[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-09-09 Thread Franz Hsieh
We have the same problem on the platfrom runs with Ubuntu 12.04.2 with
quantal backported.

I reviewed the raring patch from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/2:1.13.2-0ubuntu3 and tried to
backport it to 12.04.2.
It looks work fine on our platfrom.

[Bug 1222538] Re: Unable to encrypt or sign files with current glib

2013-09-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

I still get the feeling that you don't see the seriousness of this bug.
Any drive-by browser-exploit can now escalate to root privileges because
of this. Most Ubuntu users are running it with their admin account (that
has sudo privileges). Running the wrong script or visiting the wrong
website will be enough.

[Bug 1222776] [NEW] gnome-disk-utlity and launcher/nautilus lost all raid awareness

2013-09-09 Thread Rachel Greenham
Public bug reported:

Expected: Raid arrays have appropriate icons in launcher/disk utility etc. Used
to be there in Precise
Actual: Icons are missing. Raid array has generic drive icon.

Compare the first screenshot, taken before upgrading from Precise to
Quantal, and the second, taken afterwards.

There is a RAID1 array, created using the disk utility, which shows up
with an appropriate icon on the launcher and matching emblem in
nautilus, as well as showing up properly in gnome-disk-utility itself.

In the second screenshot, the raid array now has a generic drive icon in
the launcher, just a folder icon in nautilus, and gnome-disk-utility
itself seems to have no understanding at all that it has a raid device
on its hands, nor any options any more to create new ones.

It kind of looks like a deliberate decision was made to have no desktop
support for raid any more, but I haven't found any discussion of this,
so at worst, some kind of explanation?

I don't even really care if gnome-disk-utility can be used to *manage*
raid arrays; what launched me on this quest was simply wanting to have
the raid *icon* in the launcher for the mounted filesystem. It used to
be there in precise; on upgrade, it vanishes.

Actually encountered on a proper machine which I upgraded from precise
to raring with barely a pause in quantal on the way through. Repeated in
simpler form in vmware to check whether the loss happened from
precise-quantal or quantal-raring. Seems to be the former, hence
reporting it here.

(Simply restoring the gdu_ icons for raid to a raring system doesn't
make it, or nautilus, use them. I confess I don't really know how this
works. Setting the mount point directory's icon in nautilus doesn't
affect the launcher icon, which is the one I actually want fixed.)

Confirmed; launcher icon has returned; well, it's a new icon, but it's
meaningful, so that's my main issue sorted. :-)

I note still no raid understanding in gnome-disk-utility - array just
shows up as a Block Device. Not terribly important to me but I guess
that's just been a decision to take that stuff out of gdu.

[Bug 1219120] Re: gedit has no application icon

2013-09-09 Thread Alistair Buxton
I have tracked down the cause if this problem. On Win+Mac gtk sets the
application icon directly, but on Linux it was handled by smclient which
would get the icon from the .desktop. smclient support was removed, but
the icon setting call was not replaced when this was done.

[Bug 1170832] Re: Facebook Requires Authorization when already authorized

2013-09-09 Thread Angelos Sfakianakis
The same problem occurs to me on Ubuntu 13.04! I have tried
removing-reinstalling empathy, Facebook Accounts Plugin, UOA; I have also
deleted any temporary files using BleachBit. Nothing seems to fix the problem...
Furthermore, I noticed that the Unity Menu Tab responsible of displaying
Facebook News works fine. The problem is localized to Empathy Messenger when
trying to connect to a Facebook account which happens to have 2-Step
Verification turned on. Is there any possibility that the Authentication Tokens
(when you start Seahorse, you can see two) are mixed up after a while? Each
time they are updated, their number is changed (i.e. Ubuntu Web account: id
#-#); I imagine that Empathy might be looking for older tokens than the
current, because this problem occurs usually after 15 days (the normal time
between account re-authorisations).
It's high time someone fixed this bug! I'm bored stumbling upon this particular
problem since I installed this last version of Ubuntu; and it's is a pity,
because it's far the best Linux Distribution out there!!! :D
Thanks in advance...

