[Bug 1666681] Re: Restore interactive_search.patch (type-ahead search)

2018-05-13 Thread Chris Billington
Lubomir, what changes were required on top of the arch patch to work
with 3.26.3? I'm using the Arch patch as-is on Ubuntu 18.04 and there
don't appear to be any problems that I've noticed so far. But assuming
your changes are necessary, could you publish them somewhere? It would
be great to maybe have a public git repo that people could contribute to
to maintain patches for the latest few versions of Nautilus that are in
common use.

Ubuntu devs - now that there is a working patch again (and seemingly the
will to maintain it by the arch community and others), might Ubuntu be
able to ship a patched nautilus once more restoring this behaviour?

[Bug 1771031] Re: Please remove libgnome from Ubuntu

2018-05-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

libgnome has been removed from Debian Testing and will not be included
in the Debian 10 "Buster" release. We should do the same. If we do it
now, maybe some projects will do the needed porting work away from
libgnome (porting to gtk3 is probably needed) in time for Ubuntu 20.04
LTS or Debian 10. Users who are hurt by these removals can keep using

[Bug 1766799] Re: gnome-control-center (ERROR) ../shell/cc-panel-list.c → 926 → cc_panel_list_set_active_panel → assertion failed → (data != NULL)

2018-05-13 Thread Nathan Graule
I was able to reproduce the problem by having both the Ubuntu and GNOME
session.

1. Login with Ubuntu session
2. Select the Dock settings panel
3. Logout, then back in with GNOME session
4. Launch gnome-control-center

It will try to open back the (now non-existent) Dock settings panel and
SEGFAULT. It appears to do that when trying to show a non-existent
panel.

Workaround:

1. Login into Ubuntu session
2. Open Settings, and select a panel that exists on both sessions (so any panel
except the Dock it seems)
3. Log back out, and then back into the GNOME session.

Now the settings should open without SEGFAULT.

[Bug 1770783] Re: Noto emoji should provide a fontconfig file to prioritize emoji fonts

2018-05-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Oh, I see. This bug was filed in response to
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029661/18-04-color-emoji-not-showing-
up-at-all-in-chrome-only-partially-in-firefox/

If you look at the source code for the demo page, that page only uses
the EmojiOne Color font which we don't provide by default in Ubuntu.

Therefore, I'm closing this bug since the test case is invalid.

[Bug 1765261] Re: [regression] Ubuntu 18.04 login screen rejects a valid password on first attempt. Usually works on the second attempt

2018-05-13 Thread compagnon
I confirm the bug on Ubuntu 18.04 + Gnome-Shell

It appears only after a locked screen, not at startup.
When I type my password to unlock, the first time always fails.
The second it OK.

If I type any character, then delete all with backspace and retype the
password, it is OK at the first time.
It seems as it has an invisible character by default.

[Bug 1716174] Re: [Suggested feature] Add the option --select

2018-05-13 Thread Ads20000
This already happens in Files 3.26.3-0ubuntu4 on Ubuntu 18.04 except you
don't need the `--select` flag. If you want, you could file a bug asking
for a feature where the behaviour _without_ select opens the Open With
dialogue and then re-open this bug (but link to your new bug) and then
we could forward them both as one bug upstream? :) Alternatively, could
you clarify that you would like the behaviour to change to what I just
described?

[Bug 1666264] Re: FFe: Update gnome-terminal to 3.24 and vte to 0.48

2018-05-13 Thread Sebastian Geiger
This is really a mess. If we as developers cannot trust a particular
version of a library to contain the features advertised by the
documentation then that is a big problem.

As a developer working on open source software in my spare time I have
enough to do to keep up with the latest library changes and migrating my
package to drop deprecated features. I don't want to waste my time
trying to understand why a particular feature does not work as
advertised.

[Bug 1770940] [NEW] Kexec reboot doesn't work on 18.04 non-EFI system

2018-05-13 Thread MegaBrutal
Public bug reported:

Unclear whether to report it against kexec-tools or systemd.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04, the „systemctl kexec” command gives the
following error message:
Cannot find the ESP partition mount point.

What's interesting is that strace shows that systemctl tries to find the
EFI partition before it emits the error message, like it was expecting
an EFI system. My laptop is not capable of EFI, and it wasn't a problem
for previous Ubuntu releases – the „systemctl kexec” command worked fine
before.

Here is my systemd version:

root@thinkpad:~# systemd --version
systemd 237
+PAM +AUDIT +SELINUX +IMA +APPARMOR +SMACK +SYSVINIT +UTMP +LIBCRYPTSETUP
+GCRYPT +GNUTLS +ACL +XZ +LZ4 +SECCOMP +BLKID +ELFUTILS +KMOD -IDN2 +IDN -PCRE2
default-hierarchy=hybrid

And my kexec-tools version is 1:2.0.16-1ubuntu1.

I attached an strace output.

[Bug 1770919] [NEW] use_tempaddr is reset to 0, despite /etc/sysctl.d

2018-05-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm on a fresh install of 18.04 Server. It ships with the following file
in /etc/sysctl.d:

# cat /etc/sysctl.d/10-ipv6-privacy.conf
# IPv6 Privacy Extensions (RFC 4941)
# ---
# IPv6 typically uses a device's MAC address when choosing an IPv6 address
# to use in autoconfiguration. Privacy extensions allow using a randomly
# generated IPv6 address, which increases privacy.
#
# Acceptable values:
#0 - don’t use privacy extensions.
#1 - generate privacy addresses
#2 - prefer privacy addresses and use them over the normal addresses.
net.ipv6.conf.all.use_tempaddr = 2
net.ipv6.conf.default.use_tempaddr = 2

however, on boot, my physical NIC enp0s31f6 ends up with use_tempaddr
set to 0:

# for i in $(ls /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/*/use_tempaddr); do echo $i; cat $i;
done;
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/use_tempaddr
2
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/default/use_tempaddr
2
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/enp0s31f6/use_tempaddr
0
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/lo/use_tempaddr
-1

Explicitly adding the following line to 10-ipv6-privacy.conf does not
fix:

net.ipv6.conf.enp0s31f6.use_tempaddr = 2

It appears that a later stage of the boot process reapplies the 0 value.
A workaround is to add the line, then create an additional systemd unit
that runs `systemctl restart systemd-sysctl.service` at the end of the
boot process.

I think the expected behavior, given the contents of
/etc/sysctl.d/10-ipv6-privacy.conf, is that all NICs should come up with
use_tempaddr set to 2. This does not happen; moreover, the workaround is
counterintuitive.

** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
