[Bug 1617158] [NEW] Software Center always shows an OS update is available
Public bug reported: When I open the Software Center "Ubuntu Software," at the top Updates shows the 1 indicator meaning there's an update. When I click on it, it says there's an OS Update available. I click on Install, and it seems to go through the install process (the status bar is moving), but then after, when the program refreshes, it still says that update is available. It never goes away. The update it is trying to install is grub-efi-amd64-signed, then over a bit it says 1.66.2+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.2. ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2016-08-25 23-29-54.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617158/+attachment/4728094/+files/Screenshot%20from%202016-08-25%2023-29-54.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1617158 Title: Software Center always shows an OS update is available To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1617158/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1617129] [NEW] "Startup Applications" not saving after reboot. Also program added does not run at reboot.
Public bug reported: Hello, When using Startup Applications in a fresh install of 16.04 I select "Add" and place my information for the program in the proper lines. An example is a terminal package called Guake. In 14.04 when using the Startup Applications and adding this package it would run at startup, reboot or re-logging in. in 14.04 in general I have not encountered this issue. There is a item that is always there and that is "NVIDIA X Server Settings" (this may be the cause of my other issue Bug 1615864), but I will leave that to the other report. I also noticed after adding the program to autostart at boot up that there was nothing added to the .config/autostart folder. Maybe this is not related? Again, pointing to Bug 1615864 for the reason the script is not autostarting. Could this be an issue with autostart not reading the added items from the GUI or even the manually added script I placed in the autostart folder for my graphics issue? I must have added Guake a dozen times along with some test items to start. Each and every time the items fall out of the GUI and have to be re-added and they did not run after boot. [Bug 1617098] [NEW] network-manager-openvpn max-routes support
Public bug reported: Hi, Currently in Ubuntu 16.04 network-manager-openvpn does not support the openvpn --max-routes switch. This means that per omission the VPN connection supports 100 routes that can be pushed by the openvpn server to the client. If the openvpn server pushes more 100 routes, which can happen in some cases, the VPN establishment fails. >From OpenVPN manual: "--max-routes n Allow a maximum number of n --route options to be specified, either in the local configuration file, or pulled from an OpenVPN server. By default, n=100." Can you do one of the following? - Fully support max-routes in the GUI, with an option to choose the value of the max-routes or, simpler: - Do not implement the max-routes in the GUI but add '--max-routes 500' for example for all openvpn connection establishments. I mean increase the number of maximum routes for all openvpn connections with network-manager. [Bug 1616905] [NEW] lightdm install prompts about default dm even though debconf value set
Public bug reported: I've got gdm3-3.18.3-0ubuntu2 installed on a Xenial 16.04 system with apt. Now I need to install lightdm-1.18.2-0ubuntu2 as well and also need to avoid being asked any questions. But the system asks me, what default DM (display manager) to use. Copying from Bug #1020770, I set some values with debconf. $ echo "debconf debconf/priority select critical lightdm shared/default-x-display-manager select lightdm gdm3 shared/default-x-display-manager select lightdm" | sudo debconf-set-selections -v info: Trying to set 'debconf/priority' [select] to 'critical' info: Loading answer for 'debconf/priority' info: Trying to set 'shared/default-x-display-manager' [select] to 'lightdm' info: Loading answer for 'shared/default-x-display-manager' info: Trying to set 'shared/default-x-display-manager' [select] to 'lightdm' info: Loading answer for 'shared/default-x-display-manager' When I now install lightdm (or reconfigure it), it is ignoring that I set the value to "lightdm". I confirmed that by having a look at /etc/X11/default-display-manager: $ cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager /usr/sbin/gdm3 When I manually answer the DM question and give "lightdm" as the answer, the file contains "/usr/sbin/lightdm". dpkg-reconfigure in non-interactive mode: $ sudo env DEBCONF_DEBUG=developer dpkg-reconfigure -fnoninteractive lightdm debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.prerm upgrade 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.config reconfigure 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): <-- METAGET shared/default-x-display-manager owners debconf (developer): --> 0 gdm, gdm3, lightdm, slim debconf (developer): <-- METAGET shared/default-x-display-manager choices debconf (developer): --> 0 gdm, gdm3, lightdm, slim debconf (developer): <-- SET shared/default-x-display-manager gdm3 debconf (developer): --> 0 value set debconf (developer): <-- INPUT high shared/default-x-display-manager debconf (developer): --> 30 question skipped debconf (developer): <-- GO debconf (developer): --> 0 ok debconf (developer): <-- GET shared/default-x-display-manager debconf (developer): --> 0 gdm3 debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.postinst configure 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): <-- STOP And in interactive mode: $ sudo env DEBCONF_DEBUG=developer dpkg-reconfigure lightdm debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.prerm upgrade 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.config reconfigure 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): <-- METAGET shared/default-x-display-manager owners debconf (developer): --> 0 gdm, gdm3, lightdm, slim debconf (developer): <-- METAGET shared/default-x-display-manager choices debconf (developer): --> 0 gdm, gdm3, lightdm, slim debconf (developer): <-- SET shared/default-x-display-manager gdm3 debconf (developer): --> 0 value set debconf (developer): <-- INPUT high shared/default-x-display-manager debconf (developer): --> 0 question will be asked debconf (developer): <-- GO debconf (developer): --> 0 ok debconf (developer): <-- GET shared/default-x-display-manager debconf (developer): --> 0 lightdm debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/lightdm.postinst configure 1.18.2-0ubuntu2 debconf (developer): <-- GET shared/default-x-display-manager debconf (developer): --> 0 lightdm debconf (developer): <-- GET lightdm/daemon_name debconf (developer): --> 0 /usr/sbin/lightdm debconf (developer): <-- STOP To me, this is a bug in lightdm (or gdm3, which has the same code and problem), because it doesn't seem to honor the values set with debconf and thus makes it impossible to install without having to manually answer questions. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1616905 Title: lightdm install prompts about default dm even though debconf value set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/1616905/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
This is still the case on 16.04.1. System is a Laptop with an older Core i5, 4 GB RAM. While transferring some 200MB files the system is completely unusable. At this point it's a little embarrassing not to be able to transfer files to a USB drive without getting system freezes in 2016 on a fresh install. The workaround (vm.dirty etc) should not be necessary. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208993 Title: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1208993/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
