[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
I suspect there are also other related problems here. I always used the right control (while pressed) option, but since 13.10 it seems to identify the Right CTRL key the same as Right ALT on my keyboard. Is that normal??? Gnome-tweak-tool does not work here either, nothing I set there takes effect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Sorry, the Right CTRL thing was unrelated... The PPA does the job, but obviously it's not the same as the good old options. Why the hell did they have to remove the button that brought up the advanced keyboard options from the Gnome settings? [Bug 607497] Re: Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade
It looks like the problem is that Nautilus is version 2.31 (so Maverick version). It makes sense, cause it offered me a partial update. I think you'll get the same problem if u replace ur Nautilus with 2.31! But reinstalling replaces it with the same version. I would like to get back to 2.30, which is the intended one for Ubuntu 10.04. So, is it possible to temporarily remove Nautilus without consequences to install the old one? And, by the way, is it normal that the Update manager did a partial upgrade instead of a normal update? I have looked through my PPA sources and there's none I could blame for this. -- Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Has anybody tried the RGBA partial GTK+ window transparency? After 2 days of testing I think it works fine, but, on the other hand, makes the problem discussed here even worse. Recently I'm facing this problem very rarely, however, with RGBA transparency enabled, at nearly every boot I saw some visual corruption (usually the brightness applet). After disabling RGBA everything is fine again! I felt it's important to point this out, as Ubuntu 10.10 (if I'm not mistaken...) should come with RGBA support prepacked! -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 607497] Re: Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade
Well, I wish I could remember, what else was on the upgrade list, but I have no idea... I'm not even sure if Nautilus was upgraded (I had had the version 2.30.1 even before). I actually blame the Update Manager. I switched to another user. Nautilus started already at some 200 MB's and it took me only 10-15 minutes of playing with it to reach 400. Anything I did kept increasing the memory. Then it seemed to stabilize between 400 and 450. And the slowdown doesn't only come at reaching high RAM, the program's slow from the first moment. -- Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 607497] [NEW] Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I did a partial upgrade 2 days ago (I don't know why my Update Manager did that instead of a normal update). After that everything is the same (or a bit faster) except for Nautilus, that has got extremely slow in opening up, opening directories, ejecting usb devices, etc. And those 400 MB's are enough proof of my troubles, I think... [Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Christian, I use solid panel background colour, which is semi- transparent. However, what I mentioned in comment #111 is not true any more, I've seen the corruption already twice since then... Moreover, I've even seen another type of corruption, described in my comment #157, so using my theme is, sadly, not a solution. Just to test it, for 1 week I was using the default theme and our problem didn't appear there, I only saw it recently again. So it looks like it has nothing in common with themes. However, a little helpful detail: Using semi-transparent panel background excludes the main type of corruption for me, when the affected icon is a doubled one of a neighbouring icon. I've only seen the one when the icon is covered by a solid colour or the other one for which there's a screenshot in #157. -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Actually yeah, you are right, Mint is based on Ubuntu. This conversation contains already too much info, I think. So just to conclude it: 1. it only happens at startup 2. if u reload the panel, everything gets OK 3. the corrupted icon greyed out and is not working, but if you still see a little bit of it, you can click on that part 4. as far as I know, only the notification area or the Indicator applet session button are affected Possible solution: compare the differences between the way how is the panel loaded at startup ←→ and how is the panel loaded back after killing it or compare all that with the way how it works in other gnome distros That is up to the developers, the users can't contribute any more. -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hey, something's going on! Today I've tried again and my Chromium --6.0.420.0 (48550) Ubuntu-- daily build started to play the second link: http://www.ta3.com/sk/relacie/15_svet-technologii/9333_svet-technologii-z-22-maja And suddenly I can open the video with Totem too already. All videos on this site work now! My first link: http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%207/Main/5/5/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652.wmv It still doesn't work in Chromium, no change there (but I can open and play it in Totem as before). However I have to CORRECT myslef, this is an .asf video, not .wmv. So to make a conclusion: .wmv's seem to work now (however, I would give some further testing to it to be sure to say that...), .asf videos still don't play in Chromium, (they do in Firefox with the mpalyer-plugin) but I can open them at least in Totem. [Bug 584057] Re: There's all the time some problem streaming wmv videos in browsers in Ubuntu
I've done a bit of research and I've realized, the problem's not system- wide. I can play streaming .wmv's in Firefox using the mplayer-plugin (screenshot of the Firefox window in action attached). The problem is with the Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem) with the file: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so. However, Chromium doesn't seem to be able to use the mplayer-plugin. here are 2 URL's, opening them in Chromium gives a player window that won't start playing and stays black: http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%207/Main/5/5/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652.wmv I can open this one at least with Totem and it plays correctly. http://www.ta3.com/sk/relacie/15_svet-technologii/9333_svet-technologii-z-22-maja Opening this one with Totem gives this message: An error occurred Location not found. Reinstalling the totem-mozilla package doesn't help. Here's how the whole problem started: I added the Chromium daily-build PPA to the software sources on 22. May 2010 and run an update. From then I couldn't play the streaming .wmv's. However, it may be just a coincidence...
