[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-10-07 Thread Scott Moore
I enabled raring-proposed, updated, and tested it tonight with a large
directory and I'm happy to say it works. The bug appears to have existed
on the client side as no changes were made to the host system.

Thanks!

[Bug 1165742] Re: Synctex plugin was not built in raring

2013-10-07 Thread Rafael Kitover
There is another problem:

python-dbus-dev requires libdbus-1-dev but does NOT depend on it, or at
least pkg-config thinks so, so configure thinks it's not there.

pkg-config --cflags dbus-python
# Package dbus-1 was not found...

sudo apt-get install libdbus-1-dev

pkg-config --cflags dbus-python
# -I/usr/include/..

Once I do this, the synctex plugin builds.

[Bug 1236479] [NEW] On dual monitor, unmaximizing Evolution windows makes them huge

2013-10-07 Thread Edwin Lee
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
Standard Unity environment
Evolution 3.2.3
Dual monitor set up

I usually run Evolution maximized on one of my windows. Occasionally I
want to un-maximize the window for misc reasons. When I unmaximize the
window, it will sometimes get bigger, appearing to be the entire size of
both monitors. I am trying to figure out when exactly this happens
because it isn't consistently happening. It may be on the first un-
maximize attempt of a session, as it didn't happen right now when I
tried it.

Is there possibly an initialization for Evolution that attempts to set
preferred window size to the entire desktop rather than a single
monitor?

If I can diagnose it further I'll add comments.

[Bug 1225514] Re: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly

2013-10-07 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Things are definitely still pretty weird.

In a fresh installed saucy image, the system keyboard is set to ca in
/etc/default/keyboard.
If I boot into the user:

- there is no input source icon displayed in the indicators, as is expected,
- xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'ca' as expected,
- xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', as expected,
- and gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, as expected.

If I simply add French (Canada) to the list of input sources using the
Text Entry applet and reboot, I now:

- have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, even though there is
only one input source configured
- xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() returns 'ca' and 'us' which is
incorrect...not sure where it's getting 'us' from
- xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '2', even though it shouldn't
- gnome-screensaver displays the language selector and allows selecting between
en and fr.

I'm not sure where it's getting en (us) from.

If I then click on the language indicator, and click on French
(Canada) (the only one listed):

- there is no input source icon displayed in the indicators, as is expected,
- xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'ca' as expected,
- xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', as expected,
- and gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, as expected.

[Bug 1225514] Re: adding keyboard layouts no longer seems to update xkb correctly

2013-10-07 Thread Marc Deslauriers
With both English (US) and French (Canada) added to the list of
input sources, after a reboot I get:

- have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, as expected
- xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() returns 'ca' and 'us' as expected
- xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '2', as expected
- gnome-screensaver displays the language selector and allows selecting between
en and fr.

As soon as I click on the language indicator, it reconfigures xkb and
removes one of the languages. For example, clicking on English (US), I
now get:

- have an input source icon displayed in the indicators, as expected
- xkl_config_rec_get_from_server() only returns 'us', even though it should
return 'us' and 'ca'
- xkl_engine_get_num_groups() returns '1', even though it should return 2
- gnome-screensaver doesn't display the language selector, preventing the user
from knowing which layout is selected and switching to the other one.

For users that depend on these services, simply hiding the ability to
zoom in or out doesn't seem like a very good solution. I understand that
this is an upstream package, but choosing to fix this is leaving a lot
of ubuntu users in the mud.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to ctrl+shift

2013-10-07 Thread Jacob Popov
I confirm the bug with the current Saucy.
Using gnome-tweak-tool makes the keyboard switched using XKB, which isn't quite
good. Currently Ubuntu relies on iBus, if i'm not mistaken? Therefore the
gnome-tweak-tool workaround is not OK, as the indicator doesn't notice any
layout changes then.

Which is more, after the yesterday's update I cannot change the layout
even with Super+Space any more! No reasonable working hotkey left! So
far I'm sticking to Shift+Alt and ignore the indicator.

By the way, why using the indicator which doesn't work?
1) Layout switching in the command-line interface is done ONLY with XKB! We
should somehow keep the layout changing hotkeys in XKB similar to the ones used
in GUI, shouldn't we?
2) For now, XKB works fine, while the indicator fails. Maybe the indicator
should rely on XKB, or at least track the layout change in XKB?

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10

2013-10-07 Thread Jacob Popov
Dima, your patch works but partially.

It works fine if I switch layout with XKB hotkey.
However, it doesn't work if I switch using the indicator (which utilises iBus,
I presume?).

Steps to reproduce:
1) Launch LO:Writer.
2) Enter some text
3) Try to cut it with Ctrl+X and paste with Ctrl+V (or undo with Ctrl+Z).
4) Change the layout using Alt+Shift and repeat no.3. Works fine.
5) Change the layout using the indicator and mouse and repeat no.3 again. No
luck. :-(

peerus, that's quite different bug. Although it's annoying as well, it's
reason lurks somewhere else. The patches from that thread seem to do
nothing with this bug.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-10-07 Thread Sebastian Ilea
Ross Lagerwall's fix works for me too (Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit - using
raring-proposed repository to update gvfs, gvfs-fuse, gvfs-common, gvfs-
daemons, gvfs-bin, gvfs-libs and gvfs-backends to version
1.16.1-0ubuntu1.1).

I copied over LAN (from a Windows PC to a Ubuntu PC) around 40GB of
pictures (more than 24.000 files) with no problems.

Thanks for the patch.
