Mea culpa. Those logs demonstrate a different bug (I've got too many?) with darkening screen. After the latest update, when I choose switch user, the screen darkens but now moves on to the login screen as it should. It lands me there ready for the password of the original user, but without

I can't confirm this. I use the Guest account to log in under a Gnome session (not Ubuntu). From there, choosing to Switch user gives the same behaviour as above, though without the need for a password since Guest has none. That is, the screen goes blank except for a top bar, and nothing more

From what I can tell it's probably an artifact from upgrading. The non admin user account is actually still trying to call GDM to switch user, and GDM isn't available. I can successfully from my main user to the other user, but not from the other user to the main user which is the one that ran
