This bug is not caused by gnome-panel nor by compiz! 1. Installed rairing and gnome-session-fallback. Gnome-panel is ok. compiz version is some as currently on my saucy install. 2. Opened sources.list and changed raring to saucy. Run apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. There was many packages kept back. Tried to restart, install was broken. :( 3. Started to install some of kept back packages - xserver-xorg-core. Installed many other packages, some removed. Than i was able to do another apt-get upgrade. After that there was still 143 kept back packages, gnome-panel one of them. Confirming this bug in 13.04 – I just discovered it five minutes ago. There is a gvfsd-http process that has lots of stale outgoing TCP connections in CLOSE-WAIT-state. All connections have some data in the receive queue and nothing in send. I did use Rhythmbox a few days ago. Why? I don't whant use different theme. I like Ambiance. There is problem, and i want it to be fixed. Problem maybe is with gtk (regression) or gnome-panel must be updated to work correct with newer gtk version. If it is gtk problem, i hope gtk devs will fix it. Im agree with Alberts, There are only a few thinks that make me use Ubuntu until now... 1.- Compiz: Tools Like Zoom Plugins are great and usefull in daily work. 2.- Gnome fallBack Session with Ambience Theme. Ambiance theme in gnome-fallback-session looks great and even works better than unity itself and highly smooth than Gnome 3 Shell. This is really bad. Now I run into this when transferring photos from my SGS2 via FTP. Just my comment: the bad thing abot having ALT+LEFT instead of BACKSPACE, is that for pressing ALT+LEFT you need to use two hands. Instead with BACKSPACE I pressed it with only left hand, making right hand free to use mouse. [Bug 1200827] [NEW] Enable GOA backend
Public bug reported: The GNOME Online Accounts backend is needed for full ownCloud support with GNOME Online Accounts. This feature was not previously enabled in Ubuntu because we didn't have GOA 3.8 until last month. I verified that only gvfs-backends get the new libgoa-1.0-0 dependency. But seeded-in-ubuntu reports that gvfs-backends is not installed by default in ubuntu-touch. (See bug 1193018 for concerns about ubuntu- touch having a dependency on libgoa.) I'm attaching a patch that pulls the goa-enablement changes from Debian since I'll need sponsorship for this update. Confirming that this issue also affects a fresh install of Raring 13.04 as well as on the recent updates. Unity does not remember LCD brightness or (in my case) keyboard backlight brightness. For me this has been an issue since 11.04. My system is a 13 MacBook 5,2 (first unibody with removable battery). There are ways to set the brightness of both at startup via scripts, but Unity does not remember on its own. In your file: /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla Make sure you have two settings in there [Enable hibernate by default in upower] Identity=unix-user:* Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate ResultActive=yes [Enable hibernate by default in logind] Identity=unix-user:* Action=org.freedesktop.login1.hibernate ResultActive=yes Here is why. In this file: /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla it sets the two options to no The file you created should be executed after the one in /var/lib so it should take priority over it (Tested it and it does). You can read the information for that here under the section Evaluation Order. When your upower option is set to yes you can select hibernate from the power settings in Ubuntu.
