Ah interesting. I've been reading the brasero bugs on gnome bugzilla and
it seems they use wodim and not growisofs?

Perhaps a bug watch is in order, although that bug seems stalled and is
rather generic.

To burn a pre-mastered image:
growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=/path/to/iso/image
To burn a directory tree:
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd -R -J /path/to/directory_tree
If you need more information, see “man growisofs” or “man mkisofs”. Or
whatever Ubuntu calls its versions of the utilities; I don't remember
Also, can you give me a clue how to write the ISO from command line? I
need to get this done some time this decade :(

This hasn't been fixed in 12.04. This is clearly a bug because BD-RE
media works.
