[Bug 1225514] Re: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly
Things are definitely still pretty weird. In a fresh installed saucy image, the system keyboard is set to ca in /etc/default/keyboard. If I boot into the user: - there is no input source icon displayed in the indicators, as is expected, - xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'ca' as expected, - xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', as expected, - and gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, as expected. If I simply add French (Canada) to the list of input sources using the Text Entry applet and reboot, I now: - have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, even though there is only one input source configured - xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() returns 'ca' and 'us' which is incorrect...not sure where it's getting 'us' from - xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '2', even though it shouldn't - gnome-screensaver displays the language selector and allows selecting between en and fr. I'm not sure where it's getting en (us) from. If I then click on the language indicator, and click on French (Canada) (the only one listed): - there is no input source icon displayed in the indicators, as is expected, - xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'ca' as expected, - xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', as expected, - and gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225514 Title: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1225514/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1225514] Re: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly
With both English (US) and French (Canada) added to the list of input sources, after a reboot I get: - have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, as expected - xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() returns 'ca' and 'us' as expected - xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '2', as expected - gnome-screensaver displays the language selector and allows selecting between en and fr. As soon as I click on the language indicator, it reconfigures xkb and removes one of the languages. For example, clicking on English (US), I now get: - have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, as expected - xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'us', even though it should return 'us' and 'ca' - xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', even though it should return 2 - gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, preventing the user from knowing which layout is selected and switching to the other one.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to ctrl+shift
I confirm the bug with the current Saucy. Using gnome-tweak-tool makes the keyboard switched using XKB, which isn't quite good. Currently Ubuntu relies on iBus, if i'm not mistaken? Therefore the gnome-tweak-tool workaround is not OK, as the indicator doesn't notice any layout changes then. Which is more, after the yesterday's update I cannot change the layout even with Super+Space any more! No reasonable working hotkey left! So far I'm sticking to Shift+Alt and ignore the indicator. By the way, why using the indicator which doesn't work? 1) Layout switching in the command-line interface is done ONLY with XKB! We should somehow keep the layout changing hotkeys in XKB similar to the ones used in GUI, shouldn't we? 2) For now, XKB works fine, while the indicator fails. Maybe the indicator should rely on XKB, or at least track the layout change in XKB? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to ctrl+shift To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10
Dima, your patch works but partially. It works fine if I switch layout with XKB hotkey. However, it doesn't work if I switch using the indicator (which utilises iBus, I presume?). Steps to reproduce: 1) Launch LO:Writer. 2) Enter some text 3) Try to cut it with Ctrl+X and paste with Ctrl+V (or undo with Ctrl+Z). 4) Change the layout using Alt+Shift and repeat no.3. Works fine. 5) Change the layout using the indicator and mouse and repeat no.3 again.
