[Bug 1762899] Re: /etc/resolv.conf empty after upgrading from 16.04 to 18.40

2018-04-10 Thread Steve Langasek
I think we need to handle this via removal of the resolvconf package on
upgrade. Removal (not purge) seems to be sufficient.

Dimitri, is there any remaining reason for systemd to not conflict: with

snapd-glib 1.39-0ubuntu1 has the change. I did manage to make a test
program that left a lot of file descriptors, but still haven't managed
to get GNOME Software to do the same thing by using it. Hopefully it
will fix it!

 1. Apply the workaround from bug 994921.
 2. Next time the issue happens, look in /var/crash for crash files and report
them by running:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash

2018-04-10 Thread R. Becke
I had the same issue with Ubuntu 18.40 (final Beta) and HP EliteBook 850
G5 and reported the bug 1762814 and the solution (or rather workaround)
for me was to blacklist amdgpu and this gnome shell crash, all the boot
errors and suspend issues were gone.

How to blacklist amdgpu is described here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/360709/how-to-blacklist-amdgpu

sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
...
blacklist amdgpu
...

sudo update-initramfs -u

I've as well made my comment on this here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/769581/ubuntu-16-04-not-waking-up-after-
suspend-on-hp-elitebook-8440-and-spamming-kern/1023798#1023798

Workaround appears to be 'ssh-add -d' to remove the dynamically added
identities - it then seems to reload from identity file and includes the
key comment.

[Bug 1762794] [NEW] Can't complete purchases in GNOME Software

2018-04-10 Thread Will Cooke
Public bug reported:

(Using the PPA with the purchasing stuff in)

With the release of a paid snap in the store I tried to buy it with
GNOME Software starting on a fresh machine. Here's what happened:

* I search for and found the kiosc snap
* Clicking on the details showed that it was priced at 9.99 USD
* I click on the snap and was asked if I was sure I wanted to buy
* I was asked to login to the store
* I didnt have any credit card information and so Firefox opened and took me to
the page to add a credit card, which I did, and then closed firefox.
* I switched back to G-S and clicked on the 9.99 button again
* I received an email from the store confirming my purchase
* However - the snap was not installed. Click the button more times didn't
result in more purchases, nor did it install the snap.

[Bug 1762797] [NEW] Gnome wayland session crashes on newer kernels

2018-04-10 Thread Troels Liebe Bentsen
Public bug reported:

I got a new Dell XPS 9370 and upgraded it to 17.10, the included
kernel(4.13.0-38-generic) seems to be working except for some short
temporary hangs(1-3 secs) ones in a while under wayland.

Therefore I tried upgrading the kernel to a newer version to see if it
fixed the issue:

4.15.0-13-generic (from 18.04)
4.16.1-041601-generic (from mainline), bug report on this kernel.

For both kernels gdm will startup without issue and then after 5-10
seconds the UI will hang and keyboard/mouse will become unresponsive.

I installed an OpenSSH server and grabbed this bug report from there.

Still actual in 18.04.

The Control Center applet shows "Super+Page Up" for "Move to workspace

[Bug 1762738] [NEW] Volume indicator doesn't work

2018-04-10 Thread Omer Mano
Public bug reported:

The volume indicator icon shows the volume as muted, but sound is on. I
can click on the indicator to pop up the menu, but neither the sliders
nor the buttons have any effect.

Changing sound settings through the "Sound" unity control center
application works fine.

[Bug 1697377] [NEW] Change TextBoxes Direction for RTL languages

2018-04-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My and all RTL language users problem is that there us no option to
change text direction in a text-box! for example in windows when i press
left CTRL+SHIFT text direction sets to LTR and when press right
CTRL+SHIFT direction changes to RTL. It is a really big problem for us
and its a essential feature. Also automatic direction detection base on
language direction is not good solution at all.

shortcuts

Ctrl + Shift = Switch the keyboard layout when multiple keyboard layouts
are available.
