Yeah, well I know that you shouldn't, me neither, but it is very likely
that this bug exists precisely because of that. Back in 2017 June, one
guy submitted this workaround to RedHat
I have given up fighting scanning on PCs using 18.04. It is easier to
reboot the PC to windows, do the scanning from windows and use Ext2
volume manager to send the files back to the drives used by Ubuntu.
Devices and software (PDF Studio Pro) that worked very well under 16.04
