In my case, every once in a while the screen freezes and the keyboard
and mouse stop responding. This lasts for about 0.5-5 sec, and then
activity resumes as normal. Makes usage of the computer very
incovenient. Cannot confirm 100%, but it looks like it is linked to
heavy processor usage.
Using
Similar problem happend to me. But same pdf can be printed in same
printer (HP laserjet 4250) without any problem from ubuntu 11.10 but not
from 12.10 or higher version.

Disagree. In my case (fresh updated 13.04 64-bit) I don't see configuration
file changes on reboot.
I may expect it to be modified if you remove your current Wi-Fi connections
from known ones in NetworkManager and then will try to connect to it again -
this indeed will create a new config file
Mathias, klamm2001 does the error appear when you are using wifi? If
yes, try with Ethernet cable or without a connection(turn off the wifi
card with the switch)

Hmm, actually, if you use the latest version from the partner archive,
4.2.0.11-0ubuntu0.12.04.2, that now includes the workaround above.

More than a month ago the ubuntu updates broke modes that used to work
on my external monitor, SyncMaster SA350. I manually add 1920x1080@60Hz
just to get it to work.
none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes:

I updated to Fedora 19, using xorg 1.14.2 and ATI catalyst driver 13.6
beta, and this problem finally seems to be solved on my hardware. The
release notes for the driver do indicate a bunch of fixes related to
power management. Can anyone else confirm?

This workaround should already be present in the archive for all
alien4any's solution (post #6) worked perfectly for me after trying
several other suggestions found around the net (e.g., getlibs, etc).
