Screenshield (and greeter) are actually from gnome-shell, so re-

You should however be able to manually enable lock-screen notifications
with gsettings with the following command (or use dconf-editor):

yeh, I believe its just rhythmbox for now. They are planning to add
MPRIS support at some stage (probably in 3.8) though, so then it should
work with most music apps.

When removing gdm package on quantal, the dm chooser question is always
presented, even when there is only one dm remaining on the system. This
seems to be caused by an issue in the debconf gdm.prerm script.
I made a little test script and discovered the following, although
There is also a second issue in the `gdm.prerm` script, lightdm no
longer has a 'daemon_name' key, so the following command will fail with
status 10, if someone trys to configure lightdm from the dm chooser when
removing gdm.
db_get $RET/daemon_name
This will only cause be a problem when the
Ubuntu filters out all accounts with UID 1000 from accounts Service
(so they won't display in gdm or user settings).
Can you try it with a user with UID = 1000, and see if the password bug
still occurs?
