would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

2013-05-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

There's an unusually large number of reports about Firefox not starting
at all for some users on raring. I'm not sure if this is the same issue,
but I've just hit the same deadlock when starting Firefox twice in 30
minutes on a fresh raring VM.

[Bug 881376] Re: Low disk space warning popping up repeatedly.

2013-05-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-settings-daemon -
3.6.4-0ubuntu10

---
gnome-settings-daemon (3.6.4-0ubuntu10) saucy; urgency=low

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * Drop 51_lock_screen_on_suspend.patch: Superseded by handling this key in
gnome-screensaver. With that, g-screensaver mirrors what's being done in
g-shell, and avoids patching settings-daemon.

  [ Sebastien Bacher ]
  * debian/patches/git_housekeeping_ignore_list.patch:
- correctly handle ignore list for disk space notifications (lp: #881376)
  * debian/patches/git_glib_get_xdg_dirs.patch:
- use glib to get xdg dirs (rather than reading the environment)
  * debian/patches/git_sound_not_polling.patch:
- don't poll on non existant directories

to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1075421] Re: Realtek RTL8188CE wireless does not work in Ubuntu 12.04LTS

2013-05-13 Thread krot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 902557 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902557

I finally fixed this problem by compiling and installing the latest
drivers from Linux Wireless in Ubuntu 12.04, in my case the compat-
wireless-3.5.1-1-snpc.tar.bz2 package:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download/stable/

One needs the header files for his kernel and the build-essentials
package. I recommend also to run the script driver-select with the
option rtlwifi before compiling because one doesn't need the other
drivers and it reduces building time:

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential

tar jvxf compat-wireless-3.5.1-1-snpc.tar.bz2
cd compat-wireless-3.5.1-1-snpc
./scripts/driver-select rtlwifi
make
sudo make install

But the downside is you have to rebuild the driver after every kernel
update.

I'm running the driver for two days now with excessive closing and
opening the lid and didn't get any disconnects.

[Bug 1177580] Re: empathy isn't activating indicator when a message is received

2013-05-13 Thread Adar Dembo
After restarting my Ubuntu VM, notifications appear to be working
properly. Well, at least I get a notification bubble, and a blue message
envelope, though I'm not seeing the change in the dock's tiny triangle
(item #2 from the list in the bug description).

I noticed that I had a 'telepathy-indicator' process running. When I
killed it and asked someone to IM me, I got the behavior I described in
the bug description. Then when I started it up again, notifications were
working properly.

So perhaps telepathy-indicator was crashing?

[Bug 1179659] [NEW] Gnome Control Center Crashes when attempring to open Details

2013-05-13 Thread Jonas De Moor
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 13.10, when I search for Details in the dash, I see the
mouse cursor (meaning it's loading something). But then gnome-control-
panel crashes and I get Ubuntu 13.10 has encountered an internal

This also happens when I go to System Settings from the launcher and
then to Details.

NOTE: I'm running 13.10 in a virtual machine on Ubuntu 12.04.

Bug Details

(mentioned above).

[Bug 1179721] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not play PLS files in 13.04

2013-05-13 Thread Laurence Nagel
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04 (Quantal to Raring) using Software
Updater. Before, I could get streaming with my radio station (KCSM San
Mateo, CA) working with Rhythmbox by using the Radio feature. That
stopped working with 13.04. However, trial and error revealed that
making Banshee the default for PLS files solved the problem. As I
recall, Banshee was the default long ago, and then Rhythmbox became the
default and Banshee stopped working on PLS files. Now, Rhythmbox has
stopped working and Banshee is back.

actionparsnip suggested that I report this as a bug.

Actually it is exactly what I get in Ubuntu 13.04, too. Large images
crash eog.

One recent crash looked like this in terminal (first line is always
there):

2013-05-13 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Evan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted pygobject into raring-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pygobject/3.8.0-2ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

[Bug 1179735] [NEW] EOG crash - Aborted (core dumped)

2013-05-13 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

Many times I try to watch large jpg images, my eog crashes. I started it
in terminal and it seems the exit message is Aborted (core dumped).

The images are 5-6-7 MB and I am forced to see them in Shotwell because
eog is impossible to use. I have no idea what the first line means, but
it is always there when I start eog.

Whoever is attending the UDS, please remind the team of this hugely

should pay attention to everything that has been said here.

It's already fixed in udev/kernel, because udev/kernel can handle
keycodes over 255. However, X11 can't (MICMUTE is out of range), we have
to remap it to something that X11 can use. We've used F21-23 before, so
I assumed that was the best place to put it. I'm open to suggestions.

Currently symbols/inet(evdev) is used for all keyboards, so all of them would
use F20 for micmute. I am not very happy about that...

What keyboards have F20? We're already using F21-23 for the touchpad
on/off/toggle buttons, so there is a precedent for this.

Sun keyboards in the 80's had 35 F-keys - since around 1990 many of those were
relabeled - the left side keys to the SunStop, SunProps, etc and the right side
to the numeric keypad. Those were only found on the old Sun 4 and older
systems, not any UltraSPARC, x86 or AMD64 systems. I think other Unix
workstations from the era had similarly large amounts of F keys for the
CAD/CAM applications of the time, but those fell out of use over the years.

[Bug 1179751] [NEW] Nautilus image folders cannot be used until thumbnailing is complete

2013-05-13 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

I have lots of folders with images and of course, I use the file list
with thumbnails. It would be great, but I cannot do any file operation
because the file thumbnails have a different size and modify each line's
height, so my files go down. See the attached movie for details.

Each file should have a pre-determined max-height max-width
rectangle/square and the preview should always fit to that rectangle.
Then, no matther the images are landscape or portrait, they will fit and
this problem dissapears.
