[Bug 1223181] Re: After upgrading to saucy, eclipse crashes in gtk_tree_view_get_background_area+0x8a while debugging

2013-09-10 Thread JR
I forgot to mention that I'm using qtcurve as I had other crashes when
using the gtk oxygen theme.

it seems this issue can be worked around by adding
gtk-enable-animations=0

to $HOME/.grkrc-2.0

[Bug 1219337] Re: Users can change the clock without authenticating, allowing them to locally exploit sudo.

2013-09-10 Thread Eero
One more thing I noticed while checking what's going on with sudo. To my
understanding newer versions of sudo treat the epoch as a special case
and ignore it as an invalid date. So why does Ubuntu's /etc/init.d/sudo
set sudoers timestamps to 19850101 during the boot? Shouldn't they
be set to epoch to invalidate them?

[Bug 1170832] [NEW] Facebook Requires Authorization when already authorized

2013-09-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am running fully updated 13.04 64-bit. I simply cannot get empathy/UOA
to connect to facebook. When I add the account in UOA everything seems
to go well, facebook login page loads, it logs in successfully, facebook
recognizes the session as safari on linux; but upon completing the
setup in UOA empathy refuses to connect to it and keeps telling me it
requires authorization.

I've Tried the following: Removing the account from UOA
Ending all active sessions on facebook and deleting the ubuntu app
rebooting
adding account in UOA, and allowing the ubuntu app to manage my messages etc...

Didn't help at all. pidgin connects fine on the same computer.

Sometimes it does let me add it and it works for a while, but eventually
this issue happens again and leaves me totally unable to successfully
add a facebook account for quite some time, until it randomly decides it
wants to work again. Empathy/UOA in 13.04 has been unreliable to the
point of ridiculousness, the application is basically unusable and can't
handle the one basic task of an instant messaging program, which is
connecting to my accounts reliably.

I would have liked to do the webkitgtk 2/epiphany-browser 3.8 update
(LP: #1186558) but it's blocked by a nasty bug that breaks Software
Center (LP: #1163886). At this point, it does not look like that bug
will be fixed in a reasonable time to be ready for Saucy.

[Bug 1217216] Re: g-s-d plugins power: virtually no settings are used or work

2013-09-10 Thread Doug McMahon
With latest g-s-d ( 3.8.5-0ubuntu2

Interactive on power button now works correctly

As far as laptop lid close. As far as I can see there are now only 2
'real' options, Do nothing or suspend. All options in gsettings other
than do nothing will suspend

As far as Do nothing - in the past that would blank the screen on lid
close, in 13.10 that doesn't happen, too bad, (may be intentional, not
possible or hardware specific.

An additional new 'too bad' concerning power is seen here. I've never had any
laptop, any Os where shutdown wouldn't complete when lid was closed after
initiating a shutdown but before completed

[Bug 1223371] [NEW] qtdeclarative5-qtlocation-plugin does not use trust-store on session bus

2013-09-10 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Right now, qtdeclarative5-qtlocation-plugin connects to the system bus
instead of the trust-store on the session bus. This is entirely
understandable, since the trust store is not implemented yet. :)

In order to provide contextual runtime prompting and per app access to
the location service such that the user is aware that an app is using
the location API, a trust-store will be implemented that the location
service will integrate with and then the qtdeclarative5-qtlocation-
plugin should connect on the session bus rather than the system bus.

Right now to bug #1223211, I am updating the location policy group to have (but
this will need to be fixed):

[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-09-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@James:

right, we still need to change other components, I've tagged the
verification-done because the only piece up for verification at the
moment is libx11 and you verified that one, getting it in updates would
put us one step closer from fixing the issue right?

Additionally, this requires a revert of xkeyboard-config that we have in
-proposed. I'm not sure how to work that because this is my first
verification-failed bug, but I assume I can just revert it.

Do you need revert or extra changes? in any case the update is in
precise-updates so you can't verification-failed it anymore (that's just
used to get things dropped from proposed/not copied to updates), you
need another upload on top of the current version

[Bug 1159931] Re: Evince not rendering Postscript files

2013-09-10 Thread astroman
Hi,

Just to say that I have the same bug.
It is affecting me in the latest Ubuntu release as it is in the latest Lubuntu.

The setting of the variable is not a proper solution. Isn't there another way
to fix this and behave more automatically?
I made a simple script to call evince/okular with the setting of the variable,
but whenever I want to directly view a ps file from an email attachment or any
other program that call okular/evince It's a mess.

Ps. I wonder why I only notice this bug today. I normally use this a lot
and I am almost certain that this was working until very recently...

With gnome-settings-daemon 3.8 which was released to Ubuntu 13.10

doesn't work. You'll need to log out and log back in after applying

[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-09-10 Thread James M. Leddy
Sebastien,

Thanks for flipping the tag. As noted in comment #108 , we still need
backports of udev, gnome-settings-daemon, and xkeyboard-config to close
this bug out. Additionally, this requires a revert of xkeyboard-config
that we have in -proposed. I'm not sure how to work that because this is
my first verification-failed bug, but I assume I can just revert it.

https://code.launchpad.net/~jm-leddy/ubuntu/precise/xkeyboard-
config/micmute

We have two vendors in addition to Lenovo that have added micmute keys
since this bug has been opened, and we're shipping 12.04 as the standard
for all oem builds. So this bug has a higher priority now.

[Bug 1223371] Re: qtdeclarative5-qtlocation-plugin does not use trust-store on session bus

2013-09-10 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Ok, after discussions with Thomas Voss I removed the duplicate bug
status and marked this bug as Invalid. We want the location service to
be one service on the system bus. It is the location service's job to
call out to a service on the session bus to prompt the user (this is
part of the trust-store design). As such, there is no need for
qtdeclarative5-qtlocation-plugin or apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu to be
updated.

Shameful and very revealing!

[Bug 1223654] Crash report cannot be processed

2013-09-10 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libexpat1: package version 2.1.0-4
dbgsym version 2.1.0-2

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!
