the selected view

If the results have already been searched for once, steps 4e and 4f
should not happen.
