hi all. try two things: chaneg MTU from auto to 1500 or 1000 Disable jumbo frames on your switch. Niticing that the problem happened when opening a video file, or with massive/fast file access, I changed MTU to 700, to see if it slowed things down and reduced the problem. it seems so, I was even able to scan music collection - slowly, but with no read errors. Increased MTU to 1500 - and I still do not see problems. Also: disabled jumbo frame support on my switch. [Bug 1077696] [NEW] mounted samba share stops working for file access
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.10 - same problem when acessing SMB shares from two computers same for shares both on Ubuntu 12.10 server, and a windows server. Reproduce; it helps if you play a video/movie using vlc or mplayer from share. the file should be open for hours. (use pause) - when unpaused, the file will play fine. -no new big files on that share will open, small files may work. unmounting + remounting the SMB share may fixe the problem, but other processes may be affected: VLC - while stuck with such samba problem, is impossible to kill, same for smplayer sudo killall vlc -s KILL .. will not kill it. and so unmounting the share takes 10 attempts.. Yes, it's completely reproducible I have 4 Ubuntu computers (2 workstations , 2 laptops, at home+work) - all have this problem. [Bug 575337] [NEW] power manager delays logon, and there is no batery icon
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager during boot: (travelmate 4230) after the proper background + mouse pointer is displayed, and sound plays it's a 20-30 seconds delay before the login window appears. after logging in , power-manager crash-window appears, the bizzare thing is that in order to proceed with logon, I need to click logoff anyway. Then after more delay, desktop appears, but panels are delayed. finally panels appear, but no battery icon, starting power management takes also *very* long time. misc operationsnow-and then seem to be delayed by this problem.
