[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-11 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
I suspect there are also other related problems here. I always used the
right control (while pressed) option, but since 13.10 it seems to
identify the Right CTRL key the same as Right ALT on my keyboard. Is
that normal???

Gnome-tweak-tool does not work here either, nothing I set there takes
effect.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-11 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Sorry, the Right CTRL thing was unrelated...

The PPA does the job, but obviously it's not the same as the good old
options.

Why the hell did they have to remove the button that brought up the
advanced keyboard options from the Gnome settings? I just HATE when
they keep removing good old things that worked, just to show people that
they are actually doing something...

the filenames originally contained some central-european symbols like
čšťž, etc. so first, during the compression the names were distorted,
which created unreadable content.

[Bug 825791] [NEW] The theme sometimes changes to fallback theme on itself, can't change it back

2011-08-13 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Public bug reported:

In spite of the fact that the fallback theme is the one in use, my
original theme still remains selected in Appearance. I can't change the
theme, because clicking on other themes only changes it for the window
of the program Appearance, other windows stay with the fallback theme.
The icon theme will stay the fallback even in the Apprearance window.
After I log out and back in, everything is fine.

I don't know how to reproduce it yet. It happens like once in 2 weeks.

the problem is still there, no matter what audio quality I select! this

the way. should I upload the 2 files for u?

2011-04-01 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
still no attention to this?? I don't understand... the
algorhythm is as old as scrolling itself. and actully there is a window
in gnome where this is already happening. this is the about gnome
window. so obviously, the algorhthm exists in gnome. so why not to apply
this also for any other window? it wouldn't need te be enabled by
default, it would do if it was just possible. but it hasn't occured to
anybody to make it so far :(

[Bug 671238] [NEW] When changing volume the steps are too big, which makes the volume controlling insensitive

2010-11-04 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

This problem gets worse when I use Pulseaudio-equalizer and I set the
premap higher or I use an application with preamp (vlc,...). The steps
used to be 1% in 9.10 (which was really perfect), since 10.04 it has
changes to some 3 or 5%, which is too much.

Solution: This should be possible to change according to the user's
needs!!! Or the step set back to 1%.

[Bug 665925] Re: Nautilus crashes when clicking on the right arrow of the location area if the path is too long

2010-10-28 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
I'm not able to reproduce the bug ur way! The termial never gets
locked. Check my video, if it was really that what I was supposed to
be doing... The first time I tried, after some ten tirals, I ended up
with a black desktop, with Nautilus unable to restart and using up 100%
of processor. Switching off desktop effects does not change anything.

But that's one more thing. I'm experiencing the same problem when
unmounting USB sticks (I click on the arrow next to the drive's name in
the Places area and Nautílus, again, crashes - or exits...). But only
when I have the content of the drive displayed currently, if I'm
dispaying a different folder, it doesn't happen.

I didn't have this problem in the previous releases. I'm using an Asus
EeePC 1000H with WinXP preinstalled. Does this not happen in ur machine?

2010-10-24 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Well, that's what I was doing, I also had the apport start/running
message, but nothing appeared there. I have tried again, but my
terminal's just not doing anything, in spite of the crash, sorry.

Weird... Hope u can make it! If u can't, let me now, I'll try again
later...

[Bug 607497] Re: Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade

2010-08-27 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
It looks like the problem is that Nautilus is version 2.31 (so Maverick
version). It makes sense, cause it offered me a partial update. I think
you'll get the same problem if u replace ur Nautilus with 2.31! But
reinstalling replaces it with the same version. I would like to get back
to 2.30, which is the intended one for Ubuntu 10.04. So, is it possible
to temporarily remove Nautilus without consequences to install the old
one?

And, by the way, is it normal that the Update manager did a partial
upgrade instead of a normal update? I have looked through my PPA sources
and there's none I could blame for this.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-22 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Has anybody tried the RGBA partial GTK+ window transparency?

After 2 days of testing I think it works fine, but, on the other hand,
makes the problem discussed here even worse. Recently I'm facing this
problem very rarely, however, with RGBA transparency enabled, at nearly
every boot I saw some visual corruption (usually the brightness applet).
After disabling RGBA everything is fine again!

I felt it's important to point this out, as Ubuntu 10.10 (if I'm not
mistaken...) should come with RGBA support prepacked!

[Bug 607497] Re: Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade

2010-07-20 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Well, I wish I could remember, what else was on the upgrade list, but I
have no idea... I'm not even sure if Nautilus was upgraded (I had had
the version 2.30.1 even before). I actually blame the Update Manager.

