Hey guys... hey Daniel,

Do you guys know when the fix will officially be available for 22.4.04
LTS? Is it expected in the next few days or weeks, or will it take a
long time to happen?

Thanks a lot!

[Bug 1968887] Re: Save As Dialog Box does not get focus in Ubuntu 22.04

2024-04-09 Thread Gabriel Kaufmann
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1949340 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949340

Facing this annoying issue on Ubuntu 23.10. Well I know it's "bad boy"
to use Non-LTS, but I had to do for another software/upgrade only
available when 23.04 wasn't released yet :-(

Any news on this? On 22.04 I had before the Upgrade (to 23.10) I didn't
have this annoying problem!

[Bug 2022916] [NEW] gdbusconnection: Explicitly destroy an idle source on cleanup

2023-06-05 Thread Mike Gabriel
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu Touch we run into regular unit test freezes of lomiri-app-
launch (formerly known as ubuntu-app-launch) based on some race time
conditions (number of CPUs to build/test on, CPU speed, etc.).

As it turned out, the game changer is a commit in glib2.0 upstream:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/commit/5a69cc22dc9564db55e68531fb8250dcca7aaf17

It would be super-cool to see this commit applied on top of glib2.0 in
Ubuntu focal and Ubuntu jammy.

Thanks+Greets,
Mike (aka sunweaver @ Debian, working for the UBports core dev team these days)

[Bug 1983042] [NEW] gstreamer-vaapi 1.20.1-1ubuntu1 can't be installed

2022-07-28 Thread Gabriel de Perthuis
Public bug reported:

The "Depends: libgstreamer-plugins-bad1.0-0 (>= 1.20.3)" kept when backporting
gstreamer-vaapi 1.20.3 isn't matched by such a backported version of the
libgstreamer-plugins-bad1.0-0 package.
See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1970013/comments/18

I'm not sure if the other package should be backported or if the
dependency metadata change should be reverted.

Looking at the upstream bug, the fix does interact with the bad plugins
by giving them higher priority. Not sure if either option has been
sufficiently tested.

In my case, adding MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0 to /etc/environment
worked. After reboot, the screen turns off and stays off. I will do

[Bug 1929650] [NEW] Screen doesn't turn off when using Wayland on a Thinkpad E480

2021-05-26 Thread Gabriel Ionescu
Public bug reported:

When the screen of my laptop (Thinkpad E480) is supposed to turn off
(because of inactivity or when actively locking screen), the screen
dims, turns off for a second and then turns back on while remaining
dimmed. I can see the backlight of the screen and the cursor.

This bug is only present when using a wayland-session regardless of my
settings. It also happens with a fresh user account. Additionally, I
tested with the 5.8 and 5.12 kernels with the same result.

I upgraded my system from 19.10/Eoan to 20.04 and when I go to the
overview (Activities menu/hotspot), search an application and click on
it it no longer launches. If I right click on it and select "Add to

I have not been able to find how to debug this issue but it is very
annoying. Someone said it may have to do with the way .desktop files are

I upgraded my system from 19.10/Eoan to 20.04 and when I go to the
overview (Activities menu/hotspot), search an application and click on
it it no longer launches. If I right click on it and select "Add to
favorites" and then go to the dock and click on it it launches fine.

I have not been able to find how to debug this issue but it is very
annoying. Someone said it may have to do with the way .desktop files are
handled now.

Can someone please help?

Thank you!

[Bug 1885170] [NEW] Feature request: make nemo the default file manager instead of nautilus

2020-06-25 Thread Gabriel Staples
Public bug reported:

I'd like to propose that you make nemo the default file manager packaged
with Ubuntu in the future instead of Nautilus. My justification is
centered around utility, use of space, and features. Please see the
portion of my answer near the bottom titled "Why use nemo over Ubuntu's
default nautilus file manager?" here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1066752/how-to-set-nemo-as-the-default-
file-manager-in-ubuntu-18-04/1173861#1173861.

