Okay, so now looking back at this bug, I see that when I have Focal with
X11 and the 440 nvidia drivers enabled, I can set scaling to integer
multiples without problems, but enabling fractional scaling and then
using a fractional scaling results in the black screen problem mentioned
in this bug as
It seems to be the same problem as bug 1872476, but there it seems to
affect samba. I found that samba 4.11.7 alone works fine and that the
bug only occurs if the samba shares are mounted with gio mount.
Therefore I suppose it is a gio bug.
Before installing a patched samba version in my system I
Daniel, I just turned off fractional scaling and I no longer have this
problem, so for me at least with nvidia drivers and focal, I don't see
this bug and instead see 1825593 as you mentioned.

Ok, so this is progress. Building against gnutls fixes the trust
pairing, but breaks file transfers. I rebuild the same source with
openssl vs gnutls and that's exactly what I see. With openssl I have to
re-pair every time I plug in but with gnutls, the file transfers don't
work.

I've upgraded to 20.04 and have checked out the installed versions. For
now, I was able to get it working "just" by upgrading libimobiledevice
to the latest git and building against gnutls (using openssl resulted in
it needing to re-trust every time I plug in because the TLS information

Solved this on my testing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS VM by installing greeter from
MATE:
```
sudo apt-get purge arctica-greeter arctica-greeter-guest-session
sudo apt-get purge kylin-greeter ukui-greeter
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge
sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-mate-lightdm-theme
```
