VPN to the US.

[Bug 1694076] [NEW] No error message on firmware update fail

2017-05-27 Thread Yuri Astrakhan
Public bug reported:

While on battery, i tried to install bios firmware from Ubuntu Software.
Clicking "install" in the update tab grayed it out for a second, and
then restored back to being clickable. I tried it several times without
any failure notifications, but it was clearly not doing anything.
Rebooting several times also didn't help. Finally, in the system log, I
noticed this error, explaining the issue. This error should have been
shown to me in UI, without the need to go into the logs.

[Bug 1685141] Re: System freezes after locking screen

2017-05-27 Thread IA
@jaes I'm not sure how you disabled notifications on the lock screen as
I'm unable to find any settings along the lines of what you described on
stock 17.04.

Unfortunately I cannot switch to the proprietary Nvidia drivers
(v375.39) because using it I am unable to boot :(

The last thing I want to do is downgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but the
current situation is untenable. Does anyone else have any other ideas?

from the stacktrace on errors.u.c, it looks like that is happening under
wayland. It looks to me like Xwayland under the gdm3 gnome-shell greeter
