Fair enough. It's likely mutter stealing the focus for whatever is
getting the focus. And somehow I only just noticed that bug 2020672
describes the same.

The latter.

Confirmed that it does not appear in the output of

gnome-extensions list --enabled

However, I'm still seeing the buggy behavior when switching workspaces.

[Bug 2008977] Re: Make Wayland sessions work with fbdev

2023-05-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
** Description changed:

Make Wayland sessions work with fbdev. For when KMS/DRM support is
missing in the kernel but the device still has legacy graphics.

Currently Xorg already does this with a custom driver that allows it to
fall back to using fbdev. We could do the same with mutter but it's
unlikely to be accepted by upstream since Fedora opted to solve it by
just enabling SimpleDRM in the kernel:

  https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/ReplaceFbdevDrivers

This started out being a personal goal for me but will also be a
- business requirement in future as Ubuntu Core Desktop does not ship Xorg
- (but does ship Xwayland). So we need to give mutter some way of using
- fbdev graphics.

[Bug 2020782] Re: Changing display scale setting and reverting it, causes gnome-shell to error with "Failed to restore previous configuration" and other error messages

2023-05-30 Thread Fabio Augusto Miranda Martins
I also tested Daniel's mutter package with:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vanvugt/mutter
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

And rebooted the Workspace just in case.

I know Mustafa mentioned he was still able to reproduce the issue. In my
case, I wasn't but on the other hand, I can't do the action that would
allow me to reproduce it.

When I go to display settings, I don't have an option to change the
scale, but I do have the option to enable "Fractional Scaling", but if I
enable it, I don't have an apply button to enable it, so this never gets
enabled and doesn't get to a situation where I can change/revert the
scale to see if I would be able to reproduce the issue or not.

2023-05-30 Thread Merci
Hi Andreas,

I tried testing the fix, but im not sure if I did it right. The steps I
followed, mostly based on the guide you sent are:

 1. Enable proposed updates from the Developer options in Software & Updates
 2. Run `sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/jammy-proposed`

Im not quite sure if im missing something. I also tried downloading and
installing the .deb file, with no change in the dock behavior.

2023-05-30 Thread Amin Bandali
Hi all,

Apologies again for the slow reply, and thanks for accepting this into
jammy-proposed.

I've tested and I can verify that nautilus 1:42.6-0ubuntu1 from jammy-
proposed fixes the bug per the above test case, and otherwise nautilus
seems to continue work well and as expected (I did some general testing:
browsing to different directories, opening different kinds of files,
checking file and folder properties and permissions, ...).

I experienced no problems or regressions, so I'm marking this as
verification-done-jammy.

[Bug 1993214] Re: [jammy] Update gjs to 1.74 using mozjs102 102.3

** Description changed:

  Impact
  --
GNOME Shell uses the SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine from Firefox ESR (mozjs).
Firefox 92 ESR has reached end of life; therefore, we should switch to the 102
ESR series for security updates for the next year.

This requires updating gjs from 1.72 to 1.74 from GNOME 43, as packaged
  in Ubuntu 22.10.

This will be done as a Security Update.

Updating mozjs in stable Ubuntu releases was recommended when Ubuntu
first switched back to GNOME, but this is the first time it's been done.

  Security Impact
  ---
  I looked through
  https://github.com/mozilla/gecko-dev/commits/esr102/js
and searched for referenced bug numbers in
  https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/
for Firefox ESR releases since Ubuntu's 91.10

and found one CVE. Also, there's the vague Mozilla Bug 1771084 (no CVE
  issued) mentioned at

  https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2022-24/

+
  Uploaded Packages
  -
We will introduce mozjs102, a new source package for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, being
careful to publish it in main, not universe.
  And we'll update gjs.
No other packages need to be updated for this change.
mozjs91 will remain in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (source package removals are
generally not possible), but nothing else in Ubuntu uses it.

--git-tarball-dir=../tarballs
- # That avoids needing to recreate the original tarball from pristine-tar

-
  Initial Testing Done

I built the packages in my PPA.
I installed the packages on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and successfully completed the

[Bug 2020782] Re: Changing display scale setting and reverting it, causes gnome-shell to error with "Failed to restore previous configuration" and other error messages

2023-05-30 Thread Mustafa Kemal Gilor
I'm still able to reproduce the bug with the PPA installed. I'll
investigate this further and share my findings.

[Bug 2015861] Re: cursor does not track window when dragging between monitors with different scaling factors

2023-05-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks, fix verified then.

As for "overview was very laggy", this is the first I've heard of any
regressions from the proposed packages. We definitely want to get to the
bottom of that so when you have time please open a new bug about it and
mention:

  * Wayland or Xorg
  * What GPU(s) and drivers are active (lspci -k)

If the problem is real then it will probably block the release.

[Bug 2015861] Re: cursor does not track window when dragging between monitors with different scaling factors

2023-05-30 Thread Tim Holmes-Mitra
Fixes in proposed resolves the issue for me.

After testing I removed the packages because overview was very laggy on
my Z16 but only when connected to an external monitor. Not sure if its
related?

[Bug 2020672] Re: Focus constantly moves to the secondary screen upon workspace switch

2023-05-30 Thread Pirouette Cacahuète
Thanks, I just tried and for now it does not help. The other bug
mentions one might need to restart the session which I can't do at the
moment but will try later.