I switched to another user. Nautilus started already at some 200 MB's
and it took me only 10-15 minutes of playing with it to reach 400.
Anything I did kept increasing the memory. Then it seemed to stabilize
between 400 and 450.

And the slowdown doesn't only come at reaching high RAM, the program's
slow from the first moment.

[Bug 607497] [NEW] Nautilus has got terribly slow, eating up 400 MBs of RAM, after a partial upgrade

2010-07-19 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I did a partial upgrade 2 days ago (I don't know why my Update Manager
did that instead of a normal update). After that everything is the same
(or a bit faster) except for Nautilus, that has got extremely slow in
opening up, opening directories, ejecting usb devices, etc. And those
400 MB's are enough proof of my troubles, I think... If u don't believe,
I've attached a screenshot of System Monitor showing this fact. Of
course, it doesn't consume as much all the time, just after some time of
usage → Can't have my PC turned on for long time now.

I have to reinstall Ubuntu just because of Nautilus!

Any suggestions?

Thanx

[Bug 605012] Re: Playing .ogv videos fails: An error occurred pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated

2010-07-15 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 496616 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496616

I don't think this bug is duplicate of bug #496616, I'm starting to
think, the culprit is PITIVI. Other .ogv's are not affected, just the
one I uploaded. Other .ogv's start misbehaving only if this one is
played first. I'm going to create the file again, We'll see what it
does. However, it's still true that that Gnome Mplayer doesn't play the
view in .ogv's correctly, but that might be a different problem.

2010-07-14 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Yeah, sorry, that only occurred to me later.. So here's one. Recently,
this one never works. But it used to work before.

So, again, this was an mp3 file joined with an image downloaded from the
web put together into an .ogv using PITIVI...

I forgot to mention that a reboot many times solves the problem in Totem
(temporarily) and VLC plays this video correctly. Thanks!

Should I mark PITIVI as affected as well?

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-05 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
For Manuel Bua: Does Intel turbo boost work correctly out-of-the-box on
your i7 processor? have u tried benchmarks? Sorry, I know this is not a
blog, but u left no contact on u on launchpad. It's better to ask a user
than google. could u reply with an e-mail? Thanks.

Manuel, u could try to reinstall the panel in Synaptic and all other
affected packages too. In my case, killing the panel always works.

And by the way, why all of u use sudo in the beginning? it's far
enough to type killall gnome-panel in the run application dialogue.
Second, I'm pretty sure this has nothing in common with Nvidia drivers,
I have an Intel GMA graphics (so no proprietary Nvidia drivers
installed) and I'm still affected by the issue.

Actually I haven't had this problem for a very long time (2-3 weeks at
least). I keep updating frequently.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-06-20 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Christian, I use solid panel background colour, which is semi-
transparent. However, what I mentioned in comment #111 is not true any
more, I've seen the corruption already twice since then... Moreover,
I've even seen another type of corruption, described in my comment #157,
so using my theme is, sadly, not a solution.

Just to test it, for 1 week I was using the default theme and our
problem didn't appear there, I only saw it recently again. So it looks
like it has nothing in common with themes.

However, a little helpful detail:
Using semi-transparent panel background excludes the main type of corruption
for me, when the affected icon is a doubled one of a neighbouring icon. I've
only seen the one when the icon is covered by a solid colour or the other one
for which there's a screenshot in #157.

[Bug 585598] Re: Totem: In fullscreen mode, the Leave fullscreen button sometimes doesn't work

2010-06-19 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Probably it has something in common with compiz, because when the bars
in fullscreen get broken (the scrollbar is affected too) the compiz
mouse gestures assigned to the screen corners are active, but when the
problem doesn't appear, they are not active.

Sometimes they are flashing, other times they just disappear when
hovering over them.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-06-19 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Actually yeah, you are right, Mint is based on Ubuntu. This conversation
contains already too much info, I think. So just to conclude it:

1. it only happens at startup
2. if u reload the panel, everything gets OK
3. the corrupted icon greyed out and is not working, but if you still see a
little bit of it, you can click on that part
4. as far as I know, only the notification area or the Indicator applet session
button are affected

Possible solution: compare the differences between the way how is the
panel loaded at startup ←→ and how is the panel loaded back after
killing it

or

compare all that with the way how it works in other gnome distros

That is up to the developers, the users can't contribute any more.

I had also a different kind of corruption the last time, but different
than you. Check that out... This bug is slowly changing to another bug
:)

It was the network applet. A little part of it was still visible and
working and the corrupted part was broken!

