I've moved to 6.06. It may have been resolved as a bad RAM issue. If

with Linux at all. Most of the video functionality is missing on Linux. Audo is
almost as bad. I am almost ready to put back Windows again. At least audio
and video worked properly with Windows.

drive-harddisk and view refresh is totally wrong. It prevents an icon
theme from having a different graphical metaphor for e.g. refreshing a
web page and restarting the computer, which are completely different

mimetype icons in fact never get shown. The proper thing to do would
probably be to display the custom mimetype icons when the default theme
is used and use the generic fallbacks when a custom theme is in use.

No, this is a completely different bug. Bug #217997 is about mimetype
icons in the hicolor theme. This one is about generic mimetype icons
from the theme overriding specific icons in the SAME theme! I.e. I
@ Peter Brett: The user can't choose and pick what icons he/she likes
anyway except by creating a custom theme, so not exposing this setting
for existing themes is OK.
@ bug maintainers: please undupe bug #217997, it is not a duplicate of
this bug (see comment in that bug).

I've found out that while the 'X' is on the screen (i.e. it's loading
the login window) if you Ctrl-Alt-F2 to a terminal then the system
remains responsive.
If you then Ctrl-Alt-F7 back to the X screen you just get a black screen
and can't get to a terminal again, but pressing the power button
I noticed an additional problem, and fundamentally it is a design
problem in the xdgmime library. The order in which icons should be
checked is as follows:
- XDG icon specified by the user
- specific mimetype icon
- legacy specific mimetype icon (gnome-mime-...)
- XDG generic icon
- foo-x-generic

I can reproduce this on every boot. All I did was install hardy
mythbuntu then perform a dist upgrade to intrepid. I am using built in
intel graphics. If I can provide any more information please let me
know. Using the intrepid beta live cd for mythbuntu it loads the
desktop but the mouse moves

Ok, this isn't very useful.. but here is the information I collected:
I Ctrl-Alt-F2'd into a terminal to stop it crashing on boot. Then I re-
started the gdm. The system locked up again, but I was able to gain ssh
access for about 20 seconds before it because unresponsive. There was
no message
To fix this, we can use any good name for the icons and put the
fallbacks in /data/icons directory of the source. I think we can recycle
GPM icons for this, just under a different name.
Get the GPM icons from your current installation (/usr/share/gnome-
power-manager/icons) and any good restart

Chris, you have to change it to interactive, otherwise it is never going to
show you the logout dialog.
Ok, changed it to interactive. Even it was on shutdown my pc did not shutdown
when pressing the power button.

Be sure to restart gnome-power-manager. Easiest way is simply to log out and
back in.
I forgot to mention that I logged me out and in, even restarted my PC.
In gnome-power-manager I tried interactive, suspend and shutdown non of
them work.

The panel becomes invisible at random intervals. In this condition it's
as if the panel were completely transparent: it remains fully
functional, tooltips and applets work fine, etc. Doing 'killall gnome-
panel' causes it to restart normally
too. I have used the machine extensively for weeks since
the video driver switch, and have not seen it, whereas it used to happen
unpredictably every couple of days.
Note that my issue had nothing to do with xine or with window borders;
it was just a Gnome-Panel thing.

Crash while removing gnome-games-data package using aptitude
I have not posted for a while because I was waiting for the release. I
have just put the 8.10 release live cd in the drive and started the
installer and it has done the same thing. Obviously the installer does
not use the gdm, instead just an application in X so I think we can
presume the bug is

It has been deduced that the bug is not in the gdm, but instead with
xorg. It seems to be when a window is painted. Although cursors and
window frames do not seem to crash the system.

Hello,
I can make a new playlist on my ipod nano, but I cant paste files into it.
Also it takes several write attempts to get music to appaer on my ipod.
This is on ubuntu inteprid.

I can't seem to view ANY Postscript files with the current Evince. The
program displays the Loading text on a white screen, CPU usage falls
nearly to zero, and nothing more happens.
Version is 2.26.1, running on Ubuntu Jaunty amd64, current as of
23jun09.

My laptop is a Toshiba M11 Tecra, new a few weeks ago.
I'm not sure which package is to blame for this problem ... It may be
the gnome power applet, it may be the power management base software, or

I can report the same problem, using onboard. I right-click on the
terminal and choose Open Terminal. This creates a new terminal window
which not maximized, receives no decoration and cannot get focus. Once
every 5 tries or so.

After a fresh install of Ubintu 10.10 the 'Radio' playlist contains lots
of radio stations. After adding a new one using an url the playlist is
empty, only containing the url I added.
