I have very similar issues to many here. It happens when using VirtualBox,
Firefox (occasionally), or most obviously, when watching a video. It happens on

Seems to me that Ubuntu 12.10 and Linux are made for experienced programmer
analyst or some kink of geeks because since i installed the system as a back up
to win7 ultimate (i can't stand microsoft practices) i face the kind of
messages you'll find below. It's always the story each time

23.0.1271.97-0ubuntu0.12.10.1, with Lubuntu 12.10.
Workaround at the moment seems to be using two tabs at once, which you
will have to open with either ctrl-t or a ctril-left click, or through a

Yes, that's right.
The thing I don't understand is why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Reloading alsa or pulseaudio doesn't help. It starts working again only
after a system reboot.

Totem (and GNOME in general) is moving in the direction of having less
settings. Totem 3.6.x doesn't even have the Audio output setting. It