[Bug 1219148] Re: Fix gdm - login transition

2013-09-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-settings-daemon - 3.8.5-0ubuntu1

---
gnome-settings-daemon (3.8.5-0ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  [ Tim Lunn ]
  * Refreshed patches
  * debian/patches:
- fix_media_keys_on_unity.patch:
  Use legacy media keys keygrabber when running Unity
- git_revert_remove_automount_helper.patch: bring back the automount
  helper, revert upstream commit and port to dbus session tracking.
- fix_screenshots_on_unity.patch: bring back support for screenshots
  via gnome-screenshot when using unity.
- ubuntu-lid-close-suspend.patch:
   Reimplement support for setting lid close suspend actions
- ubuntu-fix-desktop-file.patch: Autostart in Unity too
- fix_input_switching_on_unity.patch: Bring back support for input
  switching under Unity
- 63_gnome_disable_background_plugin.patch: Disable loading
  of background plugin for GNOME session (LP: #1219148)

  * Dropped obsolete patches:
- power-check-null-devices.patch, Dropped: Applied in new version
- 51_lock_screen_on_suspend.patch, Superseded by handling this key
  in gnome-screensaver. With that, g-screensaver mirrors what's
  done in g-shell, and avoids patching settings-daemon.
  * gnome-settings-daemon.gsettings-override:
- Update switch input source keys for 3.8

  [ Jeremy Bicha ]
  * New upstream release (LP: #1219486)
- Two-finger scrolling enabled by default (LP: #1217166)
- But use edge scrolling if two-finger scrolling isn't
  available (LP: #1221367)
- Fix Super+Space switch-input-source shortcut in Unity (LP: #1201679)
  * debian/control.in:
- Bump minimum glib, gsettings-desktop-schemas, gnome-desktop3, gtk,
  libpulse, and libwacom
- Build-depend on librsvg2-dev
- This update needs changes to gnome-control-center so break older
  versions
  * Refreshed patches
  * revert_background_dropping.patch:
- Don't drop the background plugin yet, GNOME Fallback Unity
  still need it (when Nautilus isn't handling the desktop)
  * Dropped obsolete patches:
- bugzilla_segfault_dpms.patch: Applied in new version
- 47_delay_pa_connect_to_idle.patch: Applied in new version
- power-no-fallback-notifications.patch: Applied in new version
- 60_unity_hide_status_icon.patch
- 61_unity_use_application_indicator.patch

- and patches backported from 3.8
  * Disabled patch that need to be rewritten or dropped:
- 48_register_client_before_idle_callbacks.patch
  * debian/patches/touchscreen_rotation.patch:
- Updated with latest version from bugzilla
  * debian/patches/git_revert_hardcoded_input_methods.patch:
- Add patch from git (and also applied in Fedora 19) to not hardcode
  input methods based on the current locale

  [ Rico Tzschichholz ]
  * debian/patches:
- 16_use_synchronous_notifications.patch: Refreshed

[Bug 1223031] [NEW] Text issue in Time+Date settings

2013-09-09 Thread Quinn Balazs
Public bug reported:

This might be a bit particular, but I'm sure not too many people would
have looked to ensure its correctness. In saucy, looking at the
time+date section of control center, if you select Birmingham, Alabama
as the location it is called Birmingham i Alabama where all other
locations have a - separating city/region from state. I had not
noticed this as an issue in any previous versions. Attached is a
screenshot of the inconsistency.

[Bug 1217022] [NEW] Gscan Mysteriously Flips PDFs vertically

2013-09-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I started with a PDF downloaded from
www.csc.ncsu.edu/faculty/anton/pubs/icse98.pdf‎ and attempted to put it
through OCR.

Immediately on loading through FileOpen the images from the PDF were
rendered with a vertical flip (as if this operation had been performed
on each page in Gimp).

Consequently it was unable to process the text at all.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 1223070] [NEW] Lid close doesn't lock screen if lid-close-action not set to suspend

2013-09-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Copying from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/707769

org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power lid-close-ac-action 'nothing'
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power lid-close-battery-action 'nothing'
org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-enabled true

With these settings if I close the lid the screen does not lock. This is a
regression from gnome-settings-daemon 3.6.4 and it appears unintentional if I'm
reading the commit messages correctly:

[Bug 221409] Re: Ubuntu Browse Multiple Files dialog does not recognize capital / uppercase JPG as image

2013-09-09 Thread kernoelpanic
Hi,

same problem here. Firefox or chromium wont display *.jpg files for
uploading because they search for *.JPG. Moreover there is no switch
for All file types so that the only solution is to rename the files:

$ find ./ -name *.JPG -exec rename -v .JPG .jpg {} \;

plz add a swicht to the gtk menu to display all filetypes! This is a
good fall back in any case.

