With Ubuntu 17.10 I was able to press the Super key and do simple math
quickly (i.e. 40/5 would give me answer of 8), not so with 18.04
testing. Is this due to the fact that GNOME Calculator application is a
snap app? Also Calculator is missing in Search options in GNOME
marking as affecting the reverse-dependency tree of net-cpp. Since
there doesn't appear to be a maintainer for net-cpp itself anymore,
either someone interested in the reverse-dependencies will need to step
up to maintain it, or the entire tree will need to be dropped from the
release pocket.

Tested in Unity (16.04); the issue is not present there. Possibly unity

Yesterday, I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. I then installed the Cinnamon
desktop package.
After installing from software center or using DEB, packages don't show

am using gnome-flashback (gnome-panel) with Compiz. I first recognised
that Compiz is giving very high CPU loads according to top. At the same
time, intel_gpu_top shows GPU usage
