this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1249551, so is being marked as such.
ok - after further investigation it does in-fact look like an upstream
issue.

Expected would be that it is positioned analogue to the dash search box.

After starting System settings - Keyboard, selecting tab Shortcuts,
selecting Custom Shortcuts on t he left hand pane, adding a new one, eg.
thunar, it shows the new short cut and signals not yet having a
keybinding showing the word Disabled. When I attempt to select the line

I added your ppa and tested GNOME FlashBack sessions (Compiz and Metacity) -
nm-applet is auto-loaded in them, it's great!
I booted my Ubuntu 12.04.4 machines - they do not have nm-applet in
lightdm/unity-greeter, so this is not an issue.