This is provided with gnome-disk-utility 3.8. We need to either
1. update gnome-disk-utility (bug 1092719)
2. remove the option from Nautilus (I believe it's a new feature compared to
raring anyway)
3. or figure out a way to backport the feature

2013-09-09 Thread giannisfs

ανθρωπους;
προσπερασουν σαν να ειμαι σκουπιδι;

αμφισβητει;

[Bug 1222776] Re: gnome-disk-utlity and launcher/nautilus lost all raid awareness

2013-09-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
According to the changelog, gnome-disk-utility 3.8 brings back RAID
support. The bug requesting that update is bug 1092719.

So I'm marking the icon part of this bug fixed and reopening the gnome-

[Bug 1223070] Re: Lid close doesn't lock screen if lid-close-action not set to suspend

2013-09-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Copying from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/707769

  org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power lid-close-ac-action 'nothing'
  org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power lid-close-battery-action 'nothing'
  org.gnome.desktop.screensaver lock-enabled true

  With these settings if I close the lid the screen does not lock. This is a
  regression from gnome-settings-daemon 3.6.4 and it appears unintentional if
I'm
  reading the commit messages correctly:

[Bug 1221367] Re: scroll-method set to two-finger-scrolling by default, even if the hardware does not support it

2013-09-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-settings-daemon - 3.8.5-0ubuntu1

---
gnome-settings-daemon (3.8.5-0ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  [ Tim Lunn ]
  * Refreshed patches
  * debian/patches:
- fix_media_keys_on_unity.patch:
  Use legacy media keys keygrabber when running Unity
- git_revert_remove_automount_helper.patch: bring back the automount
  helper, revert upstream commit and port to dbus session tracking.
- fix_screenshots_on_unity.patch: bring back support for screenshots
  via gnome-screenshot when using unity.
- ubuntu-lid-close-suspend.patch:
   Reimplement support for setting lid close suspend actions
- ubuntu-fix-desktop-file.patch: Autostart in Unity too
- fix_input_switching_on_unity.patch: Bring back support for input
  switching under Unity
- 63_gnome_disable_background_plugin.patch: Disable loading
  of background plugin for GNOME session (LP: #1219148)

  * Dropped obsolete patches:
- power-check-null-devices.patch, Dropped: Applied in new version
- 51_lock_screen_on_suspend.patch, Superseded by handling this key
  in gnome-screensaver. With that, g-screensaver mirrors what's
  done in g-shell, and avoids patching settings-daemon.
  * gnome-settings-daemon.gsettings-override:
- Update switch input source keys for 3.8

  [ Jeremy Bicha ]
  * New upstream release (LP: #1219486)
- Two-finger scrolling enabled by default (LP: #1217166)
- But use edge scrolling if two-finger scrolling isn't
  available (LP: #1221367)
- Fix Super+Space switch-input-source shortcut in Unity (LP: #1201679)
  * debian/control.in:
- Bump minimum glib, gsettings-desktop-schemas, gnome-desktop3, gtk,
  libpulse, and libwacom
- Build-depend on librsvg2-dev
- This update needs changes to gnome-control-center so break older
  versions
  * Refreshed patches
  * revert_background_dropping.patch:
- Don't drop the background plugin yet, GNOME Fallback Unity
  still need it (when Nautilus isn't handling the desktop)
  * Dropped obsolete patches:
- bugzilla_segfault_dpms.patch: Applied in new version
- 47_delay_pa_connect_to_idle.patch: Applied in new version
- power-no-fallback-notifications.patch: Applied in new version
- 60_unity_hide_status_icon.patch
- 61_unity_use_application_indicator.patch
- 63_unity_start_mounter.patch
- logind_support.patch
- and patches backported from 3.8
  * Disabled patch that need to be rewritten or dropped:
- 48_register_client_before_idle_callbacks.patch
  * debian/patches/touchscreen_rotation.patch:
- Updated with latest version from bugzilla
  * debian/patches/git_revert_hardcoded_input_methods.patch:
- Add patch from git (and also applied in Fedora 19) to not hardcode
  input methods based on the current locale

  [ Rico Tzschichholz ]
  * debian/patches:
- 16_use_synchronous_notifications.patch: Refreshed