[Bug 1866022] Re: XTerm/X icon has a blue 0054 unicode glyph rendered on top

2020-05-22 Thread Gabriel MUHL
I, too, have this problem. U+0054 is a "T", and in the normal XTerm logo
there's a blue T at that location. I think Gnome does not handle this
kind of icon and glitches out on the Unicode character

[Bug 134313] Re: pdfimages produces inverted image for black & white image

2019-11-09 Thread Gabriel Staples
Related:

"In general, Acrobat and Reader will show a negative image when the
image data indicates that it needs to be inverted. When you have images
that are compressed with the CCITTG4 algorithm, there is a flag in the
image data that indicates if a logical "1" indicates black or white. The
software that created this document must have used the wrong value for
this flag. I've seen similar effects also with certain CMYK JPEG images
(but it's been years since I encountered the last one of those) where
the PDF generator created corrupt data."

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1799293 ***

It's also happening to me. I noticed that it happens either if you press
Super+L or if you press the "lock" button in the GUI menu at the top
left of the screen.

Thank you.

[Bug 1799293] Re: Locking the screen once leaves screen contents visible but not interactive. Locking the screen a second time works.

2019-01-14 Thread Gabriel C.
@hjwp2, For most folk I do believe Super+L twice is sufficient but it
isn't a full workaround. While it does suspend the machine, it doesn't
prevent the thing folks are fussing about: If someone wakes up your
machine the UI is still bugged, so a random citizen is still able to
interact with the docks (so they can run any script you have in your
dock). That and... maybe you don't want to suspend your machine. How
big of a deal these are is... relative.

[Bug 1800352] Re: screen lock leaves desktop and current applications displayed unless activated twice

2018-12-03 Thread Gabriel C.
@hjwp2 - FWIW, for me it does bring up the lock screen but it's still
bugged, as--while I cannot interact with them once they're started--I am
able to start applications in the Gnome Dock and as well as interact
with any Gnome Activities Bar widgets.

Depending on what's on your dock, I suppose this could be "bad".

videos because they are too big.

Also copying files from the computer to a media device (camera,
smartphone etc) is broken for the same reason.

[Bug 885592] Re: No parent folder button in Nautilus

Makes me think of Apple when you tell them their phone loses call or the
pictures have a violet aura, it's not the product, it's that you don't
know how to use it ;-).

I agree, up is essential for a file mangager with a hiarchical (e.g.

I tried image in my previous attachment again and it worked fine this
time so it's not for every jpeg-2000 image.

However, new image in attachment does reproducibly crash nautilus in
ubuntu 64bit 13.04 livecd. It works in 32bit livecd fine though so
indeed this bug probably applies only to 64bit. Tried in virtualbox.

[Bug 1031685] [NEW] resuming playback of a magnatune ogg stream is broken

2012-08-01 Thread Gabriel Pannwitz
Public bug reported:

I like to listen to music from magnatune's catalogue ( for which I have
a membership ) via streams. I have set my preference to ogg vorbis
streams. If I pause a stream, and then resume it some time later, it
will continue to play for a couple of seconds, and then skip to the next
track. This seems to happen quite regularly, though it may be somewhat
dependent on how long the stream was paused. It would be nice if I
could resume a track, regardless of how long it was paused. Although, I
would admit this is not a critical bug.

It used to not do that...so unless X was redesigned in between Ubuntu

[Bug 397552] Re: [Solved 50%] Rhythmbox crash (no sound, but the interface contunue to work) after , and exactly after, 3 song, whatever it play...

2012-01-25 Thread Gabriel Genois
Yes it's Crossfade. (My system is in french ^^). Then... it's not the
same problem.

Can you say me if you are on ubuntu regular, ubuntu + gnome 3, ubuntu
+ KDE + rythmbox, or anything else...

Im now on ArchLinux. So... you can try this:

- Full update
- Log-out then login.. try... if the bug persist :

- Check if an other audio-server is installed. If yes, check your setting if
rythmbox, or the system defaut, use the good one.
- Re-install g-streamer and it plugin via synaptic (like full remove + install
if you can)
- Re-install rythmbox via synaptic like g-streamer
- logout and then login
- try it...

