[Bug 1772557] [NEW] FREETYPE_PROPERTIES environment variable is not respected
Public bug reported: As stated by the Freetype documentation, I should be able to use `FREETYPE_PROPERTIES` to control some options such as whether TrueType fonts are hinted using Hinting Engine v35 or v40, or whether stem darkening for CFF(i.e. OpenType PostScript Flavor) fonts are enabled. I think this should work in everything that uses FreeType, but apparently it doesn't work in Gnome-Terminal. It does work in xterm, and even xfce4-terminal, which also uses libVTE to provide terminal emulation. Actual Results: `FREETYPE_PROPERTIES` doesn't take effect. Expected Results: Should work as in xterm or xfce4-terminal. Additional Information: I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, with gnome-terminal 3.28.1. The correctly working xfce4-terminal's version is 0.8.7.3. ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "xfce4-terminal (left) vs gnome-terminal (right)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772557/+attachment/5142674/+files/freetype_properties.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772557 Title: FREETYPE_PROPERTIES environment variable is not respected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1772557/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Confirm (Super - L) not working on Ubuntu 18.04, switching keyboard language does not work either most of the time (Super + Space). Those I use the most. Extremely annoying after some time, especially when using dual screens (since the Gnome top bar is only on one monitor which is even more annoying: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- shell/+bug/1682542). [Bug 1772365] Re: gnome-shell + chrome doing nothing consumes 60%+ CPU all the time
I think this is probably expected for now. Chrome using significant CPU when tabs are open on non-trivial pages is expected. [Bug 1772365] [NEW] gnome-shell + chrome doing nothing consumes 60%+ CPU all the time
Public bug reported: This is somewhat similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-shell/+bug/1696305 After a few cycles of suspend, working with external monitor, running Chrome with 10+ opened tabs causes gnome-shell and chrome to use 60% of CPU just idling. [Bug 1766137] Re: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only)
Hmm, actually it is arguably worse with version 3.28.0-0ubuntu1.1 The problem with that version is that you can't log in more than once without encountering a new login screen freeze, that is unlike this one.
