Do you mean: NVidia does not deliver open source drivers for my MD96630 notebook, so one can't work with Ubuntu/Linux etc. ? And is it the same story for the rest of the total hardware in this machine? Soundcard which don't work? Wlan which don't work? Tuning impossible for i.e LCD

Arie - The NVIDIA driver is proprietary and closed source. This means that only NVIDIA can fix bugs with their driver. Ubuntu cannot fix problems with the NVIDIA driver, and this is exactly the same situation on Windows too. Whilst there is an open-source alternative (nouveau) developed