Did you try to desactivate the smooth effect between song ? That solve
the problem for me. After with update I can now activate it with no bug
on ubuntu. I got the same issue with archlinux with gnome3 recently. I
re-install the sound server and all it plugins and it solve it.

[Bug 750429] Re: empathy uses proxy when it shouldn't

2011-12-19 Thread Gabriel
Muhammad, you didn't read the bug correctly, Empathy uses the proxy. The
problem is that you may not want it to use the proxy although you want
the other network clients to. Here is the usecase (see also comment #3):

we have a proxy to access the internet, but use an internal chat server
for our messaging. So if Empathy can't be told to not use the proxy I
can't connect to the internal chat server, since it tries to use the
proxy which isn't to be used for internal communications. In Pidgin, you
can tell it to not use the proxy, thus Pidgin works in my usecase but
Empathy doesn't.

[Bug 874660] Re: Two finger scrolling works poorly - utouch to blame

2011-12-16 Thread Gabriel Hege
Adding --disable-gestures to /usr/share/applications/evince.desktop is only a
parital solution for me. I often start evince from the shell and then the
annoying gestures are back...
How can anybody include such a half-baked feature without the ability to
properly turn it off?

What I would expect is the possibility to turn off gestures for evince
(and other possibly broken apps) through gconf or even better: Have
libgrip as an optional dependency so one can just `apt-get purge
libgrip0` similar to how you get rid ot the overlay-scrollbars...

[Bug 902814] [NEW] Context menu over find dialog has strange grey separator

2011-12-11 Thread Gabriel Gendler
Public bug reported:

Right clicking on the find bar in Oneiric gives a context menu starting with
search related optins (match case, full word etc. - the options given when you
click on the magnifying glass) followed by text related options like cut, copy
and paste.
The two sections are separated by a thick grey horizontal bar rather than GTK's
usual thin, subtle bar.

[Bug 667114] Re: totem doesn't show subtitles

2011-11-01 Thread Gabriel
Hi, I also have this problem, I will gladly give you whatever info you
need. I tried to do just what the original reported did today and it
doesn't show the subs. I tried with VLC and mplayer and they both work
fine with the subs. I tried to rename the *.srt file just like the *.mp4
file, copied it alongside the video and tried it again (since the doc
sais Totem loads the subs automatically if it is in the same directory
and it has the same name), but that didn't help.

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession_errors file grows out of control saturates disk space

2011-09-20 Thread Gabriel
I have this on a fresh install of 11.04, in about 5 days without
rebooting, logging-out/in or suspending my .xsession-errors fills up to
about 140 GB. I use this system for work so this is really annoying,
rebooting or logging out/in is a hassle because I have to re-setup my
environment (I can't automate this). I checked the /etc/X11/Xsession and
it is supposed to be doing the rotation (which it doesn't seem to be
doing in reality).

Cheers

[Bug 836669] [NEW] gnome-screenshot only captures wallpaper

2011-08-29 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

When trying to grab a screenshot of the entire desktop, gnome screenshot
only grabs the default Ubuntu wallpaper (not the one in use) and none of
the panels. It does capture the mouse pointer.

I have a attached the photo that it takes. No top panel and no
applications on the left hand side. In addition, if you have any windows
open, it will not capture them either. No crash report is generated.

[Bug 750429] Re: empathy uses proxy when it shouldn't

2011-07-18 Thread Gabriel
Yes, I have this too. I need to use OCS for work (via the pidgin sipe
plugin) but it doesn't use/need the proxy. I need the proxy for access
to the internet though, so I have the global proxy set for apps to
access the internet. I added the OCS server to the proxy ignore list but
that doesn't seem to work. I tried using Pidgin and it also fails, until
I tell it not to use the proxy; this of course isn't possible with
Empathy right now. I think my use case is actually a frequent one for
enterprise environments (needing the proxy for web access but not for
the internal company chat/IM, which usually does not have access to the
internet).

Updated to libgtk-3-0 3.1.6-0ubuntu2. Seems to have fixed the issue.

Rhythmbox works fine now.