I already reported this long ago, that the problem doesn't happen with
the Ubuntu dawn theme, only in the default theme. I've been using Ubuntu
dawn MAC icons (by the way very nice combination) for a month and I
haven't seen this there since. Nevertheless, probably it has something
in common with themes.

[Bug 588140] [NEW] Gstreamer ugly codec doesn't play all .asf videos

2010-06-01 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Public bug reported:

I think that there are different versions of .asf files (8,9,...).
Gstreamer is probably not compatible with the newest or the older
versions. But it's a sheer guess. Here are 2 files, one of them plays in
Totem 2.30 (and in any other program), the other one not, giving me this
message after doing a an unsuccessful search for codecs:

No packages with the requested plugins found

The requested plugins are:

audio/x-asf-unknown decoder

It plays something then, but it's soundless and very low quality. When I
compare the 2 files' properties it gives me different codecs for them,
however it says the both of them are the same ASF video (video/x-ms-
asf) formats. The problem affects the Totem and Mplayer browser plugins
too. (Bloody Windows formats...)

You're probably aware of this, I'm posting this just for the case...
Thanks!

[Bug 584057] Re: There's all the time some problem streaming wmv videos in browsers in Ubuntu

2010-05-29 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
Hey, something's going on!

Today I've tried again and my Chromium --6.0.420.0 (48550) Ubuntu-- daily build
started to play the second link:
http://www.ta3.com/sk/relacie/15_svet-technologii/9333_svet-technologii-z-22-maja
And suddenly I can open the video with Totem too already. All videos on this
site work now!

My first link:
http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%207/Main/5/5/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652.wmv
It still doesn't work in Chromium, no change there (but I can open and play it
in Totem as before). However I have to CORRECT myslef, this is an .asf video,
not .wmv.

So to make a conclusion: .wmv's seem to work now (however, I would give
some further testing to it to be sure to say that...), .asf videos still
don't play in Chromium, (they do in Firefox with the mpalyer-plugin) but
I can open them at least in Totem.

Thanx...

[Bug 584057] Re: There's all the time some problem streaming wmv videos in browsers in Ubuntu

2010-05-29 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
I've tried a sample .asf video on the web and this time I can't even open it in
Totem: http://faculty.matcmadison.edu/cpaac/online/simpsons28.asf
It gives me this message: No packages with the requested plugins found The
requested plugins are: audio/x-asf-unknown decoder

But Firefox mplayer-plugin doesn't play this media either (just a
weird, low-resolution, soundless something appears), so there's a
system-wide problem with .asf videos (no codec)...

[Bug 584057] Re: There's all the time some problem streaming wmv videos in browsers in Ubuntu

2010-05-27 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
I've done a bit of research and I've realized, the problem's not system-
wide. I can play streaming .wmv's in Firefox using the mplayer-plugin
(screenshot of the Firefox window in action attached). The problem is
with the Windows Media Player Plug-in 10 (compatible; Totem) with the
file: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libtotem-gmp-plugin.so. However, Chromium
doesn't seem to be able to use the mplayer-plugin.

here are 2 URL's, opening them in Chromium gives a player window that
won't start playing and stays black:

http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%207/Main/5/5/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652/55191799-c851-4ca4-8d17-ed9bd33b2652.wmv
I can open this one at least with Totem and it plays correctly.

http://www.ta3.com/sk/relacie/15_svet-technologii/9333_svet-technologii-z-22-maja
Opening this one with Totem gives this message: An error occurred Location not
found.

Reinstalling the totem-mozilla package doesn't help.

Here's how the whole problem started:
I added the Chromium daily-build PPA to the software sources on 22. May 2010
and run an update. From then I couldn't play the streaming .wmv's. However, it
may be just a coincidence...

Here's some terminal output, maybe helpful:

The same in Totem 2.30.1 in Ubuntu 10.04. Yes, I use compiz, but I've
created another user (without compiz) and it's the same. I can copy the
file, the copy has the same behaviour.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-05-26 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
In my experience it depends from theme. I use the UBUNTU DAWN theme with
MAC ICONS and long time I haven't seen this problem, but I re-logged
into a different user with the default theme and suddenly the power
button was broken... With my beloved settings it has never happened so
far!

For Märt Suga: Does it happen to u all the time booting like this. Try
out my settings, it would be great to see, if it was a theme related
problem.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-05-26 Thread zsolt . ruszinyák
I don't say it's a theme problem for sure, but anyway I find it strange
that it suddenly never happens with my settings. I'm going to use
another theme for some time now and see what happens.
