I upgraded to 21.10 yesterday, but haven't used it long enough to know
for sure if the crash also happens here. And it switched to Wayland,
which doesn't really solve the problem, since Plover isn't currently
compatible with it. But I switched to Xorg and haven't got any Xorg
crashes on 21.10 so

Did you try the fix that solved it for me and others - see #34 above
Please check that this command fixes the problem:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-trash false
after logging out and in again. If the leak still happens then please
don't comment
Thanks for your feedback in comment #2. Sorry it took over four years
for someone to acknowledge. I'm closing this as "Invalid" as it doesn't
seem that a software update was needed in order to resolve the issue.

Still less than twenty-four hours since the upgrade, still no crashes
after it. But I found a workaround for the missing characters bug. Just
switch to the Lubuntu desktop instead of the (GNOME) Ubuntu one. Might
still want to report that bug to IBus or Xorg or whatever was causing
the keypresses

The Gigabyte website says that the motherboard sound controller supports
the Realtek ALC898 codec.
I created an Alsa report; see link below:
I don't want to be this guy, but I think the problem lies in the gnome-
shell 3.36 stack. Because after I moved to Debian 11 with gnome-shell
3.38, the memory usage of gnome-shell doesn't go above 200 MB with 6
extensions, 4K resolution and uptime: 1 day, 39 min.

I'm getting spammed by libinput messages about the system being slow. A
couple of patches in libinput were merged to master about month ago
that rate limits some messages that previously were not, and should at
least stop the spamming of messages, if you use a wireless mouse for
example the

They are not shown anymore by default in the desktop, as we already have
the dock for that.
I feel we could add an option not to show them in the dock in case (as per LP:
#1846205), but not to move them back to the desktop IMHO.
There's still dconf-editor for that.
